Maa is a special Maxis-made cell that appears in the Cell stage's fifth level. It's uncommon feature is the fact that it lays eggs after mating with Paa, which soon hatch into Juniors. Maa also drops eggs when killed.
Maa makes its first appearance in the beginning of Level 5 as a predator-sized cell, and soon becomes a weak and slow peer-sized cell. She can be easy prey, as she has no defense. But be careful as she drops eggs when killed, which will hatch and attack you.

Maa's large, round rear end seems to indicate that she is pregnant.
