And so the planet was named H'rei Saeng - or Raysong in modern rendition - from the mantra of hope that had carried the blessed Void Divers from their ruined home to this new promised land: "Dynn'ad adorn sera, out delth'e kor binei. Cayl'aestra vina'e sa h'rei saeng." "Our home destroyed, we dive into the void. The star of hope guides us to the bright future."

- Metedarl historian Sebastian Delgard, Trails of Stardust: The 50 Year Journey of the Metedarl Void Divers

Raysong (Metedalic: H'rei Saeng "Bright Future") is a terrestrial planet orbiting the star Kylessa, a yellow main-sequence star in the Kylessan Star Cluster of the Janus Sector in the Bunsen Galaxy. A vibrant world characterized by rolling hills and wide open valleys and plains, Raysong is the adopted homeworld of the Kylessan Metedarl civilization and a key world of the Tybusen Intergalactic Allied Federation. Historically a center of trade and commerce in the post-Galactic Silence Janus Sector, Raysong has been a wealthy, influential world since its entry into the Kylessan interstellar community, and continues to be an important trade hub and commercial powerhouse in the modern Bunsen galactic network. With a strong financial sector and a wide-reaching cultural and media industry, Raysong is considered an iconic dream planet for aspiring young artists and entrepreneurs throughout the galaxy, with the planet sometimes nicknamed "The Promised Land" in acknowledgement of both its magnetic cultural pull and its role in Metedarl history.

Raysong was colonized by the Novaterrans early in the Old Powers Era, being called Ruhisa by the Novaterrans. Ruhisa became a major world for the Novaterrans with its lush pre-existing ecology attracting early colonists and later Novaterran expansion in the Kylessan Cluster making Ruhisa the prime hub of northern Novaterran space. The Ruhisa colony was left in ruins by the Great Cataclysm, and was abandoned along with every other major Novaterran world in the aftermath. Long after the remains of Ruhisa became buried in the earth, the planet was rediscovered and re-settled by a fleet of Metedarl refugees escaping the collapse of the old Metedarl Empire in the Metedarl-Grox War. With hard work, perseverance, and some help from the discovery of the buried ruins of Ruhisa, the Metedarl developed the planet, now called Raysong, into a world comparable to even the homeworlds of the older species of Kylessa and Upper Erion.

Raysong established itself as a political and economic center through Metedarl diplomacy and trade, becoming one of the most influential worlds in the Janus Sector at the time of the TIAF's founding in 270 SY. The growing influence and prosperity of the Federation propelled Raysong to even further heights than before, and while Tropicana would eclipse Raysong in the Golden Age of the Federation, Raysong would easily maintain a position as the second most powerful world in the Federation. Like many other major TIAF worlds, Raysong suffered at the hands of the wars of the Days of Darkness, enduring invasions, counter-invasions, and guerrilla resistance efforts before the end of the War of Redemption. Revitalization efforts would be interrupted by more attacks during the Second Bunsen War, but after the war, Raysong was able to return to its former peak and benefit greatly from the TIAF's entry into the Xonexi intergalactic network.
