[edit] Origins

The Vexarion Photophoid is a bizarre mixture of plant, animal, and machine. It was created by the Vexarions to guard their cities and colonies, not to mention aid their allies. They were designed to be better than the Mouthys in every way possible, but this was not acheived.

[edit] Evolution

They did not evolve, but were created by the Vexarions in labs. They are a conglomerate of genetic samples strewn throughout the galaxy, and retreived by the Vexarions.

[edit] Morphology

Standard Soldier (no special programs)

They are six feet tall, and walk bipedally on two root like, clawed feet. They have long hands with long, vine like fingers, and they also have spikes growing up their arms. Their are almost flat, and are rounded, with two tentacles sprouting from their head. The tentacles have thorns capped with stinging cells. They have four eyes, and a large mouth with fangs. Their tongue is very long and flexible, and bears resemblance to an earthworm. The tongue is also capable of shocking things with powerful electric charges. They have a cape-like leaf structure on their back whitch they use for photosynthesis. The leaf is also very durable, and is sometimes used as a sheild. They are covered in small prickly hairs, that are transparent. Said hair can also change color to camoflauge the photophoid.

Programs

Becuase they are programmed like machines (see below), they can be given special abilities for combat on certain worlds. This makes them extremely adaptable. In fact, if they are reassigned to a different environment, they can be given different programs. Only Battle Photophoids are able to receive programs.

Examples: Dark World: Nightvision and Non- Photosynthesis programs.

Underwater World: Non- Root, Fin, and Light Weight programs.

Desert World: Water Storage Increase, Heat Resistance, Speed Increase , and Extra Leaf programs.

Jungle World: Long Arms, Stealth Increase , Instinct Increase, Burrowing, and Camoflauge Speed Increase.

[edit] Psycology

Because this is a two part experiment, there are two categories of Photophoids:

Battle Photophoids

Battle Photophoids are the Photophoids built to fulfill the creations original purpose: Soldiers. They are able to receive programs, and are fully sapient. They are not able to rebel however, as they can only do one task; for example, one may be programmed to be a typical soldier, while another will be a Commando. Though there are no physical differences, the mental differences are very drastic. The soldier cannot give orders, it can only receive them. The Commando however, is able to give orders, and is more combat profficient than the soldier. Nor do they have any true emotions. Other than these limitations, they are fully capable of complex thought.

Wild Photophoids

Wild Photophoids are non-sentient Photophoids that are at the creature stage of intelligence, and are slowly evolving on an abandoned planet near the Grodthium System. They are omniverous and are fully vulnerable to sickness and other things, unlike their battle ready counterparts. Though they are still evolving slowly, these Photophoids have a much more rapid rate of evolution than other species. They are only there because the Vexarions wish it, and they only did this because of their simultaneous find of an empty planet, and the breakthrough of the current Photophoid model. The rest of this article pertains to the Battle Photophoid.

[edit] Armor and Armaments

As Photphoids are sapient, and the things below are customizable, these are only the standard facts; Photophoids love to cuztomize their equipment. Also, all of these things are psyically and mentally linked to the user.

Armor: Photophoids generally do not wear armor out of combat, but have a very advanced robotic armor. This armor has a visor which can see in any point of the spectrum, and a handheld energy sheild able to deflect most weaponry. It also has bionic armguards, leggings, and plating around the tentacles, to augment the Photophoids already formidable strength. The chest plate wraps around to cover the entire torso, and is equipped with two booster rockets to allow for quick dashes and limited flight. The rest of the body is covered in a thin layer of force-fieldesque sheilding.

Weaponry: Though Photophoids are already equipped with biological weaponry, they also are given extensive amounts of destructive devices by the Vexarions. They are equipped with two standard Vexarion Blaster Pistols (mounted in the wrist area), a mini cannon mounted on each shoulder, an explosives launcher located just above the booster jets, a device that emits EMP waves in the chest armor. They are even given a retractable blade in each of their armguards.

Transportation: Although the average Photophoid is capable of surviving without oxygen, and moving at high speeds, this won't be enough to propel them through space. Instead, massive warships, the biggest being the size of entire stars, ar constructed. Each one is custom built to fit the mission, or it is given an extreme overhaul afterwards. Even the smallest of the carrier ships is capable of destroying planets. As for the fighter ships, they are generally manned by three Photophoids, each with a linked nervous system. This way, one steers, one navigates and communicates , and one operates the weapons. This strategy makes them deathly efficient pilots. Ground assualt vehicles are usually either very large or very small, with few vehicles in between. Large vehicles are usually deployed in small quantities, as three or four is usually enough to invade a continent. Smaller vehicles are usually scouts or thhe general attack force, backed by large vehicles. And the vehicles between are the best of both worlds, though not as profficient in each category.

[edit] Failed Photophoids

The Vexarions, scientific geniuses that they are, were relativly new to genetic science when the project began. They went through several prototypes.

Version One

The Version One was very primitive, and was not even considered a real Photophoid in the beggining. It was more of a practice test for the Vexarions so that they could try genetic engineering before blowing billions of credits on a flop. It had two three toed legs coming from the back of its large, needle shaped head. It had one large eye on the front of it's head, no nostrils or ears, and two vine like arms where the ears would've been. It had the intelligence of an earthworm. Needless to say, only one was created, and it died in a matter of hours.

Version Two

Slightly better, but it did not come close to the ability of the current model. It was more humanoid, with four short thorn covered vines serving as arms and legs. It's body was almost spherical, and it housed the brain. The head was an elipse, and the leaf was locted as the bottom jaw. Unfortunately, this made it hard to collect sunlight, and becuase it was not given basic intelligence, it snapped it's neck trying to elevate it's jaw more.

Version Three

About half as good as the current Photophoid, Version Three had the same torso, but with palm frond leaves all around it. It's head was rounded and it had two eyes. It also had a single electrical tentacle on the top of it's head, and it had a mess of vines to scoot it along. It lived the longest so far, but when other creatures were introduced, it shocked them wildly, and could not replenish it's energy fast enough.

Version Four

It was the same as Version Three, but with the shocking function removed. It's limbs were also scaled down, and the feild of tentacles was removed in favor of three legs. These legs were very similar to the current legs, but with slight tweaks to allow for it's tripedal form. It actually lived less than Version Two, as it accumulated so much energy, but it had very little ways to release it. It then exploded.

Version Five

Very similar to Version Four, but it had only one leaf on it's back, like the current model. It was still tripedal, and it had four slit eyes. It also received arms, which were six vines, three on each side. This one made it all the way to the combat testing phase, and was even given intelligence, but proved to inhuman in form to commandeer vessels, etc.

Version Six

A carbon copy of the Current model, minus the chamealion hairs and it only had two fingers on each hand, as opposed to the current model's three. It also went into combat testing, but went into a berserker rage when given weapons. It was also deemed "physically linear" by Vexarion scientists. This is why the program system was implemented.

Version Seven

Current Version.
