It is by sheer will that the mighy rise to rule.
And we Draconis are the mightiest in all Dranvamus if not the Gigaquadrant!

- Patriarch Uriel XVI

The Empire of the Unified Dranvamus Galaxy or simply the Empire of Dranvamus is an ancient and mighty galactic empire with in the Dranvamus Galaxy and a major province of the Gigaquadrantic Hegemony. Through sheer military force the empire has come to dominate its galaxy of origin, establishing an all-encompassing governemnt to Dranvamus.

Characterised by millions of comparatively primitive systems administrated by a handful of high-technology worlds maintained by the Draconis, the Empire keeps its population in line with a state-maintained religious system among uplifted and less sophisticated Imperial that claims the Draconis, as well as other advanced spacefaring civilizations in the Hegemony such as the Libertus to be godlike beings. As ell as religion, the EMpire matintained a powerful military presence in Dranvamus using trillions of warships.

History[]

Territory[]

The hub of the Empire is the Dranvamus Galaxy where the empire controls a few million systems as well as several million uninhabited systems used for remote supply and remote industry. As well as having unrivalled ominion over Dranvamus the empire holds unrivalled control of Dranvamus' sattellite galaxies as well as sizeable portions of the Plazith RIm and Bunsen galaxies. All of it officially being part of the Gigaquadrantic Hegemony, due to the Empire's special relationship with the other founders it has more-or-less free-reign over its governance of Dranvamus as well as the other galaxies in is dominion.

The empire's territories are noticeably peppered with thousands of planets populated by early-spacefaring, interplanetary, eraly interstellar and pre-spaceflight societies that pay tithes to the imperial government. Each planet is goverend by a single Draconis governor who often surrounds him/herself with dozens of advisors and is accompanied by hundreds of aministrtors. These pre-intragalactic societies are frequently treated as barely significant by the imperial government, seen as ntohing more tha nstock by the Dominicus Administratum; the Empire's adminsitrative organisation.

Pre-intragalactic cutlures often intermingle unwillingly with the more advanced members of the empire. Unlike the pre-intragalactics, the empire holds the more advanced empires - both those conquered and those who joined willingly - in comparatively high regard, with members being given privelages vastly envied by the less-advanced members. The advanced members serve as hubs of industry and science while the less advanced members serve as agrarian hubs and sources of recruitment for the United Dranvaman Navy.

Connecting all provinces of the empire as well as linking with the empire's neighbours is a vast network of wormholes generated from energy created by a vast black hole energy industry that doubles as a foundation for more commercial industry. Around a third of the empire's territory is inhaited, the rest being the site of remote mining forays, listening posts and remote energy generation to provide for the mroe populated regions of the empire. Due to its voracious industrial appetite, Dranvamus is littered with shattered husks of planets and dying stars surroudned by matter collectors, scars of the empire's ravenous industry.

Government[]

The Patriarch[]

The head of state of the EMpire is the patriarch. Typically a meritocratically-chosen position, selected by the present patriarch from his closest offspring. A typically male-dominated position, it has been documented that patriarchs have clained the title by force by slaying the previous holder. From a legislative perspective the patriarchs act outside the Imperial courts of law, permitting them to perform whatever action they see fit. The one key restrint is that the patriarch must hear the words of advisors now-and-again and his advisors the authority to undermine him if they believe he is perfoming in an out-of-control manner; a state that only his closest advisors can ascertain.

As well as being head-of-state, the patriarch is also the symbolic figurehead of the empire's state-ordained religion. reated as a god amongst mere mortals by the less advanced species of the empire. The patriarch understandably expects aboslute loyalty fro mhis military officials as well as his servants. While the patriarc hcan act above imperial law, he cannot change it without the approval of his advisors.

Dominicus Administratum[]

The Dominicus Administratum is the administrative branch of the EMpire of Dranvamus. Their purpose is to keep tallies and organise the yottabites of raw information that pours into the Imperium's logistical mainframes every day. The administratum is spread out in branchses across the empire, preferring draconis hub-planets or dyson-based computers to base themselves. The unofficial headquarters of the administratum is the palace of archives within Orras'Dacon, a city on Alcanti's southern continent.

The Dominicus Administratum is also in charge of supply in the United Dranvaman Navy and organising labour forces specifically among the less advanced cultures of the empire. Hours are often long and advances in technology mean that only a handful of applicants get to attend to the massive AI networks keeping the Administratum running but performing jobs as menial as making sure everything about aeach AI node is nominal.

Despite this, to work in the Administratum is a highly sought-after career prospect as one is effectively supplied by the state with everything they need. Applicants may very well become planetary or even system governors although the jobs are only applicable to the high-end spacefaring species of the empire.

Society[]

A large majority of species within the Empire were assimilated as tribal cultures and because of the crushing influence of the Draconis' fabricated religion, many of them retain the primitive supersitions and tribal customs they held upon assimilation. It is common to regard much of the population as uplifted primitives for that is waht they are.

Some species - primarily those who were spacfaring when the Empire found and assimilated them such as the Artharons, Vartekians and the Nasyada - are more practically grounded and are often of higher standing than the tribally-assimilated species. Within the pantheon these ancient spacefarers are sometiems revered as "lesser gods", humbled by the Draconis and absorbed into their empire.

While there are a few thousand registered "Draconis colonies", tha Draconis themselves prefer to rule their empire on-high, prefering low-atmospheric or orbital cities to live in as they go about their day-to-day lives, often looming over the settments of less advanced species as a reminder of who exactly is in charge. As desireable as these settlements are, less than a handful are ermitted any firther inside one than a docking bay or supply area.

Inhabitants[]

Religion[]

The most pervasive aspect of the EMpire of Dranvamus is the system of religion that is prevalent primarily among the species that were conquered and uplifted to an extent by the Draconis. The religion, known within the empire as "Astronotum Divinum", promotes the treatment of advanced spacefaring races as "star gods", the deception aided by the advanced technology the Empire's contacts posess during first contact. The Empire uses this religious sytem to wow primitive cultures and more willfully absorb them as second-class citizens.

As wel las the Draconis, the few other species held in such high reverence include the Artharons, Libertus and Rambo Serindia. Inversely, entities such as the Neraida and Bisistar are frequently portrayed as demons to which the Hegemony soundly drove into oblivion.

The religion also serves to give the assimilated cultures as ense of place, one aspect being the promise of a select few ascending to become star gods themselves with guidance from the Draconis and other hyperadvanced members. While this is no lie - the process in fact akin to a primitive member adopting a livestyle within civilized society - only a tiny fraction get a chance to ascend to such status, often quickly learning that such a position is not all as majestic as it sounds but too enthralled by the marvels they surround themselves with to want to return to a more humble existence.

Astronotum Divinum however has done nothing for the hubris of those it ascends or promotes as star gods. Several draconis and even some aliens fully taken in with the idea the less advanced species exist to be their playthings.

Economy[]

The Empire relies on manual as well as automated labour for a variety of tasks. The agrarian industry for instance is maintained primarily by the less advanced and pre-spaceflight cultures withi nthe empire's borders while engineering projects are the domain of mroe advanced members. Unlike the counterpart empire of an alternate universe, the Empire's industries have no qualms with stripping planets, moons, asteroids or stars bare of resources to fuel the fires of industry. Dyson swarms have been erected by the hundreds over the millenia and millions of unpopulated planets are the site of planetary-scale strip mining operations.

All the immense industry allows for the privileged higher-up of the empire's society to live lifestyles free from starvation, poverty or any kind of shortage, living off the backs of primitive labour and broken planets. A massive popaganda machine prevents any from questioning the industry's sustainablity, many citizens accepting that it is the will of "the strong" to take what they need and for the feeble and the primitive to lie down and accept this.

This industry comes at an even larger price. Due to the intricacies of givernment there is little regulation in environmental preservation and pre-spaceflight societies can easily become targets for greedy planetary mining firms who care next to little about their welfare, often deeming such residents as unworthy of significance. These actions have undoutably led to the near-extinction of pre-spaceflight socirties in the past. Tese harsh actions are countered by the common Imperial practice of spreading a pre-spaceflight culture over dozens of planets to maximise their usefulness in the broader scope.

Technology[]

For millennia the Empire of Dranvamus has held a high standard of technological achievement. Much of this technology comes from the cannibalisation and further refinement of technology squired from conquered powers and uncovered precursor technology. Despite this preference for capturing technology from their own, the refinement of technologies owned by subsumed races has elevated the heart of the Empire to the level comparable to an Elder civilisation.

Due to their technology, envoy vessels and warships of the Empire proper have an enigmatic reputation for appearing and disappearing at a whim, while warships can appear and decimate entire fleets before jumping back into hyperspace. Their advancements in weapons, transportation and cybernetics has allowed emissaries to pass themselves off as supernatural beings in order to impress less advanced civilisations into joining the Empire, or further intimidating enemies with technology that can on-appearances blur the line between magic and technology.

Military[]

As one of the founding emmbers of the Gigaquadrantic Hegemony alongside the former Cyrannica-Quadrantia Hegemony, the Empire of Dranvamus holds a great amount of freedom when organising and governing its military forces. Using systems and principles that have been in place long before the rise of the Libertus Empire, it has maintained an iron grip on the Dranvamus Galaxy for over fifty-thousand years if not longer.

Due to it's scope and spread, the Empire undoutably posesses one of the largest military forces in the entire galaxy. The redundant engineering techniues allow for individual ships to serve for thousands of years yet still remaining comparable to the new designs of other provinces of the Hegemony. Some warships such as the DHWS Primal Vengence serving as far back the great wars that forged the Gigaquadrantic Hegemony and before, over twenty millennia ago.

The empire perfers maximum autonomy of its warships, prefering to use pre-spacefaring societies as stock for ground troops and vehicle pilots. Even though much of the Empire's military comes from pre-spaceflight stock, the military (known as the United Dranvaman Navy) uses a mix of cybernetic augmentation and hypnotic conditioning to transform recruits into dangerous killing machines who exist solely to fight for bot the Empire and the Hegemony. Many such soldiers lose recollection of who they were before, a destructive sacrifice that many commanders in the UDN deem as a blessing; giving their soldiers a new life as opposed to the compartively simple lifestyles they originated from. The augmentation and hypnotic conditioning make the subject a shadow of their former sevles and allows for members of cultures as primitve as a neolithic society to utilise weapons and armour that they would not have developed themselves until countless millenia without the Draconis' aid.
