Storybook planet

From SporeWiki, the knowledge base dedicated to Spore

(Redirected from Storybook Planets)

Storybook planets are planets that have been molded to look like things. Storybook planets seem to be placed randomly in a players game (it can even be your own home planet) so, unlike Sol, no coordinates can be given to lead you to them. However Crab Legs was found by following the coordinates given in this research page Storybook planet search, research is currently being performed to try to determine if this is the same for multiple games or a coincidence.

There may be more than one of each storybook planet. If there were only one of each, distributed randomly around the galaxy, the odds of finding one are 10 in X (the number of planets). Supposing the average star has 2 planets, and there are 100,000 stars (conservative estimates), that would mean you'd likely have found your first one after visiting 20,000 planets. Experience tells us this far from the case. If storybook planets are placed as you visit stars for the first time, rather than in locations pre-determined by your game, there may only be one of each, but then the probability of finding one is determined by some other in-game variable. Measuring this would mean recording the total number of planets visited and number of storybook planets discovered.

Storybook planets do not display beige "rare" signals in solar system view. You must visit the planet to find out if it is a storybook planet; if so, you will receive the message as soon as you are planetside.
