[edit] Evolution and History

The current Florina species evolved from the Winnow microbe. The microbe eventually evolved into the Willowan cell. This cell evolved and eventually formed two different organisms- the primordial Willow Bird, and the Florina. The Willow Bird species then diverged into many different subcategories (Willow Singers, Willow Sprinters, etc), while the Florina advanced at a slow and steady pace. Both sects evolved with wings, however, while the Willow Birds became light, airy creatures, the Florinas gradually became more turtle-like, and their beaks became fleshy and soft. Also, the Florinas developed a symbiotic, mutual relationship with a native flower species, which are found decorating their backs. The flowers provide the Florina with a sort of camouflage, while the Florina indirectly pollinate them by brushing the sides of other Florina in greeting. They are a peaceful race, more inclined to flee than fight. However, a mother Florina can be extremely aggressive when her offspring are threatened.

The Florina race is not yet developed enough to be considered sentient, however, from extensive research, it is expected that the Florina will remain very similar to the way they are now, and that they will develop as a continually peaceful and nature-loving race.
