Creature talk:Screeble
From SporeWiki, the knowledge base dedicated to Spore
I noticed that the stripe pattern of the Screeble in the screenshot is not the final stripe pattern Will Wright gave it. The one shown was just a pattern he selected to show the audience. The final pattern was a single large stripe down the creature's back and if someone can get a picture with the correct pattern please fix this, but if not the current picture is fine. [edit] New Taxon
I changed screebles taxon a while back, i was so sick of the taxon calling it a bird-headed reptile, i changed it, then nobody seemed to change it back, does that mean people agree that screeble should be a bovid? 159.250.29.4 18:42, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- You are more than right. Screeble has a pig face, not a bird face! OluapPlayer 19:59, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- It has marshcara. robostuart@gmail.com 19:50, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Youre right, i dont agree on it being an insect [that thing clearly is a chordate!] and really there are not enough arthropodic traits to call it an insect but it should be a suid my bad :P 24.60.143.148 22:38, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Extinct?
The Screebles column says the screeble civilization is extinct, does that mean they are? should we mark its genus with a cross? 159.250.29.4 18:43, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- I am not sure, because you can see the Screeble in Sporepedia, but the column say they died. That's a good question. OluapPlayer 19:54, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I came up with a new possibility, it is that the Screeble Civilization went extinct, but the race remained extant, i'm not sure if this is the smartest answer but it is possible 159.250.29.4 19:29, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- If you destroy the civilization, you destroy the species. I think Screeble should gain a cross. OluapPlayer 19:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I Agree! Screeble should be mark with a cross 24.60.143.148 21:45, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I added a Cross, It was the Logical thing to do, Goodbye Screeble, We will all miss you 24.60.143.148 21:49, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Well, any species can't live forever. So long Screeble! OluapPlayer 21:51, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Didnt you mean Can't Live forever, but yeah, i think screeble is extinct. 24.60.143.148 22:08, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Ops. My bad :P OluapPlayer 22:26, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
The civilization is gone, but they still exist in the game. Remove that cross! robostuart@gmail.com 02:04, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- The Screebles that do exist have just been recreated by players, they are not and cannot be the original screeble created by Maxis. The Screebles
- column states they became extinct, this is because that version of Spore is dead, thus the Screebles are all extinct :( Wormulon 11:42, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- Wormulon, the Screeble is a Maxis-made creature in the final game. Just search his name in Maxis' Sporepedia and you will find it. OluapPlayer 16:36, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- The screeble have changed, but they are not gone! robostuart@gmail.com 14:56, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- Wormulon, the Screeble is a Maxis-made creature in the final game. Just search his name in Maxis' Sporepedia and you will find it. OluapPlayer 16:36, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- Stop doing this. The game says they are gone. Your causing an edit war, and if this happens, the page will have to be be protected. OluapPlayer 18:06, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- Because I know that the dispute will turn into an edit war, here is what the wiki has on that: Administrators should not use their administrator powers to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version he or she prefers in an editing dispute that isn't vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally an admin shouldn't be considered "in charge". The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the Wikia community. Disagree and i'll hold this against you, OluapPlayer! robostuart@gmail.com 04:11, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- He does not have to disagree. The problem is that the game itself says that they are extinct. Even if it did not, the Screebles as they were first made are extinct, as Spore changed since that demo video was made. As that make of Screeble is what is talked about on the page, it would be out of place to claim that they are not extinct.
- Also, if he had 'locked' the page, it would be just that, locked. You would be unable to make any edit. morgoth t/C 04:24, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- I meant I would use it against him with a mental weapon: shame. Shame of doing what the wiki said should not be done. Shame of locking a page when the wiki said that's not a good reason to lock it. You CAN understand that, right?robostuart@gmail.com 04:37, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- This is why this needs to stop. You care about winning, not about finding which of the versions is better. Yes, Oluap was getting a little carried away with the threat of protecting the page, but that is not why you brought up SporeWiki policy. If you had said: "Look, you're getting carried away, let's resolve this peacefully here" and talked it out then that's one thing. But you did not, and you used it as a weapon. Now, can we please stop this pointless bickering? morgoth t/C 14:08, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- What do you mean the game says they are gone? The screebles column says that the CIVILIZATION is gone. It does NOT say that the screebles are gone! If it did, may I please have an explanation of why they are in the game as a maxis creature? robostuart@gmail.com 19:48, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- In Spore, which you probably have not got, the creature is destroyed along with the empire and civs. 80.44.254.158 20:38, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- Alright Mr. IP user. You have not checked out my spore page. Otherwise, you would have noticed that I, Stuart98's(AKA 9 Spore Fans) achievments can NOT be gotten without the game. Also, check out my user page and look at my picture that I have on it. robostuart@gmail.com 00:39, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
It is time to end this, it is not getting us anywhere. The Screebles today are not the same as they were in 2006, the editors where slightly different back then. Screebles now are only recreations and they have subtle differences. And please do not keep removing the extinct creatures category from pages. Wormulon 11:10, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
