[edit] Added stuff

I added the stub section to be exanded. The stub sorting needed, and the need to wikify a few pages. Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 22:40, 1 February 2006 (PST)

[edit] Making New Articles

I'm having trouble making a new article in that, well I can't. In other Wikis the way I'd end up doing it would be by typing it into search and clicking the "Make this article" button. (Only becuase i haven't come across the other ways) There doesn't seem to be any instruction here on making new ones though no matter what way you do.--Sgore 13:10, 8 February 2006 (PST)

Well you can type it into the search and click the "this exact title" link to make that article, OR, you should do it the right way (to avoid orphaned pages) and find an article that it belongs in, and write about it and put the name in double brackets [[Like this]] then when you save that article you can click the newly made red link to create your page. We have plenty of orphan pages already that I"m trying to clean up, so if you can do it that way it'd be easier, but if not, feel free to just do it via the search function, and the "this exact title" link. [edit] Deletion

If you're going to delete something, check to see if a merge or speculation tag would work better. For example, before they were confirmed as part of the game, the tribal stage editors would have been deleted.

When I'm doing it I only delete things that really don't even seem possible to be in the game. But the beutiful part about a wiki is that if something like that does end up happening, like the space station thing you put up for deleting, we can just go back and change it. We're looking for the balance between making things clean now, but not giving ourselves a whole bunch of trouble undoing deletes if we end up being wrong. Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 16:18, 8 February 2006 (PST)

Well we unbroke the 200 mark. But better 199 good articles then 1,000,000 Junkishly made up ones.--Sgore

I huge part of that is because I reduced a huge chunk of the creature stage articles into 4 seperate articles which have something and will have much more. And the num of articles doesn't count redirects, which most of those became, and most were things like "Mammals" or things like that. So our content is the same as it was, it's just in one page instead of 10 sentences on different pages. Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 16:24, 8 February 2006 (PST)

[edit] Image Categories

I think it would make it easier for future checks to date when the new images were last updated. It's a bit tedious to open each page when comparing dates is quicker. If it's not a good idea, you can delete. -Yossitaru 19:07, 16 March 2006 (PST)

Considering I've done it 4 times already and didn't think of that, I feel a little stupid, good idea. :) Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 19:59, 16 March 2006 (PST)

[edit] wtf

I'm not about to revert it, but what the heck went on? THe problem is they added information yet just royaly messed the design. Zorlac

Looking at the history; it looks like harmful deletions were made. and they were random mid-sentence deletions, a revert should be in order. - Yossitaru 00:22, 20 May 2006 (PDT)
Oh whoops. Maybe i was comparing the wrong things, it almost looked as if they added info to me but messed it up. I probably compared their first and last edits or something XD. Zorlac

Ours is Portal, also, but the nav link is wrong, let me fix it... -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions - E-mail) 20:50, 1 June 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Question about moves and delete

Lets say there we move article "Some Article" to "Some article", should the original article be deleted (after all links to that page has been resolved ofcoarse)? - Drin 14:54, 4 June 2006 (PDT)

I don't think so, having excess redirects makes it much easier to use the search, after all what if someone types "Some Article" into the search? Wouldn't it be best if they go straight to "Some article" then to a search page that lists "Some article" among others? -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions - E-mail) 15:06, 4 June 2006 (PDT)
In that case should we promote the creaton of such redirects to pages that don't have them.. that is create "Some Article" when it don't exist? eather way I would like there to be a consistent way for things to move towards, not just randomness depending on how it was created. - Drin 16:25, 4 June 2006 (PDT)
Well, in general, when I create an article (although most of the things I make aren't actually "Spore" articles, so it's not that often), I think of what someone looking for that article would type into the search box to find it, and I make those articles redirect to mine, I think it's a good plan and should be done whenever possible. Common typo redirects are fine too. I'm promoting it in that way, but editors don't have to do that, it's just my style and I think it's useful. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions - E-mail) 17:13, 4 June 2006 (PDT)
Also, feel free to remove a page's content and turn it into a redirect if you've created a page with the correct capitalisation, or done something else which amounts to a page move. Saves on duplicate pages that way, and cuts down our database and bandwidth usage. --Daxx (T C) 17:37, 4 June 2006 (PDT)

[edit] For those looking for something to do

I set up a nice automated listing of all the pages that could use a hand if you want to check it out lol. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions - E-mail) 22:24, 8 June 2006 (PDT)

[edit] SporeWiki:Chat

I'm requesting a link to SporeWiki:Chat be put somewhere on the Community Portal page. Torvik 13:33, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

I put it on the main page, but that's definitly a good idea. The commmunity portal page isn't locked so feel free to put it in somewhere that will be seen and not disrupt the page too much. -- Mason11987 (T - C - E) 14:46, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
I don't have a clue how to make it look good. It's on there, but it DEFINITELY needs improvement. Torvik 19:21, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
I basically moved sections around and picked a new color. Maybe zorlac can find us an icon for it. -- Mason11987 (T - C - E) 19:29, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

[edit] my various jobs i will do
