Williams' Snorter has three sets of arms: the lowest arms are used as a foraging device, the middle arms are used during combat, and the uppermost limbs are used primarily during mating. It is named for its ability to suck food particles and liquids into its long proboscis through the uppermost of two nostrils. It also has two mouths (one on each side of the head) and two anuses, according to Robin Williams.

Williams' Snorter was created by Robin Williams during a demonstration of Spore's creature editor during E3 2006. The comedian was an apt choice for demonstrator, as he had previous experience with aliens having played one in the hit show Mork and Mindy
