[edit] Habitat
Akaj are native to the swamp moon Ithica IV. It is the third satellite orbiting the gas giant Ithica I, a large Jupiter sized planet masked in swirling violet gasses. Ithica IV is very similar to Earth - roughly the same size, an almost identical atmosphere, and a slightly warmer overall temperature. Most of the planet is covered in swamps, however the poles are largly home to temperate forests. Akaj themselves inhabit the the large vinetree forests along most of the middle section of the planet. Plant life consists mostly of scaly, purple leafed trees. Their trunks are almost vinelike, being thin and wrapping around themselves and their enviroment. Other "plant" life consists of gelatinous collections of primitive cells that catch small flying arthropods and hang in the branches of trees.
[edit] Anatomy
Akaj are large, carnivorous reptavians native to the large forests of vinetrees covering Ithica IV. They mainly hunt smaller reptavians and large arthropods. During mating season, males inflate a blue, sac like organ to attract mates and intimidate rivals. Once a pair of individuals mate, they stay together for the rest of their lives. Females lay clutches of 3-5 eggs at a time, and males stay in the nest to guard the eggs. Females, being the larger gender, hunt food. Much of this food is transferred into a second stomach where it is broken down into a nutritious liquid and regurgitated for the hatchlings. Their wings are lack ribbing of any kind, instead having collections of small hollow bones. They have poor eyesigh, and hunt mostly by hearing and smell.
[edit] "Napalm" Spray
Akaj have a unique ability to spit highly corrosive enzymes at their prey. This usually incipacitates their victims because of the intense pain. Certain cell surface marker proteins prevent the enzymes from harming the Akaj itself. This spray is so powerful that it can even eat through the tough exoskeleton of a Xeno-Rex. This spray is, however, completely useless against non-cellular matter.

Females lay clutches of 3-5 eggs at a time, and males stay in the nest to guard the eggs. Females, being the larger gender, hunt food. Much of this food is transferred into a second stomach where it is broken down into a nutritious liquid and regurgitated for the hatchlings. Aside from mating pairs, Akaj generally avoid each other, and will attck other Akaj in their territory on sight. If orphened, most hatchlings can take care of themselves at the age of two weeks. They begin flying at four weeks.
