The Garoupa were first seen during E3 2006, when Will Wright demonstrated his creature, the Screebles. The Garoupa hail from Bilzac, which is the home system of the Screebles as well as the Orlop, Bunzo, and Judder.
The Garoupa were seen much later within the Sporepedia on the UFO, from which the stats listed were gleaned. However, it has been noted that the stats seemed to repeat, and therefore may be inaccurate.
