They embody death as the Winter does. Cold and merciless, and their presence ever-looming, the monsters of stone-skin will not cease their infestation of the world and none will brave fighting them at their core, if they so much as have one. They are not so much creatures as they are an inevitable force of nature. Bringers of disaster, reapers of death.

- Fuqisaran Naraanye of the Lagosi

The Avkhámalasǣavnraṃǣnauā́lmarí (Chaosphere Tongue: Vargash's Chimera), most known as Lympharians, are a race of golems who are the main servants of Vargash in Koldenwelt and the main race of the Lympharian Collective.

History

The exact date of the Lympharians' creation has long been lost. The Harbinger was the first Lympharian, and he created the rest of his race by using his converting powers on other creatures to turn them into Lympharians. The species spread across Koldenwelt like a plague, aiding the inhabitants of the Void in destroying the world until 15,000 years ago, when the Old Colossi defeated Vargash. The defeat of their master caused the Lympharians to die out for the next 8,000 years until the Harbinger reawakened and began repopulating his race by converting more innocents into Lympharians. The first sightings of the Lympharians working with the Shiarchon happened during the War for the Eye, and since then, the crystal golems are assumed to be members of the Legion of Shiarchon.

Characteristics

Biology

Lympharians are golems composed by a combination of Koldenwelt rock and crystals hailing from the realm of Crystallis. These crystals are harvested by the souls of the Lympharians' victims, which are then used to create new bodies for them. Appearance-wise, the Lympharians all appear as tall, reptilian creatures with draconic head structures and a centaur-shaped torso. They possess a strong pair of arms, two pairs of legs which greatly show their rocky composition and a long, flexible tail with a twin-headed stinger at its tip. As they do not have a concept of genders, Lympharians do not possess sexual dimorphism.

Behaviour

A Lympharian's ability to develop a mind of his own is proportionate to his age and power. The more powerful and ancient a Lympharian is, the greater the chance of him developing a personality. Most Lympharians are completely mindless, not in the sense that they are insane, but in the sense that their minds are completely blank. Lympharians are stoic and not capable of emotion, not even negative ones, and they show indifferent toward both their closest allies and their worst enemies. While commoners often believe Lympharians are zealous creatures who follow Vargash as a god, the creatures instead follow him as a master instead of a deity, and they refer to him and the other Chaosphere Gods as gods not because they worship and have a belief system for them, but because they consider it a fact. Due to their stoicism, Lympharians very rarely speak, and those who do often only speak in short, laconic sentences.

Abilities

Lympharians, being creatures of rock and demonic crystal, are noted for their physical prowess and endurance. The average Lympharian warrior is physically stronger than the stronger known humanoids, being capable of breaking the bones of a man's body with backhanded smacks or slaps, and heavy enough to crumble reinforced walls by using charges. Lympharians are noted for moving slowly, but they compensate this by enduring great amounts of punishment before falling, with their hardened skins causing attacks such as longsword or battleaxe blows to bounce off unless applied great force. The armies of the world have figured Lympharians are more vulnerable to blunt weaponry, with warhammers being the most effective non-magical weapons to use against such creatures. Lympharians channel Void magic through their staves which they can use to blast their enemies from long distances and create more demon crystal to convert other creatures into more Lympharians. Cold iron and silver have both proven effective at causing damage to Lympharians, but the single most powerful weapon against them is sun magic, which causes the Lympharians' powers to be nullified.

Individuals

Harbinger
MiniHarbinger

I herald the end.

  • Name - Praenuntius
  • Affiliation - Lympharian Collective
  • Status - Active

Praenuntius, the Harbinger is the first Lympharian as well as the leader of the Lympharian Collective. The only Lympharian created from scratch, molded by the talons of the Thousand-Horned Dragon himself, all Lympharians were later created in Praenuntius' image. The master of the Crystal Manifests of Vargash, Praenuntius is an immortal demon who has terrorized the world ever since Vargash's arrival to its surface, and legends claim he was present in nearly every war between the denizens of the Void and the old inhabitants of the world. While he was created from scratch, some cultists of the Simulacra speculate a soul of a fallen Old Colossus was used to create the Harbinger.

Praenuntius is notable for having lich-like traits, and his soul is stored within a Kruos artifact known as the Ending Phylactery, located at the deepest parts of the Collective's Crystal Network, allowing him to return to the world of the living even if slain by demigods. Praenuntius is also capable of possessing the bodies of other Lympharians or cultists in order to directly take control of them from a distance, and he can do this multiple times at once in order to have full knowledge of multiple events at the same time. Praenuntius is noted for his incredible power over the Void which allows him to stand toe-to-toe against beings such as Vixaatus and Varelos von Dalverat, and while the entirely of the world has come to hate the Harbinger, few have the guts to confront him up-front, especially when he is using the full extent of his terrifying might.

Sovereign

Kneel before the Abyss.

  • Name - Princeps
  • Affiliation - Lympharian Collective
  • Status - Imprisoned

Princeps, the Sovereign is the second of the Crystal Manifests and among the oldest Lympharians in modernity. His original race has long been forgotten, but cultists speculate he was either a Kormacvarah or a Sand Drake before being converted by Praenuntius into one of the most powerful Lympharians in Koldenwelt. Princeps was notable by his thirst for destruction, and he launched great campaigns against the enemies of the Void during ancient times which caused great damage to civilizations such as the Sea Giants, though he is most noted for his cruel campaign against the Lagosi race in modernity. Princeps declared war on Min Lagosi and attacked the Kame Isles, nearly causing the complete destruction of the isles before he was somehow imprisoned, but not before cursing Min Lagosi's lands with a perpetual winter. Even today, Princeps' presence still exists in the Kame Isles in the form of the mysterious Crystalbane.

Princeps was notable for his bloodthirsty attitude, uncommon among the emotionless and machine-like Lympharians, and he displayed great pleasure in the deaths of Koldenwelt's inhabitants. Legends claim he enjoyed devouring the souls of every Lagosi killed in the great war and later used the to haunt the dreams of the isles' survivors. Princeps is second only to Praenuntius in power in the Collective and can clearly cause wide-scale damage to entire empires by himself, as noted by the perpetual winter he caused on the Kame Isles. The massacre he caused on the Lagosi has made them refer to him only with names such as Akumaihynaar, for saying the Sovereign's true name has become akin to a taboo.

LympharianDestroyer

Guilty of life.

  • Name - Confectrix
  • Affiliation - Lympharian Collective
  • Status - Unknown

Confectrix, the Destroyer is the most mysterious of the ancient Crystal Manifests. Among the most ancient of his kind, possibly older than Princeps, Confectrix is speculated by cultists of the Simulacra to have been created from a pair of Light Drakes who had their Lympharian bodies mashed together during their conversion. The twin-headed Lympharian gained fame in ancient times for having built the Crystal Network which would later serve as the capital of the creatures in Koldenwelt, and for leading campaigns against the world which caused catastrophic damage to the world and the deaths of billions. Legends claim that Confectrix had an intense duel with the Revenant Demigod Sepulchrus Domini which resulted in the latter's defeat, causing Sepulchrus to let out a deadly screech which killed all life in several kilometers away from the battlefield they fought in, and aftewards, the Revenant grabbed Confectrix by his two necks and dragged the Destroyer to the Underworld with him.

Whether Confectrix was truly destroyed is unknown, for the current generation of cultists who worship Vargash is not aware of his whereabouts, and the Collective seeks to bring the Destroyer back so that he may join the Harbinger in destroying the world once again. Legends claim Confectrix acted as a judge to those who followed Vargash's commands, with one head judging individuals innocent and the other judging them guilty, though both were noted for being equally prone to slaughter. Confectrix's waraxe-staff, carved into where his right hand should be, is said in legends to have been able of rending entire mountain ranges and send even the mightiest beings into a state of complete despair.

Notes

Quotes

They are not merely prey; they are predators. They reside above us mortals and choose to devour our kind whenever such seems right for them, thus we are not their enemies as they are ours but rather we are merely food to them. Man, elf, beast, they care little for such boundaries as, to their utterly merciless perception, we are all the same.

- Khadya

I remember fighting them at home, witnessing the full extent of their murderous tendency being acted upon my friends and family until none were left. I resigned from my political ties and left the Isles to get away from it all... I couldn't sleep for weeks knowing that they thrived in the mainland too.

- Kanna

One by one we are marching, ascending in legions of stone.

- Enslaver

I have seen many things in my life, yet out of all these, a Lympharian attack might as well be among the most terrible. These... stone creatures are not even living things. They are a force of nature. Without rage or hate or any emotion, they march like a tidal wave - destruction and desolation given form and purpose, bane of everything one loves and holds dear. The only way to endure their assault is to become like them: like stone, cold and unfeeling, heartless and without mercy.

The Hewn Ones... I have never managed to see one with my own eyes. And I am grateful. What I have read was more than enough for me. How must it be, I wonder, to have your soul trapped within a prisonof foul crystal, to see your body warped and twisted into something inhuman and destructive? I shudder at the very thought of such a fate.

- Valdemar Mistwoood

Easily among the most nightmarishly ghastly beings that have ever inhabited our world... save for clan Nimh, of course. Fortunately, their crystalline structure makes them easy prey to the acidic properties of alkahest...
