I do not serve the Empire for glory and power, I simply want to leave the galaxy in a better state than how I found it.

- Delin Lassiter

Delin Lassiter is a female Libertus who serves as a captain in the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus. The commander of the Star Destroyer Devastator prior to its destruction at the Battle of the Interdimensional Warp Gate, Captain Lassiter was originally a captain of the United Republic of Cyrannus during the Great Cyrannus War only to develop into a strong Imperial patriot during the rise of the Imperial hyperpower during the Dark Times. Valuing discipline, authority and efficiency, Lassiter is opposed to the cruel and sadistic tendencies of some of the Empire's agents, believing that the Empire should be a force of peace through order and not through fear.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Born on the Core World ecumenopolis of Arnoario in 46 BNE, Lassiter in her formative years held no love for the hustle and bustle of the city-world and longed to leave it to join the planetary defence fleet and eventually, the Naval Forces of the United Republic of Cyrannus. When she came of age, she enrolled at the planet's prestigious naval academy and graduated in the top third of her class, earning her a posting on the Liberator-class Star Destroyer Destiny in 26 BNE. Working her way through the ranks during conflicts ranging from the Trucinex War to the Second Galactic War, by the time the Confederacy of Allied Systems declared war on the Republic in 03 BNE, she had ascended to the rank of captain of a Venator-class Star Destroyer, fighting in some of the key battles of the conflict.

Captain of the Devastator[]

As the Republic transitioned into the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus during the Dark Times, Lassiter's loyalty to the Empire earned her the command of one of the Empire's new ships-of-the-line, the Imperial Star Destroyer Devastator, with her first campaign being the defense of the Imperial held planet of Nahdar, which would regularly see attacks by rebel Mon Nahdar aligned to various Republic Remnant groups. When the Empire ceded control of the system to the New Cyrannian Republic, Lassiter was sent to the front lines of the rebellion of the Cyrannian Imperial State, fighting in several small skirmishes in the conflict prior to being assigned by Grand Admiral Carandial to participate in the final Siege of Vasuband.

I agree with Captain Decimius. It would fulfil the desires of the rebels and damage our relations with the Rambo protectorate.

- Lassiter, agreeing with Tector Decimius that attacking New Republic forces after the Battle of Vasuband would not be in the Empire's interests.

Lassiter was present during a meeting between the New Republic, Rambo Nation and the Empire on board Carandial's dreadnought Imperatore, during which she remained mostly silent only to speak up when Marquar Cuinn suggested betraying the Republic upon the Imperial State's defeat. Agreeing with Captain Tector Decimius that such an act would not be in the Empire's best interests, she was relieved when Carandial agreed. Soon afterwards, Lassiter returned to the Devastator, where she fought in the skies above Vasuband during the climactic battle of the conflict. During the battle, she gained a healthy respect for the skills of both the New Republic and Rambo captains, as well as their commitment to destroying the Empire's foes.

I am not explaining to the families of our troopers that they died a meaningless death for a hopeless cause, Commander! And I will not let the ire of a bureaucrat scare me into sacrificing this fleet. Now do as you're told!

- Captain Lassiter to her first officer during the attack against the Vida'Rranlora.

A year after the end of the New Cyrandia Wars, Captain Lassiter and the Devastator were involved in the Ruination at the Archives, during which the Empire was soundly defeated by Vida'Rranlora holograms upon their escape from Imperial enslavement. Though her superiors ordered her to press the attack, Lassiter knew that such a thing would lead to the unnecessary loss of her soldiers and so refused the order. When she returned to Imperial space, she expected to be court marshaled, though her actions were approved by Imperial Command, much to the chagrin of Grand Mandator Caesarius, who had ordered the attack. Soon afterwards, Caesarius assigned the Devastator to Grand Admiral Mortalagueis' fleet during the attack on the rebellious Capricorn Remnant Alliance.

During the Battle of the Interdimensional Warp Gate, Captain Lassiter rallied an Imperial fleet in defence of Rambo Nation against foes including the Gigaquadrantic Hegemony, the Hutter Kingdom and the Regellis Star Empire. Begrudgingly fighting alongside the New Republic captain Nexul Tohon, Lassiter fought bravely, though with the battle turning against the makeshift allies, she ordered the Devastator's crew to abandon ship though she remained aboard to ram the Interdimensional Warp Gate. Though she expected to die, she was transported off the ship by Captain Tohon at the last second.

Second Battle of the Mou'Cyran Remnants

During the Second Great War's opening stages, Lassiter fought in the climactic Second Battle of the Mou'Cyran Remnants.

With a newfound respect for the Republic, Lassiter returned to Imperial space, where she received command of the Devastator II, in honour of her previous command.

Second Great War[]

Opening Stages

Nevertheless, when the Second Great Cyrannus War erupted between the Empire and the Republic, Lassiter heeded the call of duty and was deployed to the Coru Secundus Campaign under the command of Fleet Admiral Tharnak Adraci. Commanding the Devastator during the pivotal Second Battle of the Mou'Cyran Remnants, she presided over some of the bloodiest fighting of the week-long conflict, which ultimately ended in an Imperial victory. She was later deployed to Grand Mandator Deoclet Caesarius' armada during his invasion of the Republic-held sectors of the Core Worlds. During the Battle of Apailiana in 16 NE, she commanded the Devastator with brutality and efficiency, though the idiocy of her fellow captain Kendar Bozzel prevented the Empire from securing a total victory.

Personality and Traits[]

I am Captain Delin Lassiter of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, the rightful government of Cyrannus and the keepers of order and peace.

- Delin Lassiter

An efficient, honourable and disciplined captain, Lassiter embodies many of the positive characteristics of the Empire including a devotion to order and peace, being critical of the Empire's many imperialistic power grabs throughout its short history, such as the campaigns against Rambo Nation and the United Lanat Empire. Nevertheless, Lassiter is a patriot at heart and is more than willing to turn a blind eye to the Empire's excesses, rationalising that the Empire is by far the best chance the galaxy has to enjoy true peace without fear of aggression from extragalactic foes. Lassiter is immensely proud of the Imperial Navy as an institution of the Empire and though she views it as the closest thing to a family she has ever had, she makes sure to visit her wife and children on Arnoario whenever she is on leave. With regard to the New Republic, Lassiter is far from sympathetic to its attempts to spread into the Unknown Regions while simultaneously viewing it as an honourable force in Cyrannus that the Empire should ally with against threats such as the Neraida Gigamatrix.

Devastator[]

Imperial-class

The Devastator II (ICS Devastator ISD-11391) is an Imperator-class Star Destroyer serving in the Imperial Navy under the command of Captain Delin Lassiter. Launched in 14 NE to replace the Devastator I, from the Shipyards of Cyroenia, the Devastator II is named in honour of the original Devastator, which served along the borders of the Empire for three years prior to being assigned to the Mon Nahdar homeworld of Nahdar in 03 NE and later the front lines of the New Cyrandia Wars against the rebellious forces of the Cyrannian Imperial State. Though she did not see action during the conflict's larger battles prior to the Siege of Vasuband, the exploits of the Devastator became well known to Imperial citizens, becoming a well-regarded ship which displayed great efficiency thanks to the leadership of her captain.
