[edit] Purpose
The Aarvit have always loved battles, but when given a pet they cherish it greatly. So one day they put the two together. They thought that they should tame dangerous animals, pit them against each other, sacrifices, prisoners, traitors, and challengers. This has, for the most part, pacified the Aarvit bloodlust to the extent of that only about every one to three years is there a murder in the hill (Aarvit homes are called hills).
[edit] Pet Death
The pets however, doing all the fighting, are rarely killed. Only when the Aarvit's hadn't seen an execution for a long time will they force the hill leaders to have an animal on animal fight. Even in these cases death is rare because the owner of the pet may call them out at any moment. To further lower the chances of death, the arena has the finest biotechnology and life support. However, when a pet dies, the owner often becames enraged up to the extent of slaughtering the owner of the pet who killed his pet, the pet itself, or both.

Put simply, a giant ferret with 3 sets of legs. size varies from 1-2.3 metres long.
