Sidehoppers are large insects that have large legs for jumping high above prey. They have small yellow heads with three fangs under it, and two large, blue eyes. A vast majority of them live in the jungle-like caverns of Brinstar, most of them are the small juveniles, but there are large adults living in some parts. A larger blue variety was also found in Tourian, but the only recorded specimen was attacked and killed by a metroid. The withered husk of the blue sidehopper was collected for testing, but once placed in the test tube, it crumbled to dust. Other attempts to take one in for testing failed, as the explorers were killed and eaten. The sidehopper is a strange creature indeed and it shares similarities with the Desgeega, another type of insect with large legs for jumping.
