Springheels are common herbivores out on the deserts of Helen. Various species live in large herds like zebra or cattle. However, in form and function, they most resemble gazelles. The single front leg of this creature is very flexible, but it is the two back legs that give the springheel its name. These hind legs are very powerful, and allow for the creature to jump forward great distances. By alternately setting down its hind legs and its front leg (similar to a cheetah), the springheel can reach speeds of up to 45 mph. These animals have streamlined shapes, and respiratory patches that run the entire length of its body, allowing for greater speed and stamina. Their optical organs also face in both directions: forwards and backwards, nearly giving the springheel a 360° field of vision to watch out for predators.
