The Gigaquadrantic Intergalactic Trade Organization (GITO) is an economic and astropolitical body of free trade groups operating within the bulk of the Xonexi cluster and in the Quadrant Galaxies. GITO differs from other trade bodies in that aside having several sovereign states as partners it also includes other international bodies as part of itself such as the Farengeto Trade Coalition and the Orion League. Members also work together on developmental and research projects in a sense of mutual cooperation in order to improve the average quality of life in the First Gigaquadrant.
Despite its age, being founded in 2797, GITO has become very widespread politically and economically. This is presumably due to the influence of its founding members; the Draconid Imperium, the Tybusen Intergalactic Allied Federation, the Farengeto Trade Coalition and the French Colonial Empire.
History
The earliest signs that indicated for GITO's formation occurred in December 2790 when then-grand mandator Aeresius of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus visted Alcanti to arrange an alliance between the empire and the Andromedan Galactic Commonwealth. However at the last minute the grand mandator pulled out of the talks, sparking a period of anti-imperial sentiment in both the Andromeda and Bunsen galaxies. This sentiment continued for five years until efforts were made to initially improve but the scars persisted.
In late 2797 an international summit of businessmen and dignitaries from the Draconid Imperium, Tybusen Intergalactic Allied Federation, Farengeto Trade Coalition and the French Colonial Empire who discussed the concerns of the increasing influence of the Cyrannian Empire's growing influence within the Universal Trade Union. Attending the summit as a guest of honour was Uriel Ultanos, who talked with businessmen and other dignitaries about setting up a free-trade zone within the Xonexi cluster. Talks of the idea persisted thoughout the summit, with dignitaries drawing up an initial draft of thee Gigaquadrantic Intergalactic Trade Organisation. In recognition of the influence of the Draconid Imperium's delegates on the Organisation's foundation, a headquarters was constructed on the commercial moon of Araveene.
Within its early inception its numbers were bolstered by new members such as the states of the Orion League, Farengeto Trade Coalition and the Katar Sector Alliance. Joint engineering projects between members facilitated the construction of an infrastructure network that linked up trade capitals and other commercial hubs across the First Gigaquadrant.
Infrastructure
GITO relies on a network of wormholes and FTL relays scattered across known space for lag-free realtime FTL communication between trading parties. Wormholes are used to link up designated trade capitals that serve as central hubs of commercial exchange for members. Trade capitals are categorically divided into galactic and regional trade capitals.

The centralised location of Araveene's solar system within the network of the major members made it an ideal location as the official central headquarters of the Organisation, and by virtue the leading stock market in regards to the facilitation of international trade.
Policies
The Gigaquadrantic Intergalactic Trade Organisation maintains a decentralised free trade policy amongst its member states and networks. Members are held responsible for upholding their own trading standards. There are occasions where members of the organisation gather to collectively determine the legality of certain products. Businessmen and merchants with credentials from member states and organisations are given free-travel privileges within the Gigaquadrantic Intergalactic Trade Organisation allowing them to more effectively facilitate commerce within the organisation's boundaries.
The Organisation is more than an economic alliance. Members also foster the promotion of large-scale development projects in order to improve local and galactic infrastructure in order to improve the quality of life of all under the organisation's influence. Members are also open to conducting joint research and development projects between institutions under the premise of mutual exchange.
