The Alder is a non sentient, herbivorous, quintupedal native of Technocrat I. Alders have no eyes, relying on their compound ear to "see".
[edit] Reproduction
Once reaching full maturity at 25, Alders end the practice matings and courtships of their adolescent days and start seeking out partners. Reproduction is achieved by one of the DNA coated tusks of the male rubbing against the DNA absorbing tusks of the female. This results in the DNA reacting with amino head acids in the female to start growing a baby and birth chamber, a temporary outgrowth on the Alder's head. 18 months later, the baby breaks out of the sac, which contains no nerves and will have withdrawn its blood support a week before, and goes out into the world to become a new Alder.

Alder group into herds, carrying partners with them in the herd for up to 30 years, after which the two part ways due to a mysterious need for genetic diversity. Herds are up to 18 strong.
