are opposable to each other.

Could the hands have evolved from something other than the forefeet? All limbs can grip to some extent.

What is the nervous system like? The primary brain controls movement, memory, and instincts. Sensory brain in

the head deals with complex thoughts, communication, and sensory information. Nerves connect the two to the

rest of the body.

Does the race have a central nervous system? Yes, with two brains with seperate tasks.

[edit] History

[edit] Creature Stage

The evolution of the Florauna can be reasonably traced back to the first terrestrial plants on Darmet. An

interesting feature of these photosynthesizers are their moblile spore stage. Once the seeds break off from

the parent, they wander about untill they find a good growing spot and take root. This ensures survival and

that plants won't grow too close together. Over time, the spores developed better legs and a basic nervous

system with eyes. Eventually, the spores were able to function by themselves and simply skipped the adult

stage of life. These small, walking plant-like organisms were called Wanderers.

As the aeons progressed, the Wanderers grew larger and developed better senses, in time gaining a nocturnal

lifestyle. By only being active at night, the Wanderers could photosynthesize uninterruped for hours during

the day and move to better feeding grounds by night. Unfortunately, while the Wanderers were busy napping,

they made easy pickings for herbivores, such as the Wader (An ancestor of the Phark). To solve this problem,

they moved into the trees that had started to dot the land, developing better climbing limbs, which were also

useful as graspers.

The Wanderers' problems didn't end there, though. Other creatures were moving into the trees, and they were

hungry for sleeping Wanderers. Having nowhere else to run, the Wanderers started to form communal groups to

watch out for troubble. This triggered a rise in brainpower, allowing them to start using simple tools, such

as rocks and sticks, to fend off the herbivores. Their graspers evolved to compensate as they also became

more active at night, scaring the herbivores away from their favorite sleeping trees. Communication also

became more complex, using a patch of hair-like structures behind the nostrils like we use facial

expressions. The fur would change color and even glow dimly depending on the Wanderer's mood.

With the development of language, the Wanderers decided on a name for themselves. Although the true name is

naturally unpronouncable by non-Wanderers, the members of the first Darmet exploration felt that Florauna was

an acceptable approximation.

[edit] Tribal Stage

[edit] Stone Age

After roaming around the jungles of Darmet for thousands of years, the Florauna began to settle in small

family groups. As the population rose, some family groups merged and formed the first tribes. Together, they

worked to make life easier. Early dwellings were created, streched like hammocks across the tree branches.

Their religion developed, each main tribe worshiping a different icon; Tribe Rubrica celebrates the greatness

of the Florauna themselves, while Tribe Albeo was awed by the trees and other plants. Tribe Fulvus paired

with the Ketchy and it's nomadic lifestyle, and Tribe Caeruleus had a deep relationship with the Phark. Tribe

Croceus worshiped the speed and grace of the Nectant, yet Tribe Galbinus was fixated on the wonders of new

life, embodied by the seeds of the plants. Tribe Aquilus lived for conflict and wars to proove their

greatness, unusual for the generally peace-loving Florauna.

[edit] Fire Age

Soon the Florauna began making major advancements in technology. Tribal tattoes and tree paintings were one

of the first developments. They also began domesticating Ketchies and Pharks as guards and mounts,

respectively. They also discovered fire, but didn't have a real use for it other than scaring off herbivores. Musical instruments also made their first apperance, made out of hollow pieces of wood knocked on by a stick. This rythmic tapping was joined by dances that, like the lyrics to our songs, told a story. Tales of the ancestors were passed down in this way.

[edit] First Contact

Hundreds of years later, the first Darmet exploration team encountered the Florauna. As night fell, the first scouts from Tribe Rubrica wandered into the camp. Startled by flashing lights, they returned and told the rest about new beings out on the plains. Curiosity got the better of them, and they sent more scouts back to the camp... ((More soon as the RP continues!))

[edit] Death

The Florauna finally died, accidentally, due to the Elbeasts. In the "Elbeasts on..." RP.
