[edit] Quantor III

Quantor III is a scorching desert planet. Most of it's water comes in the form of rain, and a few underground streams scattered across the planet. Gravity on Quantor III is somewhat stronger than on Earth, but only slightly. The atmosphere on Quantor III is thick, causing a greenhouse effect of questionable stability. However, Quantor III has remained capable of supporting life for millions of years.

[edit] Timeline

Image:timeline_GIF.gif

As the above timeline suggests, the dominant lifeform on Quantor III, the Bulvaris, is a relatively newly evolved creature. The insects and mammals it hunts have been around far longer. At one time mammals were more abundant on Quantor III, but a mass extinction hit the planet a few million years ago. The cause of the extinction is currently unknown, though scientists have theorized that it may have had to do with climate changes or disease.

[edit] Wildlife

Quantor III is home to several species of insects and mammals, such as the Quantorian Sand Rat and Quantor Submarine. It is also home to a medium sized carnivore known as the Bulvaris, which is neither mammal, reptile, amphibian, bird, nor insect. It is at the top of the Quantorian food chain and has no natural predators in it's adult form. These highly specialized, and rather fierce, predators are sometimes known to be abducted from their homeworld for the purpose of being put in illegal arena fights with other hostile non-sapient creatures and intergallactic zoos.

[edit] Quantor I & II

Quantor III is named so because it is the third of three similar planets. Quantor I was a slightly smaller planet that was closest to it's sun. Due to intense temperatures and a runaway greenhouse effect, the planet is not much more than a searing-hot piece of rock. Quantor II, second closest to it's sun, had a relatively cooler temperature than Quantor I. If it were not for it's unstable geologic activity and constantly active volcanos, Quantor II may have been able to support life. Quantor III was the luckiest of the three planet, unplagued by earthquakes or volanic activity, and far enough away from it's sun to have a livable temperature and maintain water in it's liquid form.
