SporeWiki:Requests for adminship

From SporeWiki, the knowledge base dedicated to Spore

SporeWiki is not currently in need of more admins. However, if you have proven yourself to be a valuable member of the community, and you think you're capable of doing the job, this is where to apply. Minimum requirements are:

  • Average or higher wiki editing knowledge.
This means you have to have contributed regularly to some wiki (not necessarily this one).
  • Having started to contribute on SporeWiki (edits in the content namespace are not taken too seriously).
  • Your first edit on SporeWiki should not be your application on this page.
  • Understandable, (almost 100%) correct English all the time.
  • If u talk liek this, ur not rdy 2 bcome admin
  • Playing the game is nice, since you'll be editing and making decisions based on the game's content.
  • Be able to expand articles to make them more useful for the community.
  • You should not copy articles from Wikipedia and paste them here.

Contents

  1. I'm likely to do this kinda thing anyway :-P
  2. I'm quite familiar with wiki syntax, as well as being quite familiar with editing processes from various wikis
  3. My work as a wiki editor is relatively well respected, having earned me nominations for a Hippo Award two years running- for either having invented or heavily contributing to a considerable amount of templates/processes in use on the SL Wiki
  4. I've also got a strong sense of ethics, which would be handy for mediating any editorial disputes.

Done. Your edits so far, as well as talking to you on irc convinced me. Image:CogHammer.gif Ose t/c 20:43, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lynncreed

I'd like to request a spot on the admin roster, at least until the wiki gets organised better. We have a page to itself for all the badges, and then we have individual badge pages, which are unnecessary. we even have a page for sticks, which can be thrown in game. it's a paragraph. that's ridiculous. I'd like to help get this thing organised. No, I don't own the game yet (building a computer that can handle it first) but I do own the guide and I think I can be helpful. check out Cell Phase. I think I did a pretty good job adding information to that. The Achievements page too. Not only that, but most of the admins we do have are inactive. No wonder the wiki is all jumbled! --Lynncreed 13:03, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Your edits seem good, but i'm going to suggest you make a few more edits before I promote you. Keep up the good work and you'll be an sysop soon. Oh, and I don't have the game either, so you're not alone :). Image:CogHammer.gif Ose t/c 19:05, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Cool. I'll keep editing then. Since I'm not a Sysop yet and can't do certain things, can I make suggestions for now instead? We have 2 articles concerning Cell phase, one called Tidepool Phase (I can't get it to come up from searching the wiki for some reason) and the other is Cell phase (or stage, something). We don't need two pages on the same topic. Can somebody make a redirect thing instead and delete Tidepool Phase? --Lynncreed 19:28, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to withdraw my application for now, as I can't be as active as I'd hoped. My birthday and two big trips are coming up, one of which is overseas, and I have classes and work besides that. After the holidays I'll probably have more time, at which point I'll re-apply. --Lynncreed 00:53, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

When/if you get back, feel free to move this back to open applications. Image:CogHammer.gif Ose t/c 19:06, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Morgoth1145

I guess I'll apply to become an admin here, as I feel I have started making a large contribution to the content, specifically with the Achievements page and its subsidiaries, and am checking the activity logs pretty much daily. The main thing I can think of that I would do with the few extra shiny buttons would be to delete the few spam articles that pop up every once in a while, as that seems to be the main problems that arise here. I could help reorganize other parts of the wiki as well.

If I am declined, I shall have no hard feelings, as most of what I could do as an admin I can already do as a normal user. morgoth t/C 02:01, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Done. You are already among the most active users of the wiki, and you have not been discouraged by the low activity of the other admins. Use your new powers visely. Image:CogHammer.gif Ose t/c 16:00, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] OluapPlayer

Hello there. I would like to be an admin too. I am very active on this wiki, and I am always doing stuff. I also helped with the expansion of some pages, like the images of the Achievements article, the information of the Sea Monster article, fixing the links for creatures in the taxonomy pages and spelling errors, and helping on the articles Grox, Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, and others. I want also to end this spam attacks with nonsense pages talking about random things. ME BANS PEOPLE!

I won't mind if I don't get the admin position. I really like this wiki and I wish luck to the people who get it. OluapPlayer 18:50 16 October 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to be an admin here, sure. I know a lot about fair punishment. Uhh...kind'a. I kind of go for the "Three strikes, and you're banned" method from when I was a Moderator, but not so much that it's a little harsh...I try to keep in touch the community, I revert vandalism. I use the word "I" a lot. What more is there that you got to have?

OK, OK...uhh...Well, I try to be as nice as possible. Really, I do! If you don't think so, you're ugly. I've written many articles, and have improved others too. My Wiki experience is pretty vast, I know a few coding tricks or two...So, what do you think?

Oh, of course Spore. I've been following Spore for nearly three years now...I think...and I know a lot about the stages, although Space stage would have to be my least knowledgeable. I'll make sure to find proof behind every myth or edit that may be false. So, yeah. CAFINATOR DO NOT CLICK HERE 19:31, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

You have not been active for a while. I can't promote someone who is not (currently) active. However, if/when you return to editing, feel free to poke me about processing your request. Image:CogHammer.gif Ose t/c 16:00, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] TimeMaster

I would like to apply to become a sysop on SporeWiki. I like this place, I am now very active on it. I help expanding, cleaning, and merging many pages, as well as adding images. I have a few articles inside the Taxonomy, and sometimes I put up a few of my creatures. I can quickly fly through an article and fix most, if not all spelling or grammatical and link errors. I like to work with the Planet & Surrounding Articles and also the Space stage and Civilization stage are one of my favorite articles, and I helped in that process. I don't want spam or vandalism here on this excellent wiki, there seems to be a lot of useless edits that IPs are making, and I would to have my rights raised to help me do that. I have noticed an increase in vandalism, and I would also like to help stop that (well now a decrease. . .). I'm also a very experienced user when playing Spore and writing about it on this Wikia. And, now I'm experienced with vandalism. I will try to do my best to block them and undo their edits. And, I have plenty of good contributions, and I am in fifth place for the most edits (which are at least 50% main namespace and more quality), if you include AdminBot and MorgothBot.

I am active on a lot of wikis.

SimCity (admin), Alternate History, Constructed Worlds, Maxis (admin), Reversopedia (admin), Un-Nintendo (admin), Nintendo, Super Smash Brothers, Expressions (founder), Spore Modding, Googology, Spore Fanfiction (admin), and I've done a couple edits on some others.

Thank-you very much. —Preceding signed comment added by TimeMaster (talkcontribs) 2:36, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HerbisoarEmpire

I would like to apply to become an admin on SporeWiki. I am very active on SporeWiki and edit almost every day. I am on several wikis and i have created five wikis and i am very active on all of them:

Maxis Wikia

Eugenides Wiki

Geobee Wiki

Social Sciences/Social Studies Wiki

Cartography Wikia

I am fourteenth in editing on SporeWiki, fourth in editing on the Logo Creation Wiki, and first in editing on the Templates Wikia.I am also a sysop and second in editing on the Global Geography Wiki.My edit count is 1,060 (100%) on all wikis.I have reverted edits of vandals before and I am familiar with creating templates, wiki markup ,and MediaWiki pages and do not spell liek tsih(like this), and any grammatical or character mistakes i make i almost always quickly fix. I have owned spore since last year and am very familiar with in-game play and the creators. I have created a few pages on SporeWiki Including, but not limited to:

Most of my templates i create on the Logo Creation Wiki, but i have created a few templates on SporeWiki-

I have had some help in creating these pages by TimeMaster, Wormulon and others, but i still am good at editing and can create efficient and informative pages. I am also active on the SporeWiki IRC and the Taxonomy Project.

I would like to be an admin, but being promoted to rollback would be good also,so i can be able to Rollback on vandalism, spam, etc. edits to help maintain the wiki. Thanks,-User:HerbisoarEmpireTalkContributions 01:53, 15 March 2009 (UTC)HerbisoarEmpire

[edit] Wormulon

- I would like to request adminship, I have edited on this wiki for a long time and come and edit often. I already have Rollback rights on this wiki and I am also a Sysop on Wormulon@Maxiswikia.

I am familiar with the wikitools, creating pages, adding templates, uploading images of my Spore creations and I am on the Taxonomy Project. I would like to become an admin because I edit alot here at this wiki, and it would be useful to have some more user rights.

Pages I have created

[edit] Timmyray1221

I would like to request to become a sysop on this Wikia. I have been obsessed with spore since Feb 2006 and have had it since the day it came out. I was the owner of a small time wiki that went down the drain, because it seems I was the only interested...

I have been on SporeWiki since 2007 making edits without an account.

All I do is edit this wiki all day lol.

Anyway, I would like to request to become a sysop to help delete pages and stop edit wars. Timmyray1221 13:14, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Poeringu

I wish I was an admin so that my name would be green like if it had eaten a broccoli souflé. Poeringu 14:39, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Stuart 98

I am starting to do a resonable amount of work on the wiki, and am currently trying to point out a unjust threat made by OluapPlayer on User talk:screeble. I would only use admin powers as a last resort on a problem, trying every thing else. I will always fix a vandal A.S.A.P. And Poeringu, why don't you just ask an admin to make you green? Because it Is a lousy reason to want to be an admin, you know? (no offence). My feelings are summed up to this: I WILL BE A GREAT ADMIN. robostuart@gmail.com 04:56, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] User:Monster2821

I have made a lot of contributions, just look under my contributions. I will still help out a lot. —This comment was added by Monster2821 (TalkContributionsE-mail).

[edit] PepterPepper

I am active alot, almost on every day! I don't edit alot, for I don't see many things to edit! But I have good spelling and computer skills, so that'll help! If I do become an admin, I'll do my best! PepterPepper 02:00, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
