Type: Terrestrial Warm-blooded Omnivorous Tetrapod
Lifestyle: Social Cooperative Industrious Omnivores
Habitat: Advanced structures (spaceships and satellites, enormous boats, cities)
Primitive habitat: Grasslands, steppes, savannas, tundras, marshes, deserts, and pack ice (All cities are located in these places)
[edit] Physical
Size: Bipedal: 6 to 7.5 feet tall, 2 feet wide (males); 5.5 to 7 feet tall, 1.75 feet wide (females)
Quadrupedal: 2 to 3.75 feet long, 5 to 6.25 feet tall, 2 feet wide (males); 1.5 to 3.25 feet long, 4.5 to 5.75 feet tall, 1.75 feet wide (females)
Weight: 300 to 375 lbs (males), 275 to 350 lbs (females)
Diet: Medium-sized to large terrestrial creatures, small to medium-sized aquatic creatures, fruits, seeds, small to medium-sized herbaceous plants, roots and thin barks of woody plants, and eggs
Ratio of food that comes from domesticated creatures and plants to that from wild ones: 10 to 1
Hunt/forage success rate: 75% hunt, 50% forage
Natural defenses: Both muscular arms end in sharp, pointed "spear-hands". Strong legs can deliver powerful kicks, as well as give extra propulsion behind a thrust with a "spear-hand". Back of neck is covered by a plate of bone that is attached to the bottom of the skull and slides along the shoulders.
Natural tools: Two muscular ventacles (tentacles that are auxiliary breathing organs) that can manipulate objects, especially when used in conjunction with the "spear-hand" on the same side.
Method of Eating: Either pierce with a "spear-hand", grab with ventacles, or hold with both a "spear-hand" and a ventacle and bring to their mouth where they chew their food and then suck it into their proboscis-like tongue where it is sent to the stomach, then the intestines, and finally comes out the anus which is located at the base of the back.

[edit] Biology
Body cover: Gazorgon bodies are covered by skin that varies from 1/8 - 1 inch thick in different races and has the toughness of leather, but is as dense as fat. Skin color varies between extremes of white, grey, muted green, and brown. They have no hair when physically mature, but before then they have a light covering of black fur.
[edit] Head
A Gazorgo's head is located at the anterior end of its body. On average it is 4 inches wide, 6 inches tall, and 7 inches long, with little variation in either direction. It is slightly lighter colored than the rest of the body. It has no ears or nose.
Eyes: There are two, forward-facing eyes on a Gazorgo's face that are shallow set so they protrude slightly from the skull, giving their eyes a wide range of motion. The pair of eyes is a third of the way down their face. Common eye colors are red, yellow, and orange, and degrees between them. All pupils are rounded and oblong vertically, and they are colored black.
Snout: The snout makes up the front 2 inches of a Gazorgo's face and starts an inch below the eyes and ends at the base of the face. The jaw is hinged at the base of the snout and is thinner than the top part of the snout.
Tooth-ridges: On the inside of the mouth, there are two tooth-ridges that run from the tip to the base of the snout. One is attached to the underside of the top part of the snout and the other comes up from the jaw. They are serrated and the top and bottom interlock with a space for the tongue, even when completely closed. The jaw can be moved to either chew food in either an open-close motion or a sawing motion, although the latter has a smaller range of motion.
Tongue: Gazorgon tongues have a hollow, muscular inside and open at the tip. They start at the base of the mouth and end halfway through it. It is the inside of the tongue that swallows chewed food and sends it to the stomach. The outside of the tongue is used to taste things. During puberty, the outside of the tongue develops the ability to taste if something is poisonous to eat. If it is, it can be spat out with no ill effect.
Respiratory membrane: Around the base of the tongue in a ring is the respiratory membrane. It is the primary breathing organ. Gas is inhaled and exhaled through it, but food and liquids cannot pass through it.
Skull plate: At the base of the head a plate of bone covered in skin is attached to the rest of the head by a hinge joint. When relaxed, it rests on the neck and protects it, and slides across the shoulders as the head is moved. It is used to flirt and show arousal by both genders. The skull plates on males are blue-grey and the ones of females are maroon. Larger plates are more attractive to females and smaller plates are more attractive to males.
Neck: A Gazorgo's neck is 7 inches long and can turn the head left and right as well as nod it up and down. It is muscular enough to support and move the head both when on its legs and when on its legs and "spear-arms".
[edit] Limbs
All of a Gazorgo's limbs are attached to their torso. They work just as efficiently standing on just their feet or on their spear-arms and feet.
Spear-arms: The spear-arms are attached to the torso by a forward-backward hinge joint that allows a little inward movement, which allows them to jab forward forcefully, as well as be used for galloping and bringing things up to their mouth. Their elbows are simple hinge joints that can lock when straight, but also are very strong to allow quick and strong jabs. The tips of the spear-arms are exposed bone (shouldn't be the same color as the skin) and are very sharp but dull with use unless sharpened. Spear-arms are primarily used as weapons, for galloping, and to manipulate objects along with the corresponding ventacle.
Ventacles: Ventacles are located on the front side of the torso, just inside of the spear-arms. They are very flexible since they have no bone but have very dense muscle. They are used to grab and manipulate objects and also serve as auditory organs and secondary breathing organs. The surface of the ventacle has rings of flaps one inch apart from each other along the ventacle. The flaps are less than half an inch long and open facing the base of the ventacle. When the flaps open gases can be exchanged through the opening, and the outside of the flap is used to hear.
Legs: Gazorgo legs have knees that bend backwards to help with hopping and galloping. The hip joint is a ball-and-socket joint with a large range of motion. It allows the body to be equally efficient as a biped or a quadruped.
Feet: Gazorgo feet are long, thin, and pretty flat. There are three toes that spread out going forward and one going straight back. Gazorgoes with ancestors from deserts and marshes are more likely to have webbing between their toes, while those from pack ice and tundras have clawed front toes.
[edit] Civilization
[edit] Government
The Gazorgon government is a meritocracy. The branches of government are divided by area of life that they deal with (ex. building codes). Each branch has executive, legislative, and judicial duties. The Council of the Primes is made up of the leaders of each branch (ex. Prime Architect). One advances by doing the most work of the highest quality in their field. The government is mostly an advisory body; it does not provide many services. Services one would expect to handled by the government are handled by businesses.
[edit] Education
Formal Gazorgon education begins at two years of age. In toddlerhood young Gazorgoes learn the values of working together, applying oneself, and imagination through cooperative play, being given small problems to deal with, and being told Gazorgon folk tales from their parents and other adults who are close to them. At the beginning of childhood Gazorgoes begin schooling at privately-owned schools that must follow the government curriculum. They have a different teacher for each subject (each subject is taught in a rudimentary form) but stay in the same room with the same classmates. Values also are begun to be instilled in them by their parents and the school. In preadolescence the topics are gone into in more depth and even more so in adolescence, when Gazorgoes finally get to choose what they will learn and go around to classes by themselves. A Gazorgo finishes education once they learn everything in the topics they chose to a proficient level.
[edit] Jobs
Gazorgoes begin working immediately after finishing their schooling in the field they choose, which is usually a completely new position created out of a mixture of varying degrees of different topics. They work together in close conjunction under "master workers" (those who have created a masterpiece, not their master as in they own them). When a Gazorgo comes up with a new idea, creates something new, or does something never done before in their field of expertise, they become "master workers" and are allowed to have a child (Both partners need to create a masterpiece every time they want to have a child). Gazorgoes work until they reach elderhood.
[edit] Philosophy
The most widely accepted Gazorgon school of thought is based on fairness (Which is different from equality; everyone should get what they earn and deserve, not everyone should get the same thing). However, the Gazorgon government and the community as a whole does not want others to fail. For example, poorer Gazorgoes that work hard are provided for by wealthy employers in the form of food, shelter, health care, clothing, and other necessities of modern life instead of money, though the employee can choose how they are paid.
Another important concept is the division of labor in order to increase productivity and efficiency. Each separate task is done by a different Gazorgo working in conjunction with other Gazorgoes. This also makes society more coherent because everyone depends on everyone else.
A related area of Gazorgon belief is the importance of individuality. All Gazorgoes are expected to have a unique skill that no one else has in order to be more useful and effective to society as a whole. Creating, thinking of, or doing something new of value is one of the most important things a Gazorgo can do in their life.
A third belief is the value of hard work. As Gazorgon society is a meritocracy and you need to create a completely new masterpiece to have children, only those who work hard succeed. Those who do not like to work hard are forced to work for a period of time in which they receive benefits. After that they either choose to work or be expelled from Gazorgon society.
[edit] Religion
Most Gazorgoes believe in a pantheistic religion with elements of deism. In their creation story, there was no matter in the beginning of time, only a pure, enlightened force. The force then willed space into existence and matter was created with a ripple-like pulse. Somewhere along the edge of the pulse the Gazorgon planet coalesced. Eons later, the force willed simple life into existence on various planets, and it was created. The force does not interfere with the universe except with pulses, of which there have only been three. (The third is believed to have unlocked sapience.) It is believed there will be a fourth pulse that will cause a significant change, but what that change will be is in dispute. The cause of the pulse and what the actual pulse will be like are also believed to be different by others. However, all of those who believe this still organize themselves into one religion that has a day of rest and organized communal prayer every eighth day.
