The HXT Carrier is an organic mini-tank and a breeding unit of the Darrennarrgh Breed HXTs.

Role[]

Their purpose is to produce Rippers, which spread the DNA-mutating disease known as ZazDie. Carriers also serve as living mini-tanks, standing at 6 metres tall. They will always go into a frenzy after giving birth to their Ripper spawn, induced by the natural instinct to protect their young. When in a fenzy, they will smash and destroy anything they see that is not of HXT origin, from vehicles and buildings to plants and animals. They will regain control of themselves when they feel that their young is now safe. This maternal instinct is a very powerful weapon if used during assaults.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Carriers are hunch-backed creatures with four arms, two large arms at their sides with two smaller arms coming from their chest, which are equipped with shredding claws that can tear through most materials. Their heads and backs are armoured, and they rely on their sense of smell to detect non-HXT life forms, like their Ripper children. They have six growths coming from their backs, each one usually containing two Rippers. The growths will tear apart when the Rippers hatch, but will repair within several minutes. They have two large mandibles at the sides of their mouths, and a pair of massive sharp blades at the ends of their tails.

Behaviour[]

When carrying Rippers, which they produce automatically, they will tend to stay at the back of HXT assaults, as they want to live long enough for their Ripper children to hatch. When they do hatch, Carriers will go into a frenzy and tear apart mostly any non-HXT constrict or being it can see. This is because of an enhanced maternal instinct, as all Carriers and Rippers are female. When not in assaults, they will most commonly be seen alongside HXT Cannons, who will allow Rippers to be attached to them.

Abilities[]

They have the ability to tell the difference between HXTs and non-HXTs by sensing small vibrations in the ground, like their children. Also like their children, they can spread ZazDie to Zazane through their mandibles and tail blades.

Reproduction[]

Carriers will automatically give birth to 12 Rippers, two Rippers in each one of its six back-growths. They will give birth to Rippers every 12 hours, and Rippers will evolve into Carriers after a week. It was once thought that Carriers breed with Cannons to produce Rippers, but this has been proven false, as Cannons reproduce through mitosis and all Carriers are female.

Combat[]

Attacks[]

Carriers will mostly attack by throwing objects at their foes, or when in close combat, attacking them with their mighty shredding claws. Also, on some occasions, they will attack using their mandibles, mostly as a way of throwing vehicles and foes aside, and will commonly use their tail blades to do the same thing. Their speed of attack increases after Rippers hatch from their back-growths. It is uncommon, but sometimes Carriers will try to rip the heads off their enemies.

Evasion[]

The best way to avoid Carriers are to get up high, as they cannot climb like their Ripper children. Also, running through narrow passages and areas with many corners will slow a Carrier down. When Carriers run, they can get clumsy and often bash into things or fall over while trying to turn, which slows them down significantly.

Tactics[]

The best place to attack a Carrier is near the snout, as it is a vulnerable and fleshy place. Carriers also cannot swim, so flooding the area they reside in will eventually cause their death. Also, above the chest is another fleshy part, and so stabbing or shooting there would significantly damage one of their vital organ and make them bleed to death.
