You don't survive in the Rim by being an idiot.

- Corva

The Outer Rim is the largest of the explored regions of the Cyrannus Galaxy, as well as the most diverse in terms of both population and culture. The Outer Rim has historically been the territory in which Core government and influence has been the lightest, and as a result, the region has a reputation for being a haven for those seeking a new start, be they political dissidents, criminals or religious pilgrims. As such a vast region, the worlds of the Outer Rim are immensely varied, containing urban megalopolis worlds such as Tar Kuuraen, imperial bastions like Vasuband and temperate gardenworlds such as Nex, as well as countless barely inhabited worlds baring ancient secrets, such as Nandóband and Phaedron.

Exploration of the Rim occurred at a far slower rate than that of the interior regions, taking place in fits and starts throughout galactic history. During the era of the First Republic, explorers from the Core Worlds blazed the hyperlanes which now intersect the Outer Rim, beginning most crucially with the northern lane of the Perliama Run in the 15,000s BNE, leading to the colonisation of worlds such as Cadian, Melanion and Imperaveilli. Nevertheless, though the First Republic established the colony of Novus Pyrían to serve as a beacon of Core influence, the ravages of the Second Nagith War brought an end to this effort to civilise the region. As such, the Outer Rim fell into lawlessness and chaos for centuries, during which imperialistic powers such as the Basileus Imperium and the Great Corthrinusi Empire conquered entire sectors indiscriminately.

The rise of the United Republic of Cyrannus brought about a new era of both opportunity and conflict for the Outer Rim, which had become a hotbed of colonisation during the era of the Federation of United Worlds. While the Republic retained influence along the coreward hyperlanes, the region became embroiled in conflicts ranging from the Trucinex War and the Intergalactic War, laying the seeds for dissatisfaction and ultimately the rise of the Confederacy of Allied Systems in 05 BNE. The subsequent Great Cyrannus War was raged across the Outer Rim, bringing to bear the full weight of two galactic armadas battling throughout the rim. The rise of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus at the conclusion of the conflict brought about a new era of order, though simultaneously the Empire's violent prosecution of its own citizens in the frontier systems led to the rise of rebellions and support for the New Republic. These developments would in turn through ownership of the Rim into disarray, dividing entire sectors between Republic and Imperial control.

As the most expansive region of the known galaxy, the Outer Rim contains a plethora of diverse species which have made their mark on the history of Cyrannus. The most influential has arguably been the Basileus of Vasuband, who forged their Imperium into the most powerful of the Rim's native factions. Other notable species include the humanoid Alavar, the moralistic Trucinex as well as other Capricyránae species such as the Mataii of Tega, the Corthrinus, the Arctunvahrex and the Fernei-Tuu.

History[]

ThirteenthTemoinWar

The Tribe crushes the Temoin's once great empire.

The ancient history of the Outer Rim is shrouded in mystery, though like all of Cyrannus it was once part of the mighty Oikoumene empire, which ruled benevolently and with the best intentions of different species in mind. When the Oikoumene mysteriously vanished into higher planes of existence, they left many constructs and artifacts in the vast expanse that makes up the Outer Rim. The next great civilisation was the Temoin Empire, a vast authoritarian civilisation that brutally suppressed all other lifeforms. Though it remains unknown, scientists believe that the Temoin originated in a system in the Outer Rim that has since been absorbed by a black hole.

When the Temoin's influence grew too great, the unseen hand of the ancient Oikoumene tribe crushed their empire with one fell swoop. Left to evolve without the influence of the Temoin, other races expanded and grew in the Rim, amongst them the sophisticated and wily Basileus, peace-loving Alavar and the communal-minded Aontas. Meanwhile, the great Nagith Empire and the even more deadly Phaedric Empire rose from the Outer Rim, though their campaigns of conquest were ultimately halted by the First Republic from the Core Worlds. This resulted in races from the Core expanding into the Outer Rim, particularly the Libertus.

Second Battle of Nosiso 03

The second battle of Nosiso.

With the rise of the United Republic of Cyrannus and the Confederacy of Allied Systems and the outbreak of the Great Cyrannus War, the Outer Rim saw much of the fighting during the three-year conflict, with great battles being fought on worlds such as Nosiso and Carindes. As the centre of Confederate activity during the war, the Outer Rim's most influential races such as the Basileus joined, before leaving to create their own superpower near the end of the conflict. Meanwhile, lawlessness and crime continued to the rife around the endless tracks of space in the Rim, with most viewing both the Confederacy and the Republic with disdain for causing such disruption in their sphere of influence. Nevertheless, with the superpowers fighting a war, organisations such as the Panthrea Slaver Guild and the Cyrannian Syndicate spread.

Flovos Escape

The Empire took a tough stance on Outer Rim lawlessness.

When the war ended with the absorption of the Confederacy and the Republic into a Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, reaction in the Rim was initially mixed. Some viewed the creation of such a powerful protector of order as the most positive development in Cyrannus for many years while others feared what they saw as a tyrannical regime bent on intergalactic domination. Both viewpoints would see much evidence to support their way of thinking, with the early years of the Empire bringing peace and prosperity to the core-ward regions of the Rim. However, away from the eyes of the Core, the Empire also began using worlds in the Rim as target practice for their devastating new weapons and experimental new technology.

Though much of the Outer Rim became peaceful, flashpoints arose at many times during the early years of the Empire such as the small but bloody Outer Rim War against the Confederacy and isolated incidents such as the Viralnex takeover of the Trucinex homeworld of Nex. The greatest challenge posed to face the Empire came from within when the Basileus and some other nationalistic species broke away from the Empire and created the Cyrannian Imperial State, an event that sparked the New Cyrandia Wars.

The Cyrandia Resistance's primary base on Andustar.

  • Affiliation: Resistance
  • Sector: Andustar Sector
  • Terrain: Alpine mountains, ice plains, pine forests
  • Population: 2.1 million
  • Sentient Species: Andustaran (89%), Other (11%)
  • Government: Tribal
  • Major Exports: None
  • Major Imports: None

Andustar is a frigid planet located in the extreme galactic north of Cyrannus, beyond the borders of the Empire. Although the planet is marginally inhabited by a race known as the Andustarans, it is likely that the hardy race originated on a nearby planet and were transported to the planet through some unknown means. Although the entire planet is currently in the midst of a millennia-long ice age, the northern hemisphere is considerably colder than the more alpine southern continent, which is covered in large mountain ranges and the majority of the planet's animal species.

Andustar first came to galactic attention during the Cyrannian Cold War, when the crew of the Auethnen Raptor discovered the young Ortella Aoirtae Valaeris during a New Republic mission to establish a listening post on the planet. Several years later, in the midst of the Second Great Cyrannus War, the planet was selected by General Sesoka of the Cyrandia Resistance as the site of the rebel force's first and only major base of operations. On Andustar, the Resistance conducted numerous campaigns in the northern sectors of the Outer Rim, prompting the Empire to begin an intensive search to locate the rebel base.

Antemurale[]

  • Affiliation: Empire
  • Sector: Antemurale Sector
  • Terrain: Rainforests, mountains
  • Population: 103 billion
  • Sentient Species: Libertus (43%), Basileus (31%), Other (26%)
  • Government: Dictatorship
  • Major Exports: Military technology
  • Major Imports: Raw material

Antemurale is a perpetually stormy planet in the Outer Rim famous for being the headquarters of the Imperial Military. Colonised millennia ago by the Rades of Andromeda in order to show their teachers how far they had come, Antemurale was terraformed from the once lifeless world into a lush rainforest world. The Rades defended the planet against invasion by installing a sophisticated techno-organic defence system, led by the AI called Netzach. This system connects the entirety of the planet's ecosystem, meaning that even wildlife and plantlife would fight to protect Antemurale if it was ever invaded. However, events in their home galaxy forced the Rades to abandon their fortress world, which soon became embroiled in constant storm. Nevertheless, the planet became home to a race of crimson skinned reptilian humanoids known as the Phaedra, who launched many assaults on the First Republic deep in prehistory, only to fade into obscurity.

However, the strategic location of Antemurale as well as its abundance in Rade technology made the planet a key target for many colonising powers. However, all would fail until the rise of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, which conquered the planet using the Oikoumene influences present in Imperial technology. Antemurale's location in the Outer Rim prompted the Imperials to establish the headquarters of the Imperial Military in the Imperial City on Antemurale, with its central tower known as the "Bastion" making use of hyperspace wormholes to instantly connect Antemurale to the capital world Orbispira. Despite the strong Imperial presence, Antemurale holds many secrets lurking in its dense jungles.

Carindes[]

  • Sentient Species: Libertus (46%), Mataii (14%), Condian (10%), Other (30%)
  • Government: Imperial administration
  • Major Exports: Culture
  • Major Imports: Raw materials

Carindes is a planet located in the Outer Rim of the Cyrannus Galaxy. Renowned for its raw, untouched beauty, Carindes is famous for its role in modern galactic history, as the birthplace of the League of Self-Determination, and subsequently, the capital of the Confederacy of Allied Systems during the First Great War.

Established in 984 BNE in a joint colonisation venture between primarily-Libertus explorers from Coraxaas and the Mataii of Tega, Carindes quickly grew into one of the jewels of the Outer Rim, the heart of a wave of expansion which soon gave rise to many prosperous worlds in the newly mapped Carindes and Arathamaii Sectors. While these sectors would prosper as outlying regions of the Federation of United Worlds, and later, the United Republic, it would become a hotbed of dissent in the years after the Intergalactic War. Joining with Wulff Dastirius' movement, Carindes became the capital of the Confederacy of Allied Systems. During the third year of the First Great War, Carindes came under a devastating attack by the Cyrannian Neraida, who ravaged large portions of the planet before being driven off. A few weeks later, the newly established Empire conquered the planet, signalling the death of the Confederacy.

In the post-war era, the Empire invested considerable resources in repairing Carindes' shattered ecosystem, and though the Confederacy of Free Planets briefly held the system in 03 NE, it has remained a powerful bastion of Imperial power, and a bulwark against the new Confederacy's expansions from Nosiso and Nengeredis. Nevertheless, the people of Carindes remain largely loyal to Chancellor Taros Cassynder, and long for his return.

Cortellier[]

  • Affiliation: Empire
  • Sector: Cortellier
  • Terrain: Cityscape
  • Population: 1 billion
  • Sentient Species: Other (49%), Ortella (32%), Libertus (29%)
  • Government: Imperial administration
  • Major Exports: Starships, military technology
  • Major Imports: Raw materials

Cortellier is a urbanised planet located in the sector of the same name in the north west of the Outer Rim. Colonised in the early 70 BNEs as a joint venture between the recently space-faring Ortella and the Federation of United Worlds, Cortellier developed into one of the most prosperous planets in the Outer Rim. However, as the planet grew in prosperity, so too did it grow unstable, with conflict arising between the primarily Ortella-bloc, which advocated for membership in the United Republic of Cyrannus, and a more extreme bloc advocating for the planet's independence.

Soon after the establishment of the Empire, the planet's leader, Governor Rax, was ousted in a coup and was forced to flee to the nearby planet of Charcati, home to an Imperial military administration. Promising the Empire full access to Cortellier's resources, Rax, now appointed the Mandator of the Cortellier Sector, returned at the head of an Imperial fleet and ousted his foes. In the aftermath, vast Imperial shipyards were constructed over the planet, while the advanced research and development group Cortellier-Ordvester Engineering established a headquarters in the planet's capital city, leading to the development of the Judicator-class Star Battlecruiser and numerous other advanced Imperial projects.

Cortellier grew into a loyal Imperial world, with Governor Rax perpetuating the notion that the Empire saved the planet from itself during a period of chaos. As such, Imperial parades are common on the planet, while news reporting on the atrocities committed by the New Republic can be seen on every viewscreen on the planet's surface.

Laurantia[]

Laurantia

  • Affiliation: Empire
  • Sector: Laurantia Sector
  • Terrain: Forests, plains, oceans, cityscape
  • Population: 1.3 million
  • Sentient Species: Libertus (87%), Other (13%)
  • Government: Imperial administration
  • Major Exports: Culture
  • Major Imports: Raw materials

Located on the fringes of the Unknown Regions, Laurantia is, uncharacteristic from a typical world in the Outer Rim, relatively idyllic. Indeed, though it was long regarded as the capital of the sector of the same name, it was only within the two decades after the establishment of the Empire that its development began in earnest. Colonised by Libertus from Virgon, the planet's alpine hills and dense woodlands soon played host to some of Virgon's most impressive megafauna, including the massive tithanosaurus.

During the Dark Times, the planet played host to an impromptu conference between the Republic Remnant and its few remaining allies, and in the years since, it fell firmly under the sway of the Empire. During the Second Great Cyrannus War, the planet was invaded by the New Republic, which, along with the Aldárae Order, managed to liberate the planet. However, with the fall of the Republic several months later, the Laurantia sector became reoccupied by Imperial forces.

Nex[]

Nex

  • Affiliation: Empire
  • Sector: Nex Sector
  • Terrain: Oceans, small island chains
  • Population: 2.1 billion
  • Sentient Species: Trucinex
  • Government: Imperial administration
  • Major Exports: Culture
  • Major Imports: Raw materials

The cradle world of the infamous Trucinex, Nex is a small oceanic planet located at the heart of the sector of the same name, at the crossroads of the Corai Way and the Tandanoi Hyperlanes. While most of the planet is covered in expansive oceans and seas, numerous heavily forested island chains dot the surface, dominated by large alpine mountains where the Trucinex first emerged. As the capital of the Trucinex Imperium, which spread to cover much of the sector, Nex prospered in relative isolation from the rest of the galaxy, trading only with rare Ermitant traders plying the Corai Way.

However, under the leadership of the self-styled Nex Prophet, the Imperium began numerous religious crusades against species which refused to accept the lordship of the so-called One God. During one such crusade, the Imperium utilised secret hyperlanes supplied by an unknown party to attack the Twelve Worlds of the Libertus, resulting in the devastating Trucinex War. While the war was limited to Cyrannus, the Capricorn Sector Alliance rallied its new extragalactic allies, pushing the Trucinex back and isolating their holdings to Nex itself. In the pivotal Second Battle of Nex, the planet finally fell, and an interim government was established as a client world of the United Republic.

While some Trucinex subsequently joined the Confederacy of Allied Systems, hoping to achieve greater degrees of independence from Republic rule, most followed the leadership of Senator Cavil of Nex, who established himself as an influential loyalist of President Apollo. Following the rise of the Empire in 01 NE, the planet was placed under the rule of Mandator Nenabie, who was killed during the New Cyrandia Wars, when a strain of the Xeranbha's Purity virus was unleashed on the planet. Although millions died on the planet, the outbreak was eventually curbed by the Empire, which placed the planet under martial law.

Nexios[]

  • Terrain: Tropical
  • Population: 2.6 billion
  • Sentient Species: Trucinex (93%), Other (7%)
  • Government: Imperial administration
  • Major Exports: Tourism
  • Major Imports: Raw materials

Nexios is a small planet located in the Nex Sector of the Outer Rim, along the Corai Way equidistant between Nex and Mos'Corvis. Founded as a colony world of the Trucinex Imperium early in its history, the planet grew in wealth and prestige to the point it was once considered a jewel in the crown of the Nex Prophet. The capital city was wealthy, though sparsely populated, with the planet's citizenry often expressing disdain with the Imperium's slide toward fanaticism in the decades prior to the outbreak of the Trucinex War.

During the Trucinex War, the colony came under attack by Rambo Nation, resulting in the system capitulating to the Quadrantians. The Battle of Nexios was one of the hardest fought of the conflict, with the Rambo losing many ground soldiers and ships. While the Trucinex attempted to capture the planet, aid from the Capricorn Sector Alliance and the Delpha Coalition of Planets ensured it remained in allied hands. After the defeat of the Trucinex, the colony was returned to the Nex government, and later joined the United Republic of Cyrannus and its successor, the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus.

Nexios' transition to galactic society was more smooth than most worlds in Trucinex space, with many of the planet's citizens spreading across Cyrannus in the decades following the end of the Trucinex War. One such individual was Nexarón Valkistair, who became the President of the New Cyrannian Republic during the Cyrannian Cold War. As a result, many of the planet's citizens support the Republic over the Empire during the Second Great Cyrannus War.

Nosiso[]

  • Sector: Carindes Sector
  • Terrain: Irradiated desert
  • Population: Uninhabited
  • Sentient Species: Nosisans (formerly)
  • Government: None
  • Major Exports: None
  • Major Imports: None

Nosiso is a large desert planet located in the Outer Rim of the Cyrannus Galaxy, known for its dusty red sand and its extreme temperatures. It served as one of the capitals of the Confederacy of Allied Systems during the Great Cyrannus War and was home to huge factories, which created a large amount of the Confederacy's ground forces. However, after the Second Battle of Nosiso, Nosiso fell under the command of the United Republic of Cyrannus, which later was reformed into the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus.

The native insectoid population was forced into slavery by the Imperial regime, though the planet was liberated in 03 NE by the Confederacy of Free Planets. Nearly two decades later, Nosiso was brutally attacked by the Imperial flagship Sovereign, which annihilated the Confederate fleet stationed in orbit and unleashed its cannons on the planet's surface. The resulting destruction eradicated the planet's population, and left Nosiso as a broken shell.

Rinus[]

  • Affiliation: Empire
  • Sector: Rinus Sector, Corthrinus Space
  • Terrain: Tropical
  • Population: 6.6 billion
  • Sentient Species: Corthrinus (97%), Other (3%)
  • Government: Imperial administration
  • Major Exports: Starships
  • Major Imports: Raw materials

Rinus, located in the sector of the same name, is the homeworld of the Corthrinus race, and has historically been the apex of their interstellar domain, the Great Corthrinusi Empire. A tropical world dominated by rainforests which span pole to pole, the Corthrinus built their cities in harmony with their beloved homeworld, constructing vast floating metropolises which loom over the untouched world below. The Corthrinus themselves achieved spacefaring capabilities after a devastating war of unification in 7,400 BNE, and swiftly began an extensive campaign of colonisation, furthering the wealth and influence of their motherworld.

Throughout the long history of the Corthrinus as a spacefaring race, Rinus itself remained largely untouched by external forces. Even the mighty Neraida were unable to break through the planet's formidable defences during the so-called War of Many Cycles between the cyborgs and the Corthrinus. With the rise of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, however, Imperial decree opened the planet up to the wider galaxy for the first time in its long history, forcing Emperor Savra Mathen to abdicate from his royal stylings in favour of a role as Grand Mandator of the Corthrinus Oversector. This act has largely fed a growing nationalistic sentiment on Rinus, with many of its inhabitants favouring either independence, or membership in the New Republic.

Tar Kuuraen[]

  • Affiliation: Cyrannian Syndicate
  • Sector: Kuuraen Sector
  • Terrain: Cityscape
  • Population: 50 trillion
  • Sentient Species: Libertus (60%), Alavar (24%), Other (16%)
  • Government: Organised crime
  • Major Exports: Entertainment, contraband
  • Major Imports: Drugs

Tar Kuuraen is a large ecumenopolis in the Outer Rim of the Cyrannus Galaxy, known for its decadency, crime rates and dominance by crime-families. Tar Kuuraen was once a desolate world away from the major galactic trade routes, though when the First Republic waged its wars against the Nagith Empire in the ancient past, a Republic colonisation fleet happened upon the world and colonised it. Over the centuries, Tar Kuuraen's surface began increasingly dominated by wide urban sprawl, eventually turning the planet into an ecumenopolis that once rivalled the galactic capital of Orbispira.

However, when the Republic fell, Tar Kuuraen became the home of crime families and became one of the key centres of the Cyrannian Syndicate. Though the planet remained as one of the richest places in the galaxy, it became infamous for the gaps that existed between rich and poor, being home to some of the most affluent individuals living in the city's gleaming spires while the destitute inhabited the world's lower depths. During the Great Cyrannus War, both sides of the conflict attempted to gain the favour of the planet's powerful mob bosses which continued into the reign of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus and the New Cyrannian Republic.

Vasuband[]

VasubandCity

Vasuband, homeworld of Tyermaillin and his people.

  • Affiliation: Empire
  • Sector: Vasuband Sector
  • Terrain: Arid mountains, rainforests
  • Population: 21 billion
  • Sentient Species: Basileus (99%), Other (1%)
  • Government: Dictatorship
  • Major Exports: None
  • Major Imports: Raw materials

Vasuband is a planet in the Outer Rim of the Cyrannus Galaxy. The homeworld of the powerful and advanced Basileus people, Vasuband serves as one of the few centres of civilisation in the relatively lawless expanses of the Outer Rim. Under the xenophobic government of the Basileus Imperium, Vasuband remained off-limits to other species, with the first alien visitors to the planet occurring after the formation of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus.

A mountainous world of lush rainforests, teeming wildlife and towering cities built with beautiful care, Vasuband stands as one of the cultural and political capitals of the entire Cyrannus Galaxy, though the distrust many of its inhabitants feel towards off-worlders hampers the planet's successes on the galactic stage. Notable is the fact that throughout its long history as a world at the heart of a vast Imperium is the fact that Vasuband was attacked only once, by a small Neraida probe. The failure of this threat to cause damage to the planet has given its inhabitants a belief that any attack made against Vasuband is doomed to failure.

Despite this view, the planet fell to the Cyrannian Imperial State under the leadership of Imperator Tyermaillin. Thanks to Tyermaillin's popular support on Vasuband, the planet became the centre of the Imperial State in the ensuing New Cyrandia Wars. However, as the conflict drew on, the reconquest of Vasuband became the key objective by Imperial forces led by Grand Admiral Carandial, who ultimately led a large coalition of fleets from the Empire, the New Cyrannian Republic and Rambo Nation and conquered the planet for the Empire, and with it the Imperial State.

Culture and Society[]

Compared to the cultured and civilised Core Worlds, the Outer Rim possesses limited government control from the galactic capital of Orbispira as well as a comparatively small level of law enforcement, owing to the Rim's reputation as a lawless expanse of space. However, while this stereotype is somewhat justified on planets such as Tar Kuuraen, worlds like Vasuband and Antemurale as as orderly as any in the Core. The Great Cyrannus War provided some justification for the United Republic of Cyrannus to establish central order to the Rim, though these attempts would prove futile until the rise of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus.

Species[]

Alavar[]

CorvaProfile

Like many of her kind, Corva is kind-hearted and eager to help the downtrodden.

  • Homeworld: Iruband
  • Classification: Humanoid
  • Distinctions: Head-tails
  • Spacefaring: 9,930 BNE
  • Notable Individuals: Corva, smuggler

The Alavar are a humanoid species native to Iruband, or Anamalia in their native tongue, in the Kuuraen Sector of the Southern Outer Rim. One of the galaxy's most widespread species, the Alavar are known for their long head-tails and vibrantly coloured skin, and have become almost as common as Libertus or Ortella on the galactic stage. Soon after the species became spacefaring in 9,930 BNE, their homeworld was conquered by the Basileus, who renamed the planet Iruband, and established a brutal regime over the peaceful humanoids.

Their homeworld was liberated by the Neudani Star Kingdoms during the War of Red Wastes against the Basileus Imperium, and under the terms of the Skyridiil Accords, was afforded the status of membership in the Federation of United Worlds. Since that time, the Alavar have spread across the stars, garnering a name for themselves as a tenacious and strong people, known for their pleasing looks and steadfast faith in democracy.

Aontas[]

Aontas Portrait

The Aontas, while fearsome in appearance, are generally a peaceful species.

  • Homeworld: Triolian
  • Classification: Saurian
  • Distinctions: Horns
  • Spacefaring: 2,023 BNE
  • Notable Individuals: Nobli Pardian, Republic Senator

The Aontas are a saurian species closely related to the Apationagtus native to the ecumenopolis of Triolion, deep in the Outer Rim. Upon reaching spacefaring capabilities in 2,023 BNE, the Aontas expanded slowly throughout their native sectors along the galactic rim, coming into contact with other species such as the Basileus and the Medracon of Nocra. Although the Aontas would gain a reputation among these races as enigmatic and haughty, in reality, their people have always been well regarded by those who enter their territory for their sense of collective duty to the state and their people. As a result, the Aontas eradicated poverty early in their history, and have enjoyed true equality throughout their space since time immemorial.

Although the Aontas have tended to remain in their own sector for much of their history, they became an important Republic ally during the Great Cyrannus War, with their leadership distrusting the Confederacy due to the strong influence of galactic corporations on their governance. The government of Triolian would later prove instrumental in forging an alliance with the similarly minded Defensive Systems Bloc of the Milky Way Galaxy, due to the efforts of famed Aontasi diplomat Leopri. In the modern age of the galaxy, Aontas space fell under the command of various Imperial warlords in the period after the Great Battle of Orbispira. In the aftermath of the Second Great Cyrannus War, most are members of the New Empire.

  • Notable Individuals: Evel Thielde

The Arctunvahrex are an influential race of tyrannosaurid saurians native to Vahrexian in the Cyrannian Outer Rim. Distantly related to the fearsome Thanatyrannus, likely due to Oikoumene influence in the distant past, the Arctunvahrex established a broad sphere of influence in the northern sectors of the Reach hyperlane, as it enters the Outer Rim from the Mid Systems. However, they were are a politically divided species for much of their history, with dozens of Arctunvahrexi states scattered across the region, though all fell under the umbrella of either their homeworld of Vahrexian, or the influential world of Vahaevora.

Widespread across Cyrannus, the Arctunvahrex are, in comparison to other species of similar abundance across the galaxy, unified culturally and lingistically, though their home space is relatively fractious, once dominated by feudal monarchies vying for political and economic power. However, all Arctunvahrex kingdoms joined the United Republic of Cyrannus in 44 BNE, upon the signing of the Treaty of Trenabrion. In later decades, Queen Caii IV Valenlong emerged as the unifying monarch of all Arctunvahrex, though membership of the United Republic did little to end the age-old practices of infighting and scheming which had come to dominate the history of Arctunvahrex. Under the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, and in the contemporary age of galactic conflict, Arctunvahrex are found in almost equal numbers in the ranks of both the Republic and the Empire, while others still long for the return of their old ways of disunity.

Aquilanii[]

AquilaniiProfile

Whereas the Basileus are a militant, warlike race, famed for their conquests, the Aquilanii, somewhat cowardly by nature.

  • Homeworld: Yávessë
  • Classification: Saurian
  • Distinctions: Long snout, tall, graceful
  • Spacefaring: Unknown
  • Cultural Characteristics: Cultured · haughty · ruthless

A race of uncertain origins, but believed because of their genetic links to be descendants of ancient Vasubandians transported to other worlds by extraterrestrial visitors, the Aquilanii are the only known Basileus subspecies so far. Though quite different from their ancestors, both physically and mentally, the Aquilanii still share most of their stereotypical traits: speciecism, sophisticated culture, and imperialism. However, the way they approach their conquests is different. Whereas the Basileus are a militant, warlike race, famed for their conquests, the Aquilanii, somewhat cowardly by nature, are known instead as peerless merchants and starfarers. Their Yávessë Star Republic - a protectorate of the Basileus Imperium - was, at its prime, one of the chief trading powers in the Outer Rim, holding countless systems in a stranglehold under their economic monopoly. Though their influence waned significantly during the Dark Times and the New Cyrandia Wars, the Aquilanii remain prominent, both as legal Imperial traders and pirates and smugglers working for Cyrannus's many criminal organisations.

Biologically, the Aquilanii retain most of the features of their parent species. However, due to the relatively small size of their mountainous homeland, Yávessë, they possess the traits of a low gravity-adapted species: they are thinner, taller, with lithe bodies and hollow bones. Because of this, the Aquilanii are in general not as strong as other Capricyránae, which might have affected their diplomatic mentality and culture. The most striking part of their appearance, however, is their silver feathers and wing-arms: the Aquilanii are among the only Capricyránae races capable of flying. Though they actually have a hard time maintaining flight in normal gravity environments, they are nevertheless immensely proud of this fact, and prefer flying over walking unless travelling on foot is absolutely necessary.

Basileus[]

The Basileus are a species of carcharodontosaurids native to the Outer Rim world Vasuband. An advanced and cultured species, the Basileus were responsible for cultivating one of the most powerful civilisations in Cyrannus, rising from the red wastes of the Southern Outer Rim to forge an Imperium rivalled only by the Libertus civilisations of the distant Core.

Characterised by other species as haughty and xenophobic, the Basileus are among the most hated, and feared, races in the galaxy. However, the Basileus themselves, inheritors to countless millennia of culture and sophistication, have much to proud of, and rightly cherish the long and storied history of their Imperium as a conduit for order and stability in an otherwise chaotic galaxy, too often a victim of the whims of less reasoned beings.

Basileus culture values perfection above all, while intelligence, rather than brute strength, is regarded as a Basileus' most prized characteristic. Throughout the history of the Basileus Imperium, it was scholars, and not warriors, who occupied the highest throne of the Crimson Tower in Basilban, forever seeking to understand and control that which is perhaps unknowable, and uncontrollable.

A typical Basileus is quick to point out flaws, either to themselves, or to others, and fundamentally aspires toward the imposition of order and civilised perfection upon the cosmos, as they have on their cradle worlds of Vasuband, Abrion and Syvehil—shining examples of civilisation. However, as is known to all who have provoked the ire of the Basileus, the people of Vasuband can be merciless, ruthless and willing to destroy those who stand in the way of a perpetual Basileus-ruled peace.

Carivarsul[]

CarivarsulProfile

The Carivarsul are generally gregarious, and are thus a welcome sight on the spacelanes.

  • Homeworld: Varsulan
  • Classification: Aquatic Lifeform
  • Distinctions: Cetecean
  • Spacefaring: 3,105 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Peaceful · Gregarious · Inventive

The Carivarsul are a peaceful and spiritual people native to Varsulan in the distant Onderthon sector, where their tropical homeworld often came under near constant attack by the nearby Basileus Imperium. Since spreading across the galaxy, the Carivarsul have garnered a reputation as being gregarious and welcoming, and are thus a welcome sight on the spacelanes.

A cetecean species, the Carivarsul are more at home in aquatic environments, and quickly become uncomfortable on dryer planets than Varsulan. As a result, their highly specialised biology limited their expansion beyond their native system. Upon development of more advanced starships, however, the Carivarsul began travelling the galaxy in greater numbers, settling on aquatic worlds closer to the galactic interior such as Delfói and Nahdar.

Well regarded for their peaceful and serene nature, the Carivarsul have routinely exiled violent individuals from their homeworld, and offered no resistance to the Basileus conquest of their homeworld in 3,090 BNE. As a result, the Carivarsul were a client species of Vasuband for many thousands of years, and were "liberated" only through the advent of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus in 01 BNE. In the aftemrath, while the Carivarsul remained under the heel of the Basileus, individuals had considerably more freedom to explore the galaxy.

Chrimatós[]

ChrimatósProfile

The Chrimatós were the sole leaders of the huge money grabbing organisation known as the Corporate Union.

  • Homeworld: Mandusso
  • Classification: Amphibian
  • Distinctions: Tall stature
  • Spacefaring: 10,920 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Capitalistic · Haughty · Greedy

The Chrimatós are a species of amphibious humanoids native to Mandusso in the Neoarkan Sector of the Outer Rim. Physically weak in comparison to the saurian species of Cyrannus, the power of the Chrimatós was established primarily through economic means, spreading from the Neoarkan Sector under the auspices of the Corporate Union—a highly influential conglomerate which oversaw the blazing of new hyperlanes spinward of the Core, and the establishment of new regions for colonisation by species hailing from the galactic interior.

Under the reign of the United Republic of Cyrannus, the Chrimatós-dominated Neoarkan Sector acted as a proxy for the interests of the Corporate Union in the Republic Senate, which provoked outcry from numerous other member states in Republic space, many of whom claimed that the Union was subverting the hallowed traditions of Cyrannian democracy. Such criticisms intensified exponentially with the outbreak of the Great Cyrannus War, during which the Corporate Union openly played both sides in the conflict.

The glory days of the Chrimatós came to a crashing end upon the conclusion of the conflict in 01 NE, when the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus rose to power. The magistrates of the Corporate Union were publicly executed on Mandusso, while the organisation itself was imperialised by the new government. In the years which followed, the influence of the Chrimatós has waned significantly, and they are rarely seen beyond their cradle worlds in the Neoarkan Sector.

Conda[]

CondanProfile

The Conda are an ancient race in Cyrannus, having being common citizens in major galactic governments for tens of thousands of years.

  • Homeworld: Condooine
  • Classification: Reptoids
  • Distinctions: Elaborate facial features
  • Spacefaring: 59,010 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Cut-throat · Violent · Honourable

The Conda are a reptilian species native to Condooine, in the Condian Sector of the Outer Rim. An ancient race in Cyrannus, the Conda have been common citizens in major galactic governments for tens of thousands of years, first arising to prominence during the early centuries of the First Republic in 59,010 BNE.

An aggressive species with a reputation as being quick to anger, the Conda are known for their cut-throat personalities and their indomitable will to succeed, making them feared, yet respected members of the galactic community. While the Conda were absorbed into the framework of the First Republic and did not establish a lasting interstellar empire of their own, the Candan Sector of the Outer Rim is heavily populated by Conda, spreading from their arid homeworld of Condooine to their more tropical second homeworld of Condia, close to the borders with the Mid Rim.

Their culture is one of honourable violence, and yet their culture embraced the peaceful ways of the Republic, becoming upstanding citizens in spite of their traditionalist practices. However, many Conda are members of the galactic underworld, joining factions such as the Cyrannian Syndicate, with their skills as bounty hunters being renowned among the criminal underworld.

Corthrinus[]

SavraProfile

Savra Mathen, ruler of the Corthrinus for many decades, is emblematic of his species—ruthless, yet honourable.

Main article: Creature:Corthrinus
  • Homeworld: Rinus
  • Classification: Saurian
  • Distinctions: Crests, red skin
  • Spacefaring: 7,400 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Aggressive · Honourable · Expansionist
  • Notable Individuals: Thonaloc, Republic commodore

The Corthrinus are a species of carcharodontosaurid saurian native to the Outer Rim world of Rinus, noted for their mastery over the Great Corthrinusi Empire, one of the major powers of Cyrannus prior to the formation of the Empire. A race bound by strict tenets of honour and nobility, the Corthrinus are also characterised by their nature as conquerors, using their military might to enforce their will on lesser species.

However, despite their history of aggressive expansionism, the Corthrinus are generally well-regarded by the galactic community, and while they retained their independence prior to the rise of the Empire, never once sent fleets against the civilisations of the galactic interior, upholding stability with an almost spiritual fervor.

Commanding an empire on the fringes of the Unknown Regions, the history of the Corthrinus was often shaped by attacks by the vicious Neraida, which hounded their borders for centuries. Similarly, they fought back many a crusade by the Cognatus Alliance, and subsequently allied with the United Republic of Cyrannus against them during the Intergalactic War. Following the conflict, they remained neutral, albeit in favour of the Republic, during the galaxy-spanning Great Cyrannus War, and joined the pangalactic Empire following the war's resolution.

Under the Empire, the Corthrinus have prospered under the leadership of their former Emperor, Savra Mathen, though by the outbreak of the Second Great Cyrannus War, many of Rinusi kin began conspiring toward the overthrow of the Empire and the restoration of their sovereignty.

Dentronian[]

DentronianProfile

Most Dentronians believe might makes right.

  • Homeworld: Vulcarakoa
  • Classification: Saurian
  • Distinctions: Feathered bodies, long tails, four clawed hands
  • Spacefaring: 8,000 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Aggressive · Selfish · Warmongering
  • Notable Individuals: High Lord Terkonus, Emperor of the Vulcarakoa Hierarchy

The Dentronians, sometimes referred to as Outer Libertus (though they dislike being called as such), are a subspecies of the Libertus from the Core Worlds who developed at the hostile and highly volcanic world of Vulcarakoa. With a similar silhouette as their cousins, albeit bulkier and shorter than the Libertus, they are distinct for their vivid red scales and their much more feathered bodies, with a great trail of feathers trailing from their heads all the way to the tip of their tails. Due to inhabiting a hostile environment, the Dentronians evolved with an equally hostile mindset, and have been enemies with the Libertus of the Core Worlds for most of their history.

While the Libertus are known across the Gigaquadrant as paragons of diplomacy, the Dentronians instead believe military might is the most certain way to survival; they believe only by conquering the stars of Cyrannus will they achieve greatness. Due to this, they are sometimes called the 'black sheep' of the First Tribe. Highly envious of the Libertus' influence, the Dentronians have historically opposed them, preferring to side with the likes of the Basileus and Mortalitas rather than accept their governments as dominant; they were among the members of the Confederacy of Allied Systems, and after the formation of the Galactic Empire, they rejected its Libertus-centered government and retreated back to their worlds, eventually pledging allegiance to the Great Star Dominion. While not all Dentronians behave like this - many of their kind are able to create amiable relations with the Libertus -, the race as a whole suffers from some discrimination due to the warmongering actions of their leaders.

Diaita[]

DiaitaProfile

The Diaita are a peculiar race; they are very intelligent and have evolved beyond the need for physical contact.

  • Homeworld: Nyaxx
  • Classification: Arthropoid
  • Distinctions: Tripodal locomotion
  • Spacefaring: 13,500 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Unknowable
  • Notable Individuals: Unknown

The Diaita are a peculiar and highly advanced species of arthropoids native to Nyaxx, a shrouded planet of red forests in the Kuuraen Sector of the Outer Rim. Easily distinguishable by their unique anatomy, the Diaita have a tripodal locomotion, two vestigial arms, a massive head and two bulbous eyes. Possessed of natural psychic power, due to Nyaxx's strength in the Darkness, the Diaita disdain physical contact, and prefer to use telekinesis to achieve even the most mundane of goals.

Feared by neighbouring species, the Diaita religion is based on the worship of death, with ritual sacrifices by both willing and unwilling initiates forming a fundamental aspect of Diaita society. The High Memorialists of Nyaxx, the ruling body of the Diaita, derive their historical legitimacy pontificating to the masses their insights on the cycle of life, death and rebirth, and have retained a steady grip on the species for thousands of years.

Reclusive by nature, the Diaita are rarely glimpsed beyond the Nyaxx system, which is routinely bypassed by traders along the nearby Temomyho Run hyperlane. Indeed, even the mighty Basileus, who dominated much of the southern Outer Rim remained well clear of what they termed the "System 12005 Menace", after a disastrous first contact during which an entire Basileus expeditionary fleet vanished without a trace. In the last century, however, the Diaita briefly came to galactic attention when a sizable population of apostate Diaita were discovered to have travelled beyond Cyrannus to join the Dominion of the Xhodocto. The Diaita of Nyaxx, however, remain largely aloof from events beyond their system, let alone beyond Cyrannus.

Dublician[]

DublicianProfile

The Dublician are a race of calculating, intelligent and warlike beings native to the Outer Rim of Cyrannus.

  • Homeworld: Cliatha
  • Classification: Humanoid
  • Distinctions: Green-skin, black eyes
  • Spacefaring: 15,010 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Calculating · Shrewd · Warlike · Proud
  • Notable Individuals: Captain Delrio, Imperial Navy

The Dublician are a calculating and intelligent species of humanoid native to the jungle planet Cliatha in the sector of the same name in the southern Outer Rim. With a reputation of being proud and warlike, the Dublician are distinguishable from other humanoids in Cyrannus by the green hue to their skin, and their pitch-black eyes, which are often regarded as unnerving by other mammalians.

Achieving spacefaring capabilities in 15,010 BNE, the Dublician established the Cliathan Union, which spread along the spacelanes of the Cliatha sector, colonising fifty two star systems and subjugating at least six other sentient species. Fiercely territorial, the Union maintained zealous control over which ships were permitted to enter their hallowed space for centuries. However, when a Dublician armada attempted to prevent the Basileus Imperium from entering their space, the might of Vasuband swiftly reduced the once proud Cliathan Union to ash, while its people were unceremoniously conquered and forced to exist as a client species of the Crimson Throne.

By the time of the First Great War, populations of Dublician had managed to escape Basileus occupation in sufficient numbers to be counted among the more notable species found in URC space. Official Basileus rule over Cliatha officially ended with the rise of the Empire in 01 NE, but millennia of proxy rulers resulted in the Dublician remaining strictly loyal to their former masters. As such, Cliatha rebelled alongside Vasuband as a member world of the Cyrannian Imperial State during the New Cyrandia Wars, while in the aftermath of the Second Great Cyrannus War, the majority of the Dublician are members of various Imperial Remnants, particularly those led by the Basileus.

Fernei-Tuu[]

FerneiiTuuProfile

The Ferneii-Tuu are well known businessbeings and assassins in the wider galaxy.

Main article: Creature:Fernei-Tuu
  • Homeworld: Chansharl
  • Classification: Saurian
  • Distinctions: Crest, slender frames
  • Spacefaring: 33,209 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Shrewd · Cut Throat · Ruthless
  • Notable Individuals: Flovos Pretio, crime lord

The Fernei-Tuu are a species of shrewd saurians native to the Outer Rim of Chansharl, in the northern sectors of the Outer Rim. Though known for their lithe frames, the Fernei-Tuu are cunning and dexterous, and are well known across Cyrannus as formidable businessbeings and cutthroat assassins.

First contact between the Fernei-Tuu and the wider galaxy occured during the blazing of the northern Perliama Run during the era of the First Republic, resulting in Chansharl's membership in the spawling galactic government based on Orbispira. In subsequent decades, entire populations of Ferneii-Tuu spread across the galaxy, unwilling to be limited by the dictates of the relatively weak planetary government on Chansharl. As such, while the planet itself became a bulwark against threats such as the Nagith Empire and raids by the Panthrea Slaver Guild, the bulk of the species itself, had spread far beyond the northern Outer Rim. Chansharl itself became prosperous as one of the key stops along the Perliama Run, with trade from the outer galaxy enriching the coffers of eager Fernei traders.

While the species itself was too disunited to play a central role in galactic history, individual Fernei have made their mark on Cyrannus more than once. The crime lord Flovos Pretio is perhaps the most infamous of his kind in modern times, renowned for his efforts to restore order to the Syndicate, prior to his fall from power during the New Cyrandia Wars.

Jamarila[]

JamarilaProfile

The Jamarila are a reclusive race which places much of their cultural and technological advances into furthering their knowledge of their local region of space.

  • Homeworld: Sullissia
  • Classification: Avian
  • Distinctions: Small stature
  • Spacefaring: 1,120 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Intelligent · Scientific · Inventive
  • Notable Individuals: Doctor Siloe

The Jamarila are an avian species native to Sullissia, on the distant fringes of the Outer Rim's Ordvestor Sector. Physically short in stature in comparison to many other Cyrannian species, the Jamarila evolved within the dense forests of Sullissia's central landmass, constructing massive arboreal cities within the seemingly endless jungles.

Deeply connected with their homeworld, Jamarila society developed in pursuit of reason and logic, seeking to understand every facet of their beloved cradle world. As a result, they have gained a reputation as being a reclusive species on the galactic stage, rarely influencing galactic political events. During the Dark Times, however, Siloe, a well-respected Jamarila scientists came to galactic notoriety when he accidentally reactivated the dreaded Errrbots through his explorations of Errr's laboratory on Puria, inadvertently starting a new robotic uprising on the planet.

Ultimately, the uprising was suppressed by the Empire, which indoctrinated the Errrbots into its service. In the aftermath, Siloe returned to Sullissia to report on his findings, only to find that his people had rejected him for his potentially cataclysmic mistake.

Katharon[]

CorvexaProfile

Katharon, such as Corvexa, are almost universally loyal to the Republic.

  • Homeworld: Ferthar
  • Classification: Feline humanoid
  • Distinctions: Cat-like
  • Spacefaring: 1,870 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Peaceful · Honourable · Adventurous · Proud
  • Notable Individuals: Corvexa

The Katharon are a feline race native to the Outer Rim world of Ferthar in the system and sector of the same name. A bipedal species with many feline characteristics, the Katharon are believed to be related to Caizini, though lack their cousin's distinctive tails and sport an overall more human-like appearance.

Fiercely loyal to the ideals of the Republic, the Katharon are almost universal in their support for galactic democracy, finding that their ideals of honour, self-respect and a love of the natural world found a warm welcome in the New Republic. Nevertheless, they are no more homogenous than any other species, with some Katharon putting their natural skills at hunting to good use as bounty hunters.

Establishing a prosperous collection of colonies early in their history, the Katharon forged a constructive trading relationship with the Arctunvahrex of nearby Vahrexian soon after their became spacefaring in 1,870 BNE. The two species worked closely with the Federation of United Worlds to map the Outer Rim's natural hyperlanes, and were among the first species in the Outer Rim to make efforts to integrate themselves with the species and cultures of the galactic interior.

Lauronian[]

LauronianProfile

An isolationist species on the far fringes of the Rim, the Lauronian joined the Delpha Coalition of Planets when threatened with extinction by the Neraida.

  • Homeworld: Varonav
  • Classification: Reptilian
  • Distinctions: Hulking, reptilian
  • Spacefaring: 418 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Warlike · Proud · Honourable

The Lauronian are a reptilian species native to Varonav, native to the Delpha Coalition of Planets Colonial Sector in the Outer Rim. Among the largest sentient species in Cyrannus, the average Lauronian stands 5.5 metres tall and possess a bulky physique, making them among the most powerful natural combatants in Cyrannus.

A proud warrior race with a long history of honourable conflict with other species, the might of Varonav gave pause even to the Basileus Imperium, which never succeeded in breaking through the seemingly impenetrable defences of the Lauronian. During the Great Cyrannus War, however, their space fell under attack by the Cyrannian Neraida, which effortlessly annihilated Varonav's defence fleets and stood poised to assimilate the entire species.

At their moment of impending doom, the Lauronian people looked to the skies to see the iconic dreadnoughts of the Delpha Coalition of Planets fighting against the Neraida Cubes. After the DCP forced the Neraida to retreat, the Lauronian High Command swore fealty to the Plazithians, and became counted among the first Cyrannian species to join an extragalactic power. Although Lauronian space fell under Imperial control during the Second Great Cyrannus War, it was subsequently liberated by a joint DCP/New Republic armada, and the Lauronian have prospered as Delphan members in the decades since.

Loron[]

DrelasPortrait

Drelas, the most notorious crime boss of the Cyrannian Loron families.

  • Homeworld: Groodrub (Originally), Tianauck (Adopted)
  • Classification: Insectoreptilian
  • Distinctions: Immense strength
  • Spacefaring: Unknown, arrived in Cyrannus in 11 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Aggressive, brutish, loyal to family
  • Notable Individuals: Drelas

Descended from Loron mercenaries from the now-destroyed Ottzello Galaxy, the Cyrannian Loron are a species of insectoreptilians who arrived in Cyrannus in 11 BNE. With the galaxy distracted by the outbreak of the Trucinex War and the formation of the modern Gigaquadrant, few species in Cyrannus noticed the arrival of the mysterious new extragalactics, who poured through the Ottzello wormhole and colonised the desert planet of Tianauck, close to the borders of the Panthrea Slaver Guild. Settled on the planet, the Loron carved significant chunks of land on the planet among various crime families, and proceeded to refit their native starships to plunder native trade convoys along the nearby Perliama Hyperlane.

Although the Tianauck wormhole to Ottzello was closed during the galaxy's destruction in the Annihilation, the Loron continued to spread their malign influence by allying themselves with the Cyrannian Syndicate under the leadership of Flovos Pretio. During this time, the various crime families of Tianauck united under the leadership of the Big Boss Drelas. Unlike many Loron, Drelas attempted to portray himself in the eyes of galactic authorities as a legitimate businessbeing, involved in hiring out his people's greatest warriors to the highest bidder. In spite of this, and in opposition to Drelas' philosophy, many Cyrannian Loron aided their brethren in Da Rogue Boyz during Da Reckoning in 09 NE, during which the New Cyrannian Republic was brutally attacked by maruading Loron gangs led by the Norol Rel'larutina.

In the aftermath of the conflict and the Second Great Cyrannus War, most Loron in Cyrannus returned under the leadership of Drelas, who sought to continue to spread his influence in the Syndicate.

Mataii[]

MataiiProfile

Mataii society is based on trade and their magnificent gold starships are a welcome sight of trade for many species across the galaxy.

Main article: Creature:Mataii
  • Homeworld: Tega
  • Classification: Capricyránae Saurian
  • Distinctions: Typical troodontid characteristics
  • Spacefaring: 4,980 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Peaceful · Submissive · Cultural · Trade-minded
  • Notable Individuals: Rivergron

The Mataii are a species of troodontid saurian native to Tega, a tropical planet in the Dusavali Sector. Considered to be the Seventh Tribe of the Capricyránae, the Mataii are closely related to the Dromeourus and the Libertus of the galactic interior, but are considerably more avian than either.

Universally respected in Cyrannus for their contributions to galactic trade, the Mataii Guilds became famous for their magnificent golden starships, which quickly became a welcome sight on spacelanes as far afield as Coru Secundus. Politically neutral and aloof, the Mataii Guilds did business with both the United Republic of Cyrannus and the Confederacy of Allied Systems during the First Great War, and continued under the flag of the Empire in the conflict's aftermath. Nevertheless, the draconian methods of Imperial forces quickly forced many Mataii into the loyalties of the New Republic, or, such as in the case of Mandator Rivergron, into the grasp of the Cyrannian Syndicate.

The Mataii are naturally very peaceful, but are stereotyped as being submissive to the wills of more forceful species. Nevertheless, in times of great need and hardship, the Mataii can be strong willed and set in their opinions and resolve. They are also known across the galaxy for their welcoming culture, which celebrates music, food and wine, and makes Mataii worlds very hospitable to even the most jaded individual.

Medracon[]

MedraconProfile

An enigmatic species, Medracon scientists are among the most esteemed in Cyrannus.

  • Homeworld: Nocra
  • Classification: Draconic
  • Distinctions: Short snouts, large wings
  • Spacefaring: 9,403 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Enigmatic · Loyal · Inquisitive

The Medracon are a draconic species native to Nocra, a mountainous planet located in the sector of the same name, within the overarching territory which once constituted the Basileus Imperium. Respected across Cyrannus for their scientific advances, the Medracon were the among the few who earned the respect of the neighbouring Basileus, and were the only species in recorded history who were offered a place, rather than forced, in the Basileus Imperium.

Visually distinct from other Cyrannian Draconic races such as the Draken and the Trucinex by their short snouts and elaborate horns, most Medracon possess gleaming gold scales and a long curving tail, which is in a constant state of motion. Among other Medracon, the tail is used to communicate nonverbally, providing the people of Nocra with a method of ensuring that their conversations are not decoded by other species.

Despite their membership in the Basileus Imperium, which began in 8,930 BNE, the Medracon are regarded by many as being relatively non-political. Few possess any real interest in intergalactic politics or diplomacy, and have instead come to rely on the Basileus to represent their interests when dealing with other factions. Critics of the Basileus have often claimed that this has been to the detriment of Nocra, although few Medracon have complained. During the Second Great Cyrannus War, Medracon space fell under Nalargwen's Imperial Remnant, and remained loyal to her in the conflict's aftermath.

Merkatari[]

MerkatariProfile

A rigid and industrious species, the Merkatari have long been associated with the Transgalactic Bank of Cyrannus.

  • Homeworld: Muunilaria
  • Classification: Humanoid
  • Distinctions: Lanky, elongated cranium
  • Spacefaring: 970 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Conformitive · Industrious · Greedy
  • Notable Individuals: Magister Tanor Brumask, TransGalactic Bank of Cyrannus

The Merkatari are a humanoid species native to Muunilaria, in the Northwest Reaches of the Outer Rim. Merkatari tower over most humanoid species, reaching heights of 2.5 metres, and possess long, thin limbs, large eyes and a elongated skull containing a highly advanced brain. Although relative newcomers to the galactic stage, achieving spacefaring capabilities in 970 BNE, the Merkatari have become incredibly influential by establishing the TransGalactic Bank of Cyrannus—the largest financial institution in Cyrannus, with roots throughout the First Gigaquadrant.

Allied, and occasionally rivalled, by the similarly minded Ntáis and Poulí, which originated from nearby sectors of the Outer Rim, the Merkatari and their homeworld of Muunilaria strive for strict political impartiality during galactic conflicts. During the First Great War, the TGC were investors in both sides of the conflict, although by the conflict's conclusion in 01 NE, it was among many important galactic institutions to the imperialised by the newly established Galactic Empire of Cyrannus. Nevertheless, under Magister Tanor Brumask, the organisation began to reassert itself in sectors beyond Imperial influence, and showed clear support for the New Republic during the Cyrannian Cold War.

This support did not go unnoticed by the Empire, which blockaded Muunilaria during the Second Great War. After the Battle of Orbispira in 20 NE, the planet was liberated by a joint Republic and Confederate armada, allowing the Merkatari to spread their influence in the Outer Rim once more.

Nosisan[]

NosisanProfile

Once numerous, the Nosisan have become an endangered species after their homeworld was sterilised by the Empire.

  • Homeworld: Nosiso
  • Classification: Insectoid
  • Distinctions: Exoskeleton
  • Spacefaring: 970 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Animalistic · Industrious
  • Notable Individuals: Gokyvax

The Nosisan are the insectoid natives of Nosiso in the Carindes Sector of the Outer Rim. The Nosisan have a hard chitinous exoskeleton that provided protection from physical impacts and shields them from radiation. Despite their frail look, they are quite strong and have a thick hide, and are able to shed it when they desire.

The Nosisan have a strict caste system led by a female colloquially referred to as the 'Queen'. Under the direction of the queen, workers further the interests of the entire hive, and while individuals rarely show much in the way of intelligence without such direction, individuals can still distinguish themselves. Such individuals are often elevated to the position of Warrior, tasked with the protection of the Queen, while the workers work tirelessly under her baleful gaze.

Despite developing spacefaring capabilities in 970 BNE, the Nosisans were rarely seen beyond Nosiso, though the productivity of the Nosisan hives soon attracted other species to make orders to protect entire fleets of starships and legions of military vehicles. Their first involvement with galactic politics was in 04 BNE, when the Nosisan Queen allied herself with the Confederacy of Allied Systems, with the foundries of Nosiso providing much of the Confederacy's military assets during the First Great War.

When the Confederacy fell, the Nosisans became common slaves for the newly created Empire, becoming involved in a great variety of construction projects across the galaxy. The Miklee Nosisan hive managed to escape enslavement, however, and escaped to the Quadrant Galaxies to establish a second homeworld for their species. During the third year of the Dark Times, the Nosisans led by Nak'kak'chish and Taros Cassynder revolted against the Empire, ultimately liberating their planet and bringing it under the fold of the Confederacy of Free Planets.

Decades later, the Empire retaliated against the Nosisan uprising by annihilating the surface of Nosiso with the Imperial flagship Sovereign, sterilising the entire planet and reducing the Nosisans to an endangered species, found only in the Milkee Hive, and lost individuals along the starways.

Ntáis[]

NtáisProfile

Forgers of numerous Outer Rim hyperlanes, the Ntáis were among the strongest supporters of the Confederacy of Allied Systems during the First Great War.

  • Homeworld: Ntáiso
  • Classification: Insectoid
  • Distinctions: Spindly limbs, tall
  • Spacefaring: 2,104 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Benevolent · Loyal · Inquisitive

The insectoid Ntáis are native to the desert planet Ntáiso, in the sector of the same name, along the Muunilaria Run hyperspace lane. Standing 3.6 metres tall, the Ntáis tower over most other species, and have long, spindly limbs and an elaborate head crest. The head crest of a Ntáis changes colour depending on the mood of an individual, with red implying anger and white contentment.

Despite their bizarre appearance, the Ntáis have spread to every major star system in Cyrannus, and find integration with other species a simple affair. Well respected by other species in the Outer Rim and beyond, the Ntáiso were instrumental in establishing the Commerce Alliance—a vast conglomeration which included a vast range of galaxy-wide organisations, including shipbuilders, trade unions and arms manufacturers.

Like many other galactic consortiums, the Commerce Alliance played both sides in the First Great War between the Confederacy of Allied Systems and the Cyrannian Republic, and were among the few of their counterparts to retain some autonomy under the reign of the Empire. While this autonomy was due to the Ntáis possessing high influence in many Imperial organisations, the vast Imperial fleet stationed above Ntáiso served as a reminder to the Ntáis that the autonomy of the Commerce Alliance was at the pleasure of the Empire.

After the New Cyrandia Wars, most Ntáis supported the rise of the Confederacy of Free Planets, and while Ntáiso fell within the post-Second Great Cyrannus War borders of the New Republic, influential Ntáis politicians have served as diplomats ensuring ever-closer union between the Confederacy and the Republic.

Obapia[]

ObapiaProfile

The Obapia are a peaceful species who long suffered under the yoke of the Basileus Imperium.

  • Homeworld: Obapi
  • Classification: Saurian
  • Distinctions: Small frame, birdlike
  • Spacefaring: 781 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Friendly · Caring · Respectful

Obapia are a bird-like saurian species native to the desert moon of Obapi, in the Obapia Sector of the Southern Outer Rim. A diminuative species in comparison to most others in the Cyrannus Galaxy, the Obapia can be distinguished by their lithe frames, sharp beaks, unique headcrest and feathers which cover most of their body.

In all of its unique forms, Obapian culture is based on the concept of family, and for caring about each and every generation. Both children and the elderly are seen as the most important individuals in society, and as a result, the quality of life on Obapi is among the highest in the Outer Territories. Nevertheless, although Obapian culture is well respected in nearby sectors, it is often said that their potential to make a lasting impact on galactic affairs was hampered centuries ago, when the Basileus Imperium annexed the relatively undefended Obapian Sector. Under Imperator Tyranus, Obapian colonies were stripmined to support his growing armada in the years prior to the First Great War.

Obapian fortunes began to turn with the establishment of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus in 01 NE, which dissolved the Basileus government and transferred its authority to the galactic capital on Orbispira. In the aftermath, Obapia began to spread throughout Cyrannus, although their native space would become a battleground during both the New Cyrandia Wars and the Second Great Cyrannus War. In the aftermath of the conflict, Obapian space fell within the territory claimed by the Imperial Remnant.

Panthrea[]

PanthreaProfile

Masters of the Panthrea Slaver Guild, the Panthrea scattered across the galaxy when the guild was destroyed by the Empire in 13 NE.

  • Homeworld: Panthrean Prime
  • Classification: Feloid
  • Distinctions: Feline characteristics
  • Spacefaring: 40,872 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Matriarchal · Segregated · Proud

The Panthrea are a feloid race native to the harsh Panthrean Prime, located in the northern Outer Rim. Believed to be closely related to the Katharon, the Panthrea are a harsh and unforgiving species, and have slightly more humanoid characteristics than their more peaceful cousins. Distinguished by their large ears and deadly claws, the Panthrea are a fierce and often violent people, having developed in a society which thrives on bloodshed.

Once masters of the Panthrea Slaver Guild, the Panthrea were strictly segregated according to gender and species—with female Panthrea being considered to be the master race of the galaxy. Built upon the backs of thousands of conquered slaves from across Cyrannus and beyond, the Slaver Guild operated in the shadows for much of its history, working to prevent its activities from drawing the ire of subsequent galactic governments.matriarchal society led by the feloid Panthrea, the Slaving Guid is strictly segregated according to gender and species—with female Panthrea being considered to be the master race of the galaxy. Formed in 40,872 BNE, the Slaver Guild expanded unchecked throughout the Outer Rim before the First Republic intervened, reducing the territory to a handful of systems rimward of the Perliama Hyperlane.

With the formation of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus in 01 NE, the Panthrea, led by the wily High Queen Asenath, began to subtly expand their territory into the relatively unexplored Tianauck and Dunrakkin Sectors, and subsequently became a powerful force in the galactic underworld. At the height of her power, however, a vast Imperial armada commanded by Grand Admiral Tector Decimius invaded Panthrea Space from the naval base at Chansharl. Ill equipped to contend with the Empire's might, seventeen systems of Panthrean territory fell within the first week, and by the end of the second, the Imperial Army marched through the streets of Panthrean Prime.

After capturing and forcing Queen Asenath into servitude, the Imperial Navy bombarded Panthrean Prime from orbit, reducing entire continents to magma. Over the course of the next several months, the Panthrea population within Imperial-occupied territory "disappeared", leaving only a handful of scattered individuals across the galaxy.

Phaedra[]

PhaedraProfile

The Phaedra were a red-skinned humanoid species with reptilian features.

  • Homeworld: Phaedron
  • Classification: Reptilian humanoids
  • Spacefaring: Unknown
  • Cultural Characteristics: Warlike · Dark · Diabolical
  • Notable Individuals: Venatorius · Maethoruin · Archaxys

The Phaedra are a red-skinned reptilian humanoid species native to the dark and desolate desert planet of Phaedron in the Ord Celan Sector of the Outer Territories. Today, the name 'Phaedra' is most often used to describe members of the Phaedric Order, the esoteric organisation formed by Emperor Tyrómairon who wield the power of the Darkness. However, the modern order takes its name from the fearsome empires forged by the Phaedric people, who arose from the sands of Phaedron to cut a bloody swath through the galaxy.

While the ancient Phaedra possessed a typical humanoid form, with a head, two arms and standing on two legs, they had scaly red skin, yellow eyes and bony protrusions on their face and head. In addition to their taller stature and increased musculature, the Phaedra were a force to be reckoned with for millennia. In ancient Phaedric society, warfare and bloodshed were seen in an almost religious light as a universal invariance, and thus, it was the duty of the strong to cull the weak from the cosmos. As such, the ancient Phaedric Empire ritualistically annihilated entire species, claiming that such an outpouring of blood strengthened their connection to the Darkness. Despite the barbarity of their conquests, Phaedric society was sophisticated and cultured, albeit one which disdained extravagance and luxurious living. Instead, Phaedric nobility proved their worth through spreading fear among the lower classes.

Although the Phaedra first evolved on Phaedron, they later established a series of other "throne worlds" located across Cyrannus, utilising their homeworld's proximity to a so-called "Wormhole Plateau" to forge an empire dotted across Cyrannus, anchored by worlds such as Antemurale, Nandóband, Thyelles and Moros, often located on the opposite end of the galaxy from Phaedron. An enigmatic and warlike civilisation, the Phaedric Empire was long regarded as a myth by the inhabitants of the Core until the devastating attack on Orbispira in 45,498 BNE. The Phaedric Empire would ultimately go on to battle against the First Republic for almost the entirety of its history, but would ultimately fall during the Last Phaedric War in 23,262 BNE.

During the final years of the Last Phaedric War, the empire cryogenically froze a number of important warriors in the hope that they would rise again and forge a new Phaedric Empire. This led to the rise of Venatorius, the infamous Crimson Conqueror, during the Dark Times. Enthralled by the Dark Lord Tyrómairon, Venatorius formed the modern Phaedric Order to honour his people, and would later be joined by his fellow ancient Phaedric Maethoruin and Archaxys. Although Venatorius was killed during the Great Battle of Orbispira in 20 NE, his legacy, and that of the ancient Phaedric people, continues in the depths of the Unknown Regions, where ancient redoubts of lost power dwell.

Poulí[]

PoulíProfile

Poulí space is one of the most prosperous regions in the Outer Rim, owing to their long standing association with the Transgalactic Bank of Cyrannus.

  • Homeworld: Poulípolis
  • Classification: Avian
  • Spacefaring: 2,985 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Peaceful · Even-handed · Devoted

The Poulí are avian beings native to Poulípolis on the fringes of the Outer Rim. Having soared as their planet's dominant species for thousands of years prior to ascending to space in 2,985 BNE, the Poulí are highly intelligent and possess powerful wings, talons and an intriguing talent for the mimicry of a whole range of sentient species.

Closely allied to the Merkatari and the Transgalactic Bank of Cyrannus, the Poulí have crafted a collection of garden worlds in their home sector which are the envy of many species in the Outer Rim. Even-handed and prosperous, the Poulí are content leading simple lives in small villages rather than large cities, and as a result, their population grows as a glacial pace. Indeed, while their numbers are relatively few, Poulí influence has spread along the hyperlanes, with many young Poulí relocating to more cosmopolitan worlds in the hope of exploring the galaxy.

In galactic affairs, the Poulí have shown considerable loyalty to the ideals of the Confederacy of Free Planets, resulting in the Poulí government officially joining the new Confederacy upon the end of the Second Great Cyrannus War in 26 NE. Their ascension to Confederate membership coincided with that of their close allies, the Riconedo.

Qiranit Radeon[]

QiranitRadeonProfile

The Qiranit Radeon are separated from the rest of the Radeon people by their red fur, larger stature, and, culturally, by their secular worldview.

  • Homeworld: Miragna
  • Classification: Mammalian
  • Distinctions: Red fur
  • Spacefaring: Unknown
  • Cultural Characteristics: Cold · Emotionless · Intelligent · Secular
  • Notable Individuals: Agnassana

The Qiranit, known also among non-Radeons as the Cyrandia Radeons, are a Radeon sub-race native to the Cyrandia Cluster, descended from colonists and missionaries that came to the galaxy centuries ago to spread the Church of Spode's religious influence. Separated from the rest of the Radeon people by their red fur, larger stature, and, culturally, by their secular worldview, the Qiranit are, alongside the Wexord, the dominant species in the Miragna Sector of the Cyrannus Galaxy; they also form an ethnic minority in the Divinarium and the Rambo Nation.

Though hardly the most prominent people in the Cluster, the Cyrandia Radeons have neverthless garnered significant influence in the politics of the Outer Rim, their species' traditional collectivism and dedication earning great respect under both the Second Republic and the Cyrannian Empire. However, this respect is quite often mixed with fear and disgust: Qiranit atrocities during the Great Cyrannus War and the Dark Times have firmly equated their people's name with tyranny, oppression and bloodshed.

Riconedo[]

RiconedoProfile

The Riconedo are native to the distinct Ricon Sector, where they developed free from alien aggression.

  • Homeworld: Ricon
  • Classification: Mammalian
  • Spacefaring: 975 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Intelligent · Curious · Accepting

The Riconedo are a mammalian species native to Ricon, close to the territory of the Poulí and the Merkatari. While accepting of outsiders, the Riconedo possess facial characteristics often regarded as unattractive by other mammalian species, prompting many unenlightened beings to naturally mistrust the Riconedo. Nevertheless, the Riconedo are among the most peaceful and warm species in Cyrannus, with a deep love for family and simple acts of kindness.

Developing in a region of the Outer Rim relatively devoid of other sentient species, the Riconedo made first contact with the Poulí in 854 BNE, with the two species quickly forming a cultural rapport which continues to this day. Unlike the Poulí, however, the Riconedo quickly began exploring the spacelanes of Cyrannus, spreading rapidly throughout the Rims and the Core Worlds. By the era of the United Republic, Riconedo could be found in all walks of life, from influential politicians on Orbispira, to lowly bounty hunters on Tar Kuuraen.

While culturally loyal to the ideal of the New Republic, the official Riconedo government officially joined the Confederacy of Free Planets in 28 NE, alongside the Poulí. Within the Confederacy, the Riconedo have often been the strongest voices in favour of unity between the two galactic governments.

Tezelteän[]

TezelteänProfile

The Tezelteän are a humanoid race, distinguished by their purple skins. Passionate and hot tempered, and are well known members of the galactic community.

  • Homeworld: Tezelteä
  • Classification: Humanoid
  • Cultural Characteristics: Passionate · Hot-tempered · Friendly
  • Notable Individuals: Allie Narea · Xora

The Tezelteän are a humanoid race native to Tezelteä, along the Perliama Run in the northern Outer Rim. The Tezelteän are passionate and hot tempered, and are well known members of the galactic community. Distinguished by their purple skins, the Tezelteän were originally native to the Quadrant Galaxies, but thousands of years ago a massive spatial anomaly transported their world to Cyrannus, in an event which the tribal Tezelteän referred to as the Great Light.

As the Tezelteän began exploring space, they soon encountered the Federation of United Worlds, which they opened trade negotiations with, discovering that their homeworld lay close to the pivotal Perliama Hyperlane. While relations were positive, the Tezelteän refused to join the Federation, and were thus easy targets by the nearby Panthrea Slaver Guild, resulting in many of their people being sold into slavery. In 10 BNE, they joined the United Republic of Cyrannus and enjoyed a period of wealth and growth, with many joining the Republic Navy as captains and commanders.

When in 01 NE the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus was formed, the Tezelteän remained members of the "new URC" and believed the Emperor would bring back order and peace. And he did, though the Tezelteän at whole frowned upon some decisions like attacking the URC close allies Rambo Nation and expelling other non Cyrannus native empires. When the New Cyrannian Republic was formed in 03 NE, may Tezelteän became members.

Trucinex[]

TrucinexProfile

The Trucinex are known for their tremendous strength, being able to hurl enemy soldiers to their deaths with their bare hands during the Trucinex War.

  • Homeworld: Nex
  • Classification: Draconic
  • Distinctions: Wings, incredible strength
  • Spacefaring: 1480 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Religious · Spiritual · Aggressive
  • Notable Individuals: Nexarón Valkistair · Nexul Tohon · Nerazachi

The Trucinex are a species of draconic reptilians native to the Cyrannian Outer Rim world of Nex. A moralistic and deeply spiritual species, the Trucinex came to Gigaquadrantic attention during the Trucinex War in 11 BNE, resulting in the defeat of the fanatical Trucinex Imperium and the division of Trucinex space between the allied powers.

In the years prior to, and during, the Trucinex War, Trucinex society and culture was influenced by an extreme devotion to the One God through the leadership of the Church of the One and its chosen leader, the Nex Prophet. The Church of the One taught a particular interpretation of the One God subsequently known as the Pure Essence theory, whereby the One God represents the purity of the essence of the cosmos. Although the Trucinex believed that this One God was a benevolent force and that everything occurs according to its design, the religion was perverted by Nex Prophet CCXII into one of militancy and religious extremism. Subsequent to the war, while most Trucinex retain a faith in the One God, they shun the legacy of the Nex Prophet as destructive and barbaric.

With the exception of the period in which they were overseen by the fanatical Nex Prophet, the Trucinex are generally a peaceful and accommodating species, believing that all life in the cosmos has a role in a grand plan by a higher being known as the One God. In the decades after the end of the Trucinex War, their religious beliefs have spread beyond their space, while various Trucinex have ascended to high positions of galactic power, such as Nexarón Valkistair, who became the second President of the New Republic in 07 NE.

Tvaioa[]

TvaioaProfile

The Tvaioa are a cosmopolitan species native to the arid moon of Monai Tvá.

  • Homeworld: Monai Tvá
  • Classification: Pseudoceratopsian
  • Spacefaring: 50 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Cosmopolitan · Peaceful · Spiritual

The Tvaioa are a species of pseudoceratopsian native to the arid moon Monai Tvá, located close to the border of the Mid Rim. Tall and graceful, the Tvaioa have many avian characteristics, including a sharp beak and talons on their hands and feet, though evolved from fearsome predators rather than peaceful grazers like most ceratopsians. Spread across their homeworld of Monai Tva, the various cultures of Tvaioa were united in their worship of the Oikoumene, in large part due to the abundance of Oikoumene artifacts discovered across their world.

Possession of the Oikoumene artifacts was the driving force behind centuries of internecine conflict on Monai Tvá, culminating in a devastating nuclear war estimated to have resulted in the death of over three billion Tvaioan. In the decades following the conclusion of the war, the Tvaioa slowly began to repair the damage caused to their world, uniting under the auspices of the Monai Tvá Confederation. Achieving spacefaring capabilities in 50 BNE, the Tvaioa were soon contacted by the newly formed United Republic of Cyrannus, and gladly joined the galactic government. Their involvement in the URC ultimately brought their world under attack during the Great Cyrannus War, during which the Confederate warlord Zillum ambushed a Cyrandia Alliance fleet in orbit over the moon. While Monai Tv itself was not invaded, Republic Navy recruitment among the Tvaioa skyrocketed.

While the Tvaioa are still a relatively rare sight in the wider galaxy, they are found in growing numbers on the galactic capital Orbispira, often serving as diplomats or in other political positions as representatives of their species.

Zelana[]

ZelanaProfile

The Zelana are generally peaceful, and yet can get highly aggressive if insulted.

  • Homeworld: Kabalan
  • Classification: Avian
  • Spacefaring: 180 BNE
  • Cultural Characteristics: Intelligent · Secretive · Inventive

The Zelana are an avian species native to Kabalan, in the Cadian Sector of the northern Outer Rim. Slender and quick-lived, individual Zelana rarely live above the age of forty, and as a result, live, think and talk extremely quickly in comparison to other species. Renowned for their technological innovations, the Zelana are relative newcomers on the galactic stage, joining the United Republic of Cyrannus in 10 BNE.

Upon joining the Republic, the Zelanai government on Kabalan became major participants in advanced scientific research, quickly advancing their native society by opening it completely to galactic trade. As citizens, Zelana were found on many social levels, from high ranking officers in the Republic Navy, to ordinary citizens. Indeed, the same could be same for their roles in colonial management in regions of renewed colonisation efforts during the final decade of the URC. Upon the establishment of the Empire, most Zelana went about their daily lives without complaint, content to further their people's scientific advances under the watch of the Empire, and remaining generally uninvolved in the power struggles between the Empire and the New Republic.

During the Second Great Cyrannus War, Zelana space remained under Imperial control for much of the conflict, but was abandoned by the Imperial Remnants in the wake of the Battle of Orbispira. Subsequently, the Zelana have prospered under the New Republic.
