[edit] The Scourge
These large insectiods are a mixture of The Swarm in Gears of War and tyranids in Warhammer 40,000. Simply, they fly about in space looking for any planet with life on it. They then swarm all over it, kill, eat, destroy, all that kind of thing, then leave the planet in ruin for the survivors in a process that takes about 10 Earth hours. They dont even let the Planet say "Hey guys, you can take anything you want, just don't hurt anyone or destroy our cities".
[edit] Anti-Scourge Troopers
After the Scourge had destroyed about 37 planets, several Empires, includint those at war, sent most or all their troops to and army known as the SDLA (Scourge Defence Liberation Army) to wipe out the Scourge. The leader was in fact, a Scourge Insect himself, however he was raised from a larve by some SDLA scientists to create an "Anti-Insect" as a defence. The leader, known as General Scyd, lead many troops in a desperate chase to kill the Scourge.
[edit] Scourge Life Cycle
The life cycle of a Scourge Insect takes around 50 years.
[edit] Hatchlet (Hatching day - 5th Year)
This stage is where the Insect has just hatched from the egg, they are pretty harmless, they can even be raised by a different side. But the Scourge "Queens" defend them so well that its impossible to steal them. They are practicly slugs.
[edit] Larve (5th Year - 15th year)
Here they have just grown their wings, their a bit more strong then a Hatchlet but they're still pretty weak.
[edit] Juvinile (15th year - 25th Year)
This is when they expierance their form of puberty, by the end of it their fully funcioning adults, while their Juviniles you can expect an equal fight, but their still pretty strong.
[edit] Adult (25th Year and onwads)
While males join the Swarm to mate with queens, the females become Queens, which have pretty blue "tails" grow out of their backs, the larger and brighter the tails, the more appealing they are to males. After the mating, the Queen lays the eggs in the Hive Planet, which can only be navigated to by insinct of the Queen. Once the eggs are layed, the queen raises them until the beggining of juvinilecy, where they re-join the swarm to find another mate.
After the 50 years, the Insect dies, and the next generation lives on.

[edit] Old Swarm
The old swarm was the hardest Swarm to beat, they were a new threat and they were moving too fast for the tecnology at that time. Even Austa Minor was too caught up in their own wars on Austa Greater to help. However eventualy after 7 ravaging years, armies finnaly killed enough of them to make them flee.
Death Toll: About 40,000,000 dead - 12,874 wounded - 784 Missing in Action
Swarm Deaths: About 2,000,000 exterminated - 3,000 Eggs nests found and destroyed

The New Swarm had cut its work out for itself, they destroyed the most of the planet already, and they were a lot lower in number this time. And when the SDLA arived, the swarm's final chapter closed.
Death Toll: About 3,000 dead, none civillian - 1,993 wounded - 27 missing in action
Swarm Deaths: About 5,000,000 exterminated - 70,000 Egg nests found and destroyed - Swarm Home Planet Destroyed
