The Waderats are a species which naturally inhabit marshlands of their homeworld, where they wade through the wetlands, using the feathery extensions on their bellies to detect their prey as it moves about under the surface of the water. Ever the opportunist, anything they detect moving beneath them can be sucked up using their strange tail apparatus to be taken ashore to eat at the Waderat's leisure.

Tools: Waderats utilize all four of their legs to move around, and therefore none of these can be used for manipulatory purposes. However, their species type have long evolved a special apparatus-organ on their tail, that can create a sudden vacuum by opening up suddenly combined with actual sucking power thanks to secondary lungs located in their tail, and once an object has been sucked into this, the Waderat can squeeze the muscles around the object and hold it as powerfully as if they had an actual hand. However, this is used only for catching prey, and they are considered not tremendously likely candidates toward future sapiency.
Method of Eating: Unspecified
Reproductive Rate: Unspecified
Gestation: 1 month then gives birth.
Number of Offspring: 5-8 pups per litter.
Offspring Survival Rate (before age of maturity): 37% -- Waderats are far from the top of their local ecosystem's food chain, and their pups are often eaten. However, there are plenty of adult Waderats to ensure propagation of the species.
Singular/Plural: Waderat/Waderats
