Useful for eradication missions, and far more useful than the common laser for destroying tribes and civilizations quickly, while the energy depletes slower. Players tend to use it against pirates, while it's known that Proton Missiles are better at punching small, weak, and rapidly swerving aircraft out of the sky. Using this on a Civilization stage planet allows you to almost instantaneously destroy anything they can throw at you, and once compared side by side to military aircraft lasers, gives you a feel of it's immense power, as compared to the Mega-laser Aircraft lasers are mere Laser pointers to a Industrial Cutting Beam.
