Sometimes... life puts you in circumstances you didn't choose. Nor would you, if you had a choice. But we, as a people have decided to make the most of things as we can.

- Senator Chacia

The Alavar are a humanoid species native to Iruband, or Anamalia in their native tongue, in the Kuuraen Sector of the Cyrannian Outer Rim. One of the galaxy's most widespread species, the Alavar are known for their long head-tails and vibrantly coloured skin, and have become almost as common as Libertus or Ortella on the galactic stage.

Soon after the species became spacefaring in 11,019 BNE, their homeworld was conquered by the Basileus, who renamed the planet Iruband, establishing a brutal regime over the peaceful humanoids. Their homeworld was liberated by the Neudani Star Kingdoms during the War of Red Wastes against the Basileus Imperium, and under the terms of the Skyridiil Accords, was afforded the status of membership in the Federation of United Worlds. Since that time, the Alavar have spread across the stars, garnering a name for themselves as a tenacious and strong people, known for their pleasing looks and steadfast faith in democracy.

History[]

Arising from the temperate world of Anamalia in the Kuuraen Sector of the Outer Rim, the Alavar achieved spacefaring capabilities in 11,019 BNE, though as a people, remained content to remain within their stellar neighbourhood, rarely exploring beyond their native sector. Nevertheless, when they began to expand, their unarmed scout ships began encountering mercenary and slaver vessels loyal to the nearby world Tar Kuuraen, along the important Perliama Hyperlane. Known for their beauty and grace among other mammalian species, the Alavar and their homeworld soon came under attack by these scoundrels, ultimately drawing the attention of the expansionistic Basileus. During this period of warfare and strife, millions of Alavar migrated to the Quadrant Galaxies, establishing a population which eventually became known as the Qalavar.

The Imperium swiftly conquered Anamalia and established a brutal regime over the native humanoids, scattering their people across the galaxy as a result. Anamalia was renamed Iruband, and successive Basileus mandators strip-mined the once beautiful surface of the world to support their growing war machine. The occupation would last for centuries, and inflicted great cultural and societal trauma on the Alavar. Their liberation would come from beyond their known space, when flotillas loyal to the Cavaneu-aligned Neudani Star Kingdoms liberated Anamalia during the so-called War of Red Wastes in 10,619 BNE.

Moved by the plight of the Alavar, the Cavaneu High King Moncúd I offered Anamalia membership in the Star Kingdoms, with the planet developing as a protectorate, and later a self-governing kingdom under the Cavaneu Cerulean Throne—represented by a line of Alavari monarchs. Although Alavar across the galaxy would continue to face hardship and enslavement by factions such as the Mortalitas Empire and the Imperial Alliance, those who remained on the homeworld became influential players in the Neudani Star Kingdoms, and later, galactic governments such as the Federation of United Worlds and the United Republic of Cyrannus.

Represented by Senator Chacia in the Republic Senate in its final years, the Alavar would, like the rest of the galaxy, face a transition with the establishment of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus in 01 NE, heralding a new age for the galaxy. While the vast majority of Alavar, such as Chacia herself, would favour the Cyrandia Resistance and the New Cyrannian Republic, others such as Admiral Rela Loupál rose to stations of high power within the Imperial hierarchy. During the Second Great Cyrannus War, the Alavar smuggler Corva, who had previously become a hero among the people of Rambo Nation, played a critical role in rallying the downtrodden of Orbispira to rise up against the Imperials during the cataclysmic Great Battle in 20 NE.

Corva later played a role in helping the New Republic liberate Anamalia from the Imperial Remnant during the opening stages of the War of the Holds in 23 NE. In the aftermath, the Alavar have prospered under the Republic's reign over the galaxy, playing a crucial role in reconstruction and general recovery throughout the galaxy.

Characteristics[]

Culture and Society[]

Known for their culture of peace and tranquility, the Alavar appear from the onset as a relatively average Cyrannian species. However, underneath their culture lies a trait that has earned the Alavar the respect of most of Cyrannus' residents; their will to survive. However, as a people, their history of hardship and slavery has resulted in a sense of apathy toward the future, and a deep seated sense of melancholy about the nature of the universe.

Biology and Appearance[]

Known for their natural beauty, the Alavar are often considered one of the most beautiful mammalian species in Cyrannus. They do not grow hair, instead they have two fleshy head-tails growing at the back of their heads. These tails are extremely sensitive and one can immobilize an Alavar by injuring one of them. In relation to this, the Alavar are generally much weaker then most of the other major Cyrannian species, to the extent that a Mortalitas can quite easily crush one under it's foot.

Individuals[]

Senator Chacia

My allegiance is to Anamalia and her people. I'll never shirk from my duties to serve them.

Chaciá is a female Alavar who emerged as the predominant political leader of the Alavar from the First Great War to era of the New Republic. One of the strongest advocates of the democratic process in the Senate of the United Republic of Cyrannus, Chaciá was elected when she was twenty one years old, but gained a reputation throughout Republic space for her ability to voice her opinion regardless of political pressure, earning the respect of many other senators and government officials.

Raised on Anamalia, Chacia's family were sold into slavery when she was young by the Cyrannian Syndicate, though they were ultimately liberated by a Republic taskforce. As a young senator, she became committed to protecting her people and preventing the fate of her family being visited on any other innocents. When the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus was established, she initially supported the regime based on its promises of greater security and order, but ultimately resigned from the Senate and joined the Cyrandia Resistance alongside Kyrsá Nimrais of Mandatine. She fought against the Empire throughout the Second Great War, and was elected to the Senate of the New Republic upon the end of the conflict in 26 NE.

Corva

Money is a girl's best friend!

Corva is a female Alavar who works as a privateer in service to the New Cyrannian Republic, as the captain of the freighter Falcon.

Claiming to have seen more of the galaxy than most, Corva is a fun-loving, fortune seeking, wise cracking rogue, whose cunning and intelligence have made her a famous figure in the Cyrannian underworld. A native of the galactic capital Orbispira, Corva soon found friendship with a fellow rogue, the Paladian known as Tironus Manition and ultimately found friendship with the exiled leader of the Cognatus Remnant, Voro Acetenus as well as famed Rambo officer Claire Rambo.

Despite years of working solely in the interest of her crew, Corva's hatred for the Empire led her to support the New Republic as a privateer during the Second Great Cyrannus War. Along with Tironus, she played a key role during the Great Battle of Orbispira in 20 NE, during which she helped rally Orbispira's civilian populace against the Empire. After the end of the war, Corva was hailed as a hero of the Republic, though she soon returned to life as a smuggler in the Outer Rim.

Lou'Pal

Empire eternal!

Rela Loupál is female Alavar who served as an Admiral in the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, commanding the Executor-class Star Dreadnought, Empirical.

An intelligent and capable military officer, Loupál's devotion to the Emperor and the institutions of the Empire caught the attention of Grand Admiral Carandial, who considered the young Alavar to be his most promising protegee during the Dark Times. When Carandial was assigned the flagship Imperatore, Loupál was promoted to Admiral and gained command of Carandial's former flagship, the Empirical. Though she and her ship survived the Battle of Orbispira, she was killed at the pivotal Battle of Taracondor in Ianuaria 23 NE. With the destruction of her Super Star Destroyer, control over the Mid Rim fell to the Republic.

As a commander, Loupál was insightful, loyal and dedicated and was willing to die for what she saw as the greater good, in her case the continuation of the Imperial order through a strong and well-equipped naval armada.
