Valuable members of the Republic. We owe much to their resolve and determination.

- Apollo

The Mon Nahdar are an amphibious species native to the oceanic world of Nahdar in the Coru Secundus region of the Cyrannus Galaxy, which they share with the more militaristic Hipaca. An intelligent and creative speices, the Mon Nahdar are among the most esteemed members of galactic society, with many renowned inventors, artists and leaders emerging from their kind. Well regarded for their cultural and artistic contributions to society, the Mon Nahdar have earned a reputation as the most enthuasiastic supporters of democratic galactic governance, loyally supporting the United Republic of Cyrannus and the New Cyrannian Republic, while firmly opposing the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus.

Achieving spacefaring capabilities in 2084 BNE, the Mon Nahdar and the Hipaca, who share their homeworld, established an interstellar federation of worlds which joined the Federation of United Worlds in 1866 BNE, beginning an era of prosperity for the Mon Nahdar which led to the establishment of the Delfoí Republic in 04 BNE, alongside the D'annaoí and Adelphi colonists. The formation of the Empire at the conclusion of the Great Cyrannus War spurred the Mon Nahdar to rebellion, and most would transfer their allegiance to the New Cyrannian Republic upon its establishment in 03 NE.

An aquatic species comfortable on land and in water, the Mon Nahdar are characterised by their dome-like heads, their large, tranquil dark eyes and their webbed hands. Among the most cosmopolitan speices in Cyrannus, Mon Nahdar can be found on all levels of galactic society, rivaling the numbers of Libertus and Ortella in many sectors.

History[]

The emergence of the Mon Nahdar civilization from the warm tropical seas of their homeworld occurred over millions of years. As they progressed into organised societal structures, constructing cities and establishing states, the earliest Mon Nahdar societies encountered a formidable adversary in the form of the aggressive and sentient Hipaca species, indigenous to the oceanic depths. Despite the inherently bellicose nature of the Hipaca and their numerical superiority, the Mon Nahdar distinguished themselves through their technological advancements, ultimately prevailing in conflicts with their adversaries. Subsequently, a period of tentative peace ensued, punctuated by intermittent hostilities and transient periods of peace.

This period of interaction culminated in the establishment of an independent council, facilitating diplomatic exchanges and collaboration between the Mon Nahdar and the Hipaca. It was within this framework that the monumental achievement of hyperspace travel was realised in 2084 BNE, a joint endeavour between the two species, that while slower than the hyperdrive utilised by the Core Worlds, allowed for the establishment of numerous Mon Nahdar colonies. Among these nascent settlements were Neuikan, Pamann, and Soran, representing in the eyes of the Mon Nahdar monarchy a 'reef', protecting their beloved homeworld. Soon after establishing contact in 1866 BNE, the Mon Nahdar joined the Federation of United Worlds, integrating themselves into galactic society, and marking their first significant comittment to maintaining a harmonious galaxy.

Simultaneously, the Mon Nahdar undertook ambitious infrastructural projects over their aquatic homeworld. Vast shipyards emerged high in Nahdar's orbit, which over the course of several centuries, emerged as one of the galaxy's premier shipbuilding facilities, rivalled only by the vast shipyards of Cyroenia, Alberensis or Scorpiae. By 53 BNE, and the establishment of the United Republic of Cyrannus, the Mon Nahdar were considered among the galaxy's most influential species, having spread across known space. In the Senate of the Republic, successive Mon Nahdar senators represented their space in equal standing with the Hipaca, and they would later extend the same willingness to collaborate with other species by pioneering the Delfoí Republic alongside the D'annaoí government and Adelphi refugees from the Quadrant Galaxies. This alliance also led to the creation of Delfoí Shipwrights based on Nahdar, resulting in the development of fleets of joint Adelphi/D'annaoí/Mon Nahdar cruisers, many of which would be used in later years by the New Republic and the Cyrandia Resistance.

Following the establishment of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus in 01 NE and the subsequent disbanding of the Delfoí Republic, the Mon Nahdar King Nabha reacted by retreating into isolation on Nahdar. Recognising the imminent threat posed by the Empire, he ordered a comprehensive militarisation effort, bolstering Nahdar's defences in preparation for a potential conflict against the new government. Their apprehensions materialised when an Imperial fleet, under the command of Grand Mandator Tyranus, descended upon Nahdar. Despite valiant resistance, the overwhelming might of the Empire forced the Mon Nahdar to capitulate. In the aftermath of this devastating defeat, many Mon Nahdar were forced into servitude, while six cities on Nahdar were destroyed over the course of the next three years in devastating Imperial reprisals.

In 03 NE, the New Republic was officially formed, resulting in billions of Mon Nahdar from across the galaxy to seek refuge within the Republic, while agitation in their home system contributed to the Empire ceding control over the Nahdar Sector to the Republic during the New Cyrandia Wars. In the period since, the Mon Nahdar have distinguished themselves as the most loyal supporters of the New Republic, rallying behind it during the dark days of the Second Great Cyrannus War with resolute determination, with thousands of Mon Nahdar vessels following President Apollo's call to arms during the Great Battle of Orbispira in 20 NE, contributing significantly to the final defeat of the Empire.

Following the end of the war, the Mon Nahdar have entered a period of unprecedented prosperity, perhaps most notably embodied by the re-establishment of the Delfoí Republic with the D'annaoí and the Adelphi in 34 NE.
