Cyrannian Radeons are fairly similar to their cousins in Andromeda, being highly humanoid and yet rodent-like in appearance. However, they are slightly taller and larger than other Radeons, being around 2,6 m tall. Still, they are quite small compared to other species of Cyrannus and tend to use gravity platforms and hoverchair in order to compensate for that. In addition to this, their fur tends to be crimson red in color, as opposed to shades of brown and grey common to other Radeons.

Yet another fairly known ability of them is their mastery over Essence. Any Radeon has limited control over it, being able to subconciously sense the emotions and thoughts of others, while those who are more talented in it are able to read others' minds or even control them. We can no longer have faith in the original principles of our civilisation. Masaari is dead. The self-enclosed Theosophian cabal which has for millenia failed to institute any meaningful social change is no longer fit to rule our fractured species. But we still must have faith. There must be unwavering principles on which our society must structure. Otherwise, the only fate that will await us is extinction.

- Agnassana

The Qiranit, known also among non-Radeons as the Cyrandia Radeons, are a Radeon sub-race native to the Cyrandia Cluster, descended from colonists and missionaries that came to the galaxy centuries ago to spread the Church of Spode's religious influence. Separated from the rest of the Radeon people by their red fur, larger stature, and, culturally, by their secular worldview, the Qiranit are, alongside the Wexord, the dominant species in the Miragna Sector of the Cyrannus Galaxy; they also form an ethnic minority in the Divinarium and the Rambo Nation. Though hardly the most prominent people in the Cluster, the Cyrandia Radeons have neverthless garnered significant influence in the politics of the Outer Rim, their species' traditional collectivism and dedication earning great respect under both the Second Republic and the Cyrannian Empire. However, this respect is quite often mixed with fear and disgust: Qiranit atrocities during the Great Cyrannus War and the Dark Times have firmly equated their people's name with tyranny, oppression and bloodshed.

History

Formation

Enlightened Agna

The legendary Divine Agna, one of the first Radeon missionaries in Cyrannus, was said to have brought peace an entire warring world with his words and then converted it all to the worship of Spode. Ironically, he would later become the namesake of both the Qiranit capital world of Miragna and Mandator Agnassana.

The origin of the Qiranit Radeons lies in the original missionary expeditions that occurred closer towards the end of the Church of Spode's golden age, circa 30,000 (human) years ago. At that time, the original galactic government had just recently collapsed, and the newly formed Cyrannian Federation did not extend its power into the outer regions of the galaxy; as such, the Radeon preachers were allowed to spread their faith with relative impunity in the lawlessness of the Outer Rim. Though the Path of Masaari did not overtake traditional Cyrannian religions, such as the worship of the Lords of the Thirteen, the missionaries did neverthless managed to estabilish a foothold in the galaxy, forming a small region of planets where Masaari followers and Radeons were the majority: the Mission Wolrds. Though these planets were not ruled the Clericarch directly but answered instead to local rulers and governments, their cultural, spiritual and economic ties brought them together. Radeons in these worlds would become important government officials, scientists and religious leaders, often helping the development of fledgeling nations in the sectors around them, which became known as the Sacellum.

Thousands of years later, the situation changed. Back in the Intergalactic Rifts, the Divine Throne of Vendespode was claimed by the bloodthirsty Clericarch Jaharan, who wished to recreate the Church of Spode's former glory by uniting all Masaari nations and species under his autocratic rule. This would result in a series of conflicts all over the Gigaquadrant everywhere where worshippers of Spode were found, including Cyrannus, where it would become known as the Ponticopoi Crusade. The ensuing bloodshed was grand in scope, with many Masaari worlds that would refuse to accept Jaharan's rule deemed apostate and subsequently targeted for extermination and glassing. The war was only ultimately ended by events outside of Cyrannus, when Jaharan was ousted on Vendespode by the less extremist among the Theosophians, led by the young revolutionary and reformist Telfar au'Jahali. A peace treaty was agreed on, with the help of both the new Church's higher circles and the Cyrannian Federation, that returned sovereignty to the nations of the Sacellum, but retained the Radeon-majority Mission Worlds under control of the Church, under the name of the Qiran Primacy.

In Cyrannian history, this moment is seen traditionally as the beginnning of the modern Qiranit Radeon identity. Although many Radeons welcomed the formation of a new unified Masaari state under Jaharan, most ultimately believed that their loyalty to Cyrannus and its many peoples was stronger, especially considering the atrocities that their leader committed. It is also from this point that the skepticism in the central Vendespodian government began, as well as their dislike for theocratic rule, which would influence later events in the region.

The Primacy's End

Colloquium Charter

Prince Maetti'vaer of the Most Serene Republic, supported by the Basileus Imperium, forces the Primacy to sign the Colloquium Concessions.

For the following years, the Qiranit Primacy entered a period of lasting peace as a member of both the Cyrannian Federation and the Church of Spode. Under Telfar and his representative in the galaxy, the Qiranit Primate Afshar Messith, economic growth and a significant increase in life quality ensued thanks to the renewed connection to the rich Vendespode, and the devastation caused by the war was soon overcome. At the same time, however, the overall societal stagnation in Masaari worlds that began before Telfar and Jaharan would not stop and even accelerated, leading to discontent among the Primacy's intellegentsia - which in Radeon society have always comrpised a significant amount of the population. This would prompt many Qiranit Radeons, who found their ideas and talents to be insufficiently appreciated, to leave the Primacy for the Core Worlds or the Quadrant Galaxies.

That prosperity would end when the War of Ages began. As the Church's core worlds were located deep in Endless Space and thus outside the reach of Xhodocto Scourge machines, they were among the first to be targeted by the Congregation specifically, and the weakened and disarmed Church was not able to defend itself against such a powerful enemy. Though the Primacy was well protected from the initial Congregation assaults by its distant location, the destruction of the metropole took a heavy blow to its economy. Facing with public dissent, different political factions vying with each other for influence, and more and more Radeons leaving the Sacellum, the elderly Primate made a decision that he thought would save his people, but ultimately doomed them: he ordered to close the borders of the Primacy and instituted martial law.

As the Primate hoped, this decision protected his position and the crumbling Primacy for a little while - by stifling the voices of revolutionary movements, he hoped to win time to somehow find a solution to the crisis. However, closing the Primacy's borders affected more than the the Primacy itself. The nearby Most Serene Republic of Yalisse, allies of the dreaded Basileus, considered the Qiranit Radeons' isolation as a strike against its interests and its traders in the Sacellum. Soon after the isolation decree was made, a large Aquilanius trade flotilla, headed personally by Prince Maetti'vaer and protected by the Basileus Imperium's vessels, entered the Primacy's borders and demanded that it allow them trade concessions and free reign in the region. The Primate, ever stalwart, declined. In response, the Basileus and the Aquilanii invaded the Primacy and, with their combined military might, occupied it.

With the public support of the Primate and the entire Theosophian caste at an all-time low, it was secular political movements that helmed the fight against that military occupation. The most powerful and important of these movements was known as Anasthai, a loose alliance of former Church military and liberal-minded intellectuals, who sought to drive off the invaders and subsequently replace the Primacy with a secular democratic government similar to that of the Core Worlds. Led by Agnassana Shoa'thaina, pupil of the legendary strategist and tactician Mieo Venoriel, the Anasthai rallied the public against the occupiers, began a campaign of assymetric warfare against the Basileus-Aquilanii fleets, and, most importantly, contacted the United Republic of Cyrannus and asked for its help. Thanks to these three factors, Anasthai was ultimately successful in driving off the invaders, and the Primacy was reformed into the Miragnan Republic (named so after its new capital world), a member state of the Republic ruled by Agnassana herself.

The Miragnan Republic

WexordDying

A Radeon Commissar eliminating Wexords.

After being elected into the office, Agnassana, now known as the Daevlomi, or Mother of the Nation, immediately took to radical reformations, having in their mind a vision vast in scope: to modernise the entire Radeon society down from its very foundations. Having learned the value of republican rule and secularism in the universities of Orbispira and the importance of ideology, propaganda and the rule of law as a Church officer, the Miragnan Republic under Agnassana became a strange fusion of these two seemingly incompatible cultures. Though the rule of the Theosophians were no more, freedom of religion was declared and the old caste system was abolished in favour of the traditional Cyrannian egalitarianism, the zealous belief in order and strong rule that so characterised the old Church was not gone. In fact, now that authoritarian rule was justified not by the decree of a distant god but by the more tangible "will of the nation" and the "five principles of modernisation", the notion that dictatorship is the only path to prosperity only gained more power. The more democratic of Miragna's intellectuals who came to criticise it, wishing for a society more closely resembling the Core Worlds, were quickly silenced by the Daevlomi's newly founded Protectorate.

Though many in the Republic criticised the attacks on protesters and mass surveillance, especially on Capricaerón, its highest circles mostly kept a blind eye to Agnassana's brutal reign, seeing as the amount of raw resources gained from the wealthy Mission Worlds, not to mention the political influence Orbispira gained in the lawless Outer Rim through Miragna, as worth the blood shed. Meanwhile, the Miragnan Republic itself continued to grow, expanding further into the Sacellum and absorbing the neighbouring species into its fold for the purpose of "restoring the original national Radeon cultural sphere". Most of these annexations faced little to no military resistance, and in many cases were entirely peaceful, as Sacellum species had been, in general, influenced by Radeon culture and the sense of kinship among them still remained. Thus, despite the growing authoritarianism, Agnassana's popularity continued to grow, as did her influence in the Senate.

There was one species, however, that resisted Miragnan expansion strongly: the Wexord, a race of pacifistic insectoid creatures to the west from the Mission Worlds. One of the few Sacellum cultures that had already been advanced and developed when the Radeons first arrived, the Wexord were masters of wormhole technology; the pinnacle of this technology was their capital of Lu Sarteck, a highly advanced space station that allegedly allowed them to travel to any place in Cyrannus. Eager to possess the station as well as the riches of the Wexord worlds, Agnassana was ready to take Lu Sarteck for the Republic, but lacked both a casus belli and the public support to do so. As Masaari influence was never strong in Wexord space, the relationships between the two peoples were too cold for peaceful annexation, and Agnassana could not risk an all-out war, afraid of being branded an aggressor and losing Republic support. Thus, she decided to bide time, waiting for the opportune moment to claim Lu Sarteck.

Great Cyrannus War

PureProblems

Wexord becoming victims to the terrible Purity Dvotties.

Such an opportunity finally presented itself at 03 BNE, when the terrible Great Cyrannus War unfurtled and the United Republic of Cyrannus and the Confederacy of Allied Systems turned upon one another. As the Confederacy's influence in the Outer Rim grew, Agnassana suggested to the Senate that the Lu Sarteck Station, as a highly important war asset and (allegedly - the reasoning was that the Wexord were supposedly too primitive to construct it themselves) an Oikoumene relic could not be allowed to fall to Confederate hands, and the Republic would thus have to make the first move. As Miragna, and the entire Sacellum for that matter, was an important strategic position in Republic campaigns against the Confederacy, Agnassana's plan was met with approval on Orbispira, and with the President's approval, a significant portion of the Navy was dispatched to claim Lu Sarteck. Within but a month, more than a half of Wexord territory was occupied and millions of civilians either killed or sent to Miragna to serve as cheap labour. Lu Sarteck itself was ripe was for the taking.

Eventually, however, the Wexord were able to retaliate: their government agreed to join the Confederacy, allowing it to study its advanced wormhole technology in exchange for military protection. Using Lu Sarteck as staging ground, the Wexord fleet, now bolstered by Mortalitas technology, launched several daring strikes deeper into Radeon territory, eventually almost reaching Miragna itself. To say that the Miragnan government was embarrassed by this incident would be a great understatement. Not only had Agnassana by her actions caused the very event she wasallegedly trying to prevent - Lu Sarteck falling to the Confederacy - but she had also lost no less than a third of her entire military force in the following counterattacks. Understanding that the time for legitimate warfare had passed, she turned to more subversive tactics: biological warfare.

Under Agnassana's orders, the Miragnan Republic secretly procured samples of infected tissue from the Trucinex War Purity outbreak, the same one that nearly destroyed the entire Trucinex species. The Miragnans, unaware of the virus' true origins, planned to use the tissue to recreate the deadly virus, but in a more stable and less infectious form, viable for use as a weapon. Though, owing to Radeon scientific genius, the Virus was soon produced and was used successfully against the Wexord, devastating planet after planet with amazing rapidity, the situation soon spiralled out of control. As it would be expected (from those aware of the Xeranbha, at least), the Radeon Purity Virus went rampant soon after gaining enough infectees, and evolved in a more deadly form, spreading to Radeon territory; what seemed to be an hour of triumph quickly became a nightmare. The bloody melee à trois between the Republic, the Confederacy and the Xeranbha was resolved only after the monumental Battle for Lu Sarteck, when both the Radeons and the Wexord had to bombard the station with neutron missiles in order to prevent the Purity from spreading through its wormhole generators

Dark Times & New Cyrandia Wars

Wexord Slavery

Wexord prisoners, suspected as Confederate supporters, sent to prison camps.

The conflict between the Wexord and Miragna was ended abruptly by the end of the Great War and the formation of Tyrómairon's Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, which put the two warring species under the same banner and grouped them into the same sector. Most Cyrannian Radeons were more than content with the new change in government, having no more need to maintain even the sham of republican rule, and now able to make use of Wexord worlds and their resources. That included Lu Sarteck, which was slowly rebuilt over the course of two years by Imperial engineers (who apparently neither proved nor disproved the theory of Oikoumene origins of the station) and transformed into a military stronghold used by the Empire to monitor the galaxy. Notably, unlike most Republican senators, who were largely stripped of their powers in favour of new Imperial institutions, Agnassana was instead promoted to the rank of Mandator and given full rule over the sector. At the same time, many Qiranit joined the newly founded Imperial Intelligence where Radeon skills became extremely useful.

The influence of Miragna and the Sacelllum Sector also rose in interstellar politics, where Agnassana was one of the key opposing figures to the increasing role of the Basileus (whom Agnassana despised) in the governance of the Outer Rim. Together with a few other Mandators, Agnassana was part of what was called the White Bloc, an unofficial alliance of Imperialsectors bound by the shared dislike of Imperator Tyranus, his policies, and his people. Though having no actual political power, they (at times) successfully hampered whatever decisions the Imperator proposed by unanimously voicing their opposition right until 02 NE, when one of their more clandestine operations - which involved assassinating one of Tyranus' supporters to replace him with a more Basileus-sceptical politician - was succesfully exposed and thwarted. Soon afterwards, Miragna was bombed, Agnassana was stripped of her title (allegedly sent to the death - though the truth is somewhat more interesting), and Mandatorship of the Sacellym given first temporarily to Commissar Aerlon and then to a Wexordian politician.

As a result of the scandal, the Qiranit Radeons' influence waned greatly in the following years, and it was for this reason that the Sacellum did not participate much in the following New Cyrandia Wars - though naturally, given their hatred of the Basileus, Qiranit eagerly supported the Empire throughout the conflict and demonstrations against the Basileus-dominated Cyrannian Imperial State happened almost daily on Miragna. Now after the conflict is over, the Qiranit Radeons seem to gain prominence once again.

Biology and Appearance

The Qiranit Radeons are fairly similar to their cousins in Andromeda, with the only noticeable difference being their crimson coat (apparently a reaction to Cyrannian crops causing their fur to become brighter). In addition to this, they are also slightly taller and larger than other Radeons, being around 2.6 meter tall on average; still, they are quite small compared to other Cyrannian races, and because of that tend to use gravity platforms and hoverchairs in order to compensate. Amongst other, less noticeable differences are longer skull shape, smaller eye ridges, and longer ears.

While inferior in terms of strength and endurance to the majority of Cyrannian species, the Qiranit Radeons have their own physical advantages. As with all Radeons, the Qiranit are highly agile, flexible and possess strong reflexes; due to this, Cyrannian Radeons are often seen as spies and infiltrators within the Empire. Yet another fairly known Radeon ability that the Qiranit possess is Essence mastery. All Radeons have limited control over it, being able to subconciously sense the emotions and thoughts of others, while those who are more talented in it are able to read others' minds or even control them. These psychics are often trained in the military academies of the Empire to become agents of the Imperial Intelligence, known as survelliants. These survelliants are known for bringing utmost horror into those who dare to rebel against the Empire, as they are able to sense any rebellious thought and destroy potential dissidents even before they would reveal themselves.

A day in a correction camp. Lovely, isn't it?

Cyrannian Radeons, much like all their cousins, are collectivistic and social-minded, with little care about welfare of an individual. They have formed a strict, lawful but totalitarian society among themselves, based upon utmost loyalty to the state and the leader. Any signs of showing too much individuality are persecuted greatly, and those who defy the will of their superiors are likely not to be executed but rather to be sent in correction camps to endure a lasting torture to the point the victim would become a broken slave asking for death.

Despite this however, life in the Cyrannian Radeon society can actually be quite good for those who are loyal to the Empire, with quality of life actually being quite good and art and culture that is permitted being quite common. Machines do most of the manual labour, leaving intellectual work to Radeons primarily. Their society is also quite egalitarian, having little discrimination towards the species, gender, race or anything else but loyalty to the Empire.

Notable Individuals

AgnassanaGEC

Agnassana Neroth'aina is the Mandator of Galactic Empire of Cyrannus and the leader of Cyrannian Radeons. She is a ruthless, power-hungry woman who is ready to commit horrible atrocities to further her goals.

Charming and cunning, she can easily sway others to her side, her main weapons being her charisma and iron will. She used that talent to reign supreme in her species and become an Imperial Mandator. While she may claim that she serves some goal - be it the glory of GEC or the restoration of the might of Radeon species, in reality her ultimate loyalty is only to herself - and she does not hesitate to kill even her own subjects to increase her power. So far, she only serves the Emperor out of fear of his might.

Commissar Aerlon

Aerlon Cyredrae is a leading captain of the Cyrannian Radeons and an important commander of the Imperial Navy altogther. Mandator Agnassana trained him personally for years, making Aerlon an extension of her will, a sword in her hand that punishes those who opposed. Being known for his fanaticism and fierce temper even before as an URC captain, Aerlon quickly became a respectable Imperial commander upon Tyrómairon's rise to power.

Now, during the Dark Times, Aerlon is rooting out Wexord rebels in the Anastasis sector. However, Agnassana also prepares for something greater for him.

Military

Starships

Devilfish-class
Devilfish-class is a common spaceship made by Cyrannian Radeons, based on Church of Spode (and later the Divinarium's), Deathwing-class but larger, almost 250m long. Another difference is its large wings hiding energy systems for large turbolasers used by it, vastly increasing its weapon potential. It was first originated during the foundation of the Republic of Miragna when Agnassana commanded her subservient engineers to design new spaceship designs to represent the national glory of Radeons, and it proved to be quite powerful during the Great Cyrannus War. Now, Devilfish-class are continued to be used in the Radeon part of Imperial Navy, primarily operating within Anastasis sector.

Punishment-class

Punishment-class is a small spaceship made by Cyrannian Radeons that eventually became their symbol known across Cyrannus and beyond, developed during the Great Cyrennus War. It is a miniscule but swift vessel around 100 m tall, able to perform long and efficient hyperspace jumps and being quite maneuvrable in space as well. Equipped with powerful cloaking devices, it often serves as a scout, observing positions of enemy forces while unseen. Despite its size, Punishment-class has powerful weapons that, however, require a long time to recharge. Due to this, this spaceship is used for precise, quick and deadly strikes, eliminating the resistance of anti-Imperial planets when their inhabitants do not even realise what spaceship has destroyed their forces.

Celestial-class

Celestial-class Star Destroyer is the most recent addition to Cyrannian Radeon fleet, made shortly after Declaration of Empire in an attempt to emulate the mighty Star Destroyers of more powerful species of Cyrannus. 1,400 m long, Celestial-class is primarily a weapon of planetary warfare. Armed with large amount of missiles, bombs and planetary lasers, Celestial-class can easily devastate a planet, leaving little to no resistance left. It can also serve as a way to bring more Punishment-class or Devilfish-class spaceships into the fray. So far, there are little Celestial-class spaceships in the Empire, as its production has only begun.
