The Anatinus is an official Maxis creature, present in the final game. The name is based on the scientific name of the only extant species of platypus, Ornithorhynchus anatinus.
Anatinus can both fight and impress in social situations. It is a herbivore, so its combat skills are likely purely for defense. It has a weak bite, but it has venomous spurs on its ankles. If attacked, Anatinus will poison its foe with fairly powerful defensin-like proteins, which are powerful enough to kill small animals, and painful enough to incapacitate larger creatures.
When attempting to impress others, it is known to dance quite well. It can also sing moderately well.
