The Kevantar are a race of isolationists who follow the Word of Spode. They believe that all other races are inferior and not worthy to exist in Spode's divine creation, therefore, they destroy all others. Their long- term agenda includes few things, such as: the collection of all artifacts, the destruction of the Grox, and the final challenge that is in The Book of Spode, reaching the center of the galaxy. These three things are what drive the Kevantarian war machine, and continue their expansion. Their empire encompasses areas all over the galaxy, through extensive use of wormholes, known to them as "Portals of Spode". The center of the galaxy is known to them as the "Eye of Spode", which is "the center of all creation". (The Book of Spode 1.3) Obviously, the Kevantar seek enlightenment by connecting with their god as much as physically possible.

The closest species in relation to the Kevantar are the Aegin (Callidus baatar).

Early History[]

Starting off early on as a race of carnivores, the Kevantar proved to be a savage race, killing for pleasure more than survival. This is what they believe the "Almighty One" chose them for, their isolationist traits. (Note: the Kevantar hadn't been introduced to Spode yet at this point.) Some Kavantar seem to have shown semi- intelligence, with drawings and some sort of written language dating back sixty one million years ago. This develops shortly thereafter into full blown intelligence after organization into tribes.

Spode's Introduction[]

Sometime during the tribal era, Spode was introduced to the Kevantar. There is much speculation on the matter of how exactly Spode was introduced. Three theories have been made, only one the Kevantar actually believe. These include:

  1. Spode himself came down from the heavens and commanded all to obey. Only the Kevantar bowed down, and all others were eventually destroyed on their home planet. (The one the Kevantar believe.)
  2. A more advanced civilization came in their UFO and introduced Spode.
  3. The Kevantar completely succumbed to a faith conjured up by a madman claiming to be a prophet.

The second and third possibilities are more likely, but it is uncertain, as the Kevantar oddly have no written record of the introduction of Spode. The "Symbol of Spode" appeared and Spode's name started showing up in tribal writings. The only historical record of the creation of the Spode religion is the Book of Spode, which is highly biased. Shortly after the arrival of Spode, the Kevantar's attitude towards others sharply changed. This is accredited to the Kevantar's goal to unify the planet under Spode's holy name. The others didn't bow down, and were reverted back to non- sentient ways when the Kevantar went forward.

The First Crusade[]

Fifty five thousand years ago, the Kevantar arose as the first major city on the planet of Kalowna, the holy city of Kevantaria. Even stronger was their faith in the Book of Spode. But some within the fledgling nation didn't wish to follow the same path as the Zealots. Other factions arose in the same fashion as Kevantaria. The Zealots saw the others as heathens, and took it upon themselves to destroy the unbelievers. The brutish acts of the military nations were a disgrace, and the materialistic acts of the economic nations were an abomination. They had to be destroyed. After four thousand years, the unbelievers were all either converted or annihilated. The Zealots won and unified the planet under Spode. The highest leaders of the Church of Spode realized the final leg of their grand journey is space. With that, the Kevantar's greatest creation was built, the Starship "The Hand of Spode". They had made it to space.

Galactic Expansion[]

The Kevantar realized the importance of the center of the galaxy, recognizing it as the "Eye of Spode". They also realized that it was for them to discover and no one else. "Nothing must be allowed to hinder our victory!" (Book of Spode 8.2)

The Second Crusade[]

The first galactic civilization that was discovered by the Kevantar was the Langar Empire. A carefree species that followed the Blocks of Chance, the Langar insulted the Spode religion. The Kevantar were appalled by the lack of respect for the "Almighty One". Not yet as aggressive as they are now, they set out to convert the Langar. To the center of their empire, their homeworld, they flew, and used their greatest weapon, the Fanatical Frenzy. The Langar did not appreciate the Kevantar's attempt to convert them, and declared war. Also, unbeknown to the Kevantar, they broke the Galactic Code. All surrounding empires declared war on the fledgling nation. The Kevantar first went after Langar worlds, and used their rich spice deposits to fuel their cause. The Kevantar knew they would not last an interstellar war, so, using Langar spice, paid the aggressors off. There was peace for a short while. During that time, the Kevantar filled their treasury and invested into more powerful weapons. The Valdorix Empire was the first target. The galactic code was broken once more. One by one all the enemies worlds fell. The Valdorix, the Popper, the Murglbrg, and the Singtoo all fell. No other empire existed within seventy parsecs. The Second Crusade ended.

Artifacts[]

The Kevantar's agenda includes finding all artifacts. The most important of these is completing the Scrolls of Faith, which contain the Book of Spode. The Kevantar have only discovered four of these texts, and will not stop until they are all found. All other philosophical texts are sent to Andasphon, their equivalent of "hell". All other relics, fossils, statues, and gems are sent to the holy moon, Mussus.

"Portals of Spode"[]

The "Portals of Spode", or wormholes, are considered hallowed. They allow the Kevantar passage to the other side of the galaxy. Any wormhole is considered a point of expansion for the Kevantarian Empire. Some even deliver you into the heart of Grox territory. These wormholes are essential to the very existence of the Kevantar Empire.

The Galactic Code[]

The Kevantar believe that the galactic code was fabricated be the civilizations that follow the "God That Will Come". They have no regard for any doctrines that are followed by the many civilizations in the galaxy, and have no problem violating it. They have used the Fanatical Frenzy superweapon several times, and annihilated all who opposed its use. All who follow the galactic code are not worthy to exist in Spode's Galaxy.

The Grox[]

"The Grox are a machine race incapable of understanding the Word of Spode. They are a blasphemy in machine form." (Book of Spode 7.1) The Kevantar follow the Book of Spode and utterly despise the Grox. One of their tasks on their agenda is the destruction of the vile beings and is considered the Third Crusade. The Grox are also the only thing that stands between them and the "Eye of Spode". "The Grox prevent us from shining the light of Spode on the center of the galaxy. On the Day of Reckoning, we shall destroy them in Spode's holy name!" (Book of Spode 8.1) On that day, according to the Book of Spode, "...all shall achieve Enlightenment." (Book of Spode 8.5)

Captain[]

The new leader of the Kevantarian Expeditionary Force is Arcturus Mensk. Don't scoff if you recognize the name. I DID change it slightly.
