“All in the name of Spode's holy mission; with the confidence of the Church and her Navy, I shall make secure Spode's holy dominion for all those who walk in Spode's light, and shall strike down the wicked and evil who would dare trespass.”
- - Iliana Serrada, upon accepting her commission as Divine War Commandant, 1754 SY
Diedra Elicia Iliana Emalto Serrada, more commonly known as Iliana Serrada, is the Divine War Commandant of the Iron Pazu'Mir Navy of the Grand Spodist Church. A member of the wealthy Serrada family of Sarayla and the daughter of the powerful Cleriarca of Sarayla Convocata, Serrada is widely adored among natives of Sa Sorai as the first Divine War Commandant to hail from the region and as a symbol of the growing visibility and influence of Sa Sorai. However, some critics believe that Serrada only achieved her rank through the intervention of her influential father, rather than through her own merit.
Serrada was born on Sarayla, the second-largest world in Auriellia Sovereignty and a major commercial hub, in 1344 SY. The daughter of Sarayla's popular Gardarca and future Cleriarca Saraggio Serrada and the wealthy Saraylan businesswoman Beninta Emalto, Serrada's childhood was undeniably comfortable and luxurious. Attending the finest private schools on Sarayla and living in a gentrified section of Sarayla's largest city, Serrada entered adulthood as a well-educated, well-adjusted individual with powerful connections. Following dreams of being a military hero, Serrada enrolled in the Auriellia Naval Academy, graduating with high marks and becoming a promising young officer in the Iron Pazu'Mir Navy.
Serrada would first see action during GSC counter-revolutionary efforts against the Janeau Revolution in the Argexantine Warrior Alliance, suppressing uprisings against GSC and TIAF influence in the Hiranoa Republic and Derodenian State. Serrada continued service as the revolution escalated into the Core Conflict, with Serrada taking part in defending the Church from Argexantine and later Bunsen Grox invasions. The units under her command suffered miraculously few losses, leading to her promotion to Caudrillon in the later years of the Conflict. After the end of the Conflict, Serrada would be promoted to Emirante of the 4th Sarlagio and then Divine War Commandant following the retirement of the previous office holders, in recognition of her command talent and skill. Her recent ascent to the office of Commandant remains controversial as members of military circles argue that Serrada lacks the experience necessary for such a major responsibility.
