The Adventure Creator is an editor featured in the Galactic Adventures expansion pack. It comes with several new adventure-related achievements. One of its main features is the ability to create planets and missions that can be uploaded to the Sporepedia.

Editing

The mission editor has three sections: a section for editing a mission, a section for editing the planet that the mission is on, and a section for playing the missions.

The planet section allows the player to change the colors of the planet, as well as bringing in stamps, which include things like lava pits, hills, etc. The player is able to rotate and change the size of the stamps they put in, just like with the parts in the other creators. The planet is automatically covered in flora, but the player can manually add or remove plants using the planet editor. There are several sliders to change the planets day and night, atmosphere, heat, and water level. If the planet is hot enough, water will be replaced with lava, and if a planet is cold enough, the water will be replaced with thin ice and slushy water. The planets design will also have other effects, such as adding in hazards like lava, which will damage players who fall into it, lightning, damaging players that get too high up into the air, and other things.

The second part of the Adventure Creator is the actual adventure itself. Here, there are several tabs for vehicles, buildings, creatures, and other objects. Clicking on these tabs will let the player choose one of the vehicles, buildings, or creatures from the Sporepedia to bring onto the planets surface. Patrol routes can be set for creatures and vehicles. Creatures, vehicles and almost everything can be given dialogue, and they can be put on one of four different "teams". Creatures will generally be aggressive towards anyone on a different team, or peaceful to all. Buildings, vehicles and creatures alike can have their size scaled, creatures in particular changing from normal, babies, rogues, and even epics. The number of hitpoints they have can be changed, as well as how fast they are, how far they can see, how much damage they deal, and creatures can be given weapons. Creatures have sliders that change how aggressive they are, how easily they will be able to detect the player, and how large they are (although sizing one up too much turns it into an Epic Creature). Much like the other creators, online Sporepedia entries can be dragged directly into the adventure.

Textures are of lower quality in the editor than they appear while the adventure is played.

Interactive objects

There are many interactive objects that can be placed into an adventure. Adventure designers can even disguise objects like grenades as medical packs, or teleporters as gates.

  • There are many more objects, such as Stone axes and other props. They can be disguised, used as pick-up objects, etc.

Adventure Creator Guide

Popular adventures often have good and suspenseful dialogue. You don't want to put in too much dialogue, but your creatures are what runs your adventure. You have to make careful choices as to what you leave in and out.

Suspenseful Adventures

Suspenseful adventures are what get good ratings and good spore points. If you see your adventure has been downrated, or if you get bad comments suggesting the mission to be better, it's called constructive criticism. Use it as a suggestion. If you get bad ratings on your adventure or if you get bad comments use it as a guide to a better adventure. Getting feedback from other players can help towards a better adventure.

Advanced Behavior

By pressing control while selecting a creatures behavior (mindless, neutral, peaceful) you enter the advanced behavior editors. This editor can allow you to make believable war scenes, and make allied creatures help you in completing your missions for you.

Objectives

An adventure can have up to eight acts each with three objectives. Some objectives can have counters like 'kill 10 of [creature]', or 'collect 5 gem piles'. It can also be set to collect all, befriend all, etc, until all things of that type have been befriended, collected, protected, etc.

  • Kill or Destroy
  • Befriend
  • Talk to or Examine
  • Move to
  • Hold
  • Give
  • Collect
  • Bring
  • Block
  • Protect or Defend

Notes

Trivia

  • The Adventure editor may be partially based on online game creators, but instead of 2d animation, it comes in 3d or, it could be based on the game, Video Game Tycoon.
  • The Terrain Editor may also be similar to the world builder or the pre-game settings in the game, Civilization.
  • There is a glitch that can occur when someone makes an adventure with respawning power-ups. When editing, the power-ups are in the right places, but when the creator tests the adventure, the power-ups are in the wrong places.
