Hacking?[]

So basicly, it's just hacking. Right? 72.35.124.40 02:33, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

No..."hacking" would be stuff like cracking the game so that it wouldn't need to be bought. That's not even real hacking. Real hacking involves unauthorized access to other people's computers. This is modding. Modifying. morgoth t/C 20:53, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Actualy, acording to my book, that would be called cracking, not hacking. But these mods are not hacks. A spore hack is a change in game code that is made while the game is running. A spore mod is something that is put in a spore folder (data or main), and if the game is running, will not activate until the next time the game is run. A hack will disapear the next time you run spore, but a mod will stay as long you don't move it. Stuart98 15:29, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
Notice how hacking was in quotes? And I said later on that cracking isn't real hacking. But cracking's a lot closer to hacking than modding is. morgoth t/C 16:58, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

Where do I put the mod files in the Mac version? 143.254.214.210 21:57, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind, I found it myself and put it in. 76.191.199.100 23:41, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Global impact[]

I think this page should also let people know what modding will do to the game in a global sense. Will using mods break my ability to get achievements? Make an instant Joker badge? How about sugarless Twinkies? These are important questions! I'd add their answers to the page if I had the answers. The truth is out there. Rico the Spirited 19:28, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't appear to prevent achievements.

Mods Not Working[]

Umm is it just my game, or are most the Mods dead. Like the new Patch blocked most of them. Cause out of all the ones I downloaded (maybe 4 or 5) only 1 works. If they are blocked there will be a sign on the page I guess. CryoZero 03:55, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Many of the mods before the 3rd patch (1.03) do not work, to see the complete list of mods which are catagorized into before 1.03 and after 1.03 go here: http://www.sporemods.org/forum/index.php/topic,284.0.html BalLightning 11:56, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

None of my mods work I put them in the bit where it listed in the article and still nothing? Do you have to make a new save game?--Technobliterator 20:03, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

Legal?[]

are these things legal, i know with most games Mods will void warenties or something like that.

I think the only mod that can be called "legal" is the Expanded Travel Radius, since it was made by EA. OluapPlayer 15:36, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Uh, it's not like they made it hard to mod Spore, all you do is put a file in folder. It's like custom maps on Warcraft 3, just without a built-in editor. And even if it voids a warranty, it's not illegal. morgoth t/C 20:53, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I looked on some websites and it said that Maxis did not mind the modding community. 71.120.42.89 04:33, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Dullstar

Slave mod idea[]

I just came up with a new mod idea. My idea is a new type of civ. Slave civ archtype. In this archetype, vehicles go aruond capturing creatures, tribesmen, and citisens, and when they are deposited at the city, they act like members. This archtype benifits in more hardworking people in factories, giving more income, and more people to dive vehicles. A vinilla city only has three people wandering of the player's species wandering: one of them being the central guy, the other ones being whipsmen. Everybody else in the city are slaves. The central person only goes to his city hall. Houses are replaced with lesser slave quarters. When more slaves are added, there's a 75-25 that the new slave will increase happiness by entertaining the central guy, or increase work by working in factories. Activities would be: Entertainment slave's activities would include: rubbing, dancing, and being tortured by whippers for the central guy. Whippers would be whipping factory slaves. 1 rouge would be kept outside the city, and at random times and happening to random slaves, whippers would throw a slave to the rouge. The player will get of to choose three species of slaves that will appear in his city when he starts it. Five of each species will appear. The disadvantage to this type is the more factory slaves you have, the less happy your city will get. There will always be at least one entertainment slave with a chain around his/her neck, which is tied to a portable throne, on which the central guy is. The throne is carried by random factory slaves.robostuart@gmail.com 03:10, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Still no one has commented?!? Not anyone!?! Comment people! Stuart98 15:35, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
Article talk pages are for discussing improvements to the article... CogHammer Ose t/c 15:47, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
You could make your own user blog about this if you'd like. But it is cool, though maybe having three of your own species would make your city EXTREMELY prone to revolt and then your civ would basically die. —Preceding signed comment added by TimeMaster (talkcontribs) 00:46, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Your mod idea is impossible unfortunately we just don't have the software needed to do it.Ace45954 01:14, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

Dead links...[]

SporeMods.org collapsed earlier this year, so most of these links are dead... Shouldn't we just delete them? 76.191.199.205 01:28, December 19, 2009 (UTC)

Dark Injection Q's[]

Hello! I'm a relatively inactive user that sort of hasn't even joined the wikia but has been reading it for years. And I mean years. Anyways, I've been trying to get the Dark Injection Mod for a while. Unfortunately, the website www.davoonline.com or whatever never seems to come on properly. As in, it doesn't come on at all. But that could just be my internet's problems. Also, I heard someone mention needing to have all the patches of Spore to get the mod. Is that true? Thanks!

P.S. How do I get this font to be normal?

--Wickle Fwickle (talk) 14:42, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

Aw man, no one answered? --Wickle Fwickle (talk) 12:36, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
This is irksome. --Wickle Fwickle (talk) 07:42, November 10, 2012 (UTC)

Dark Injection Genetic Modifier[]

Platnium Spore Creature Continetal Migration Accident[]

In Platium Spore i used my Lightning Charge at a creature But also accidently hit jump at the same time. This cause my spore creature to rise radically into the atomsphere i then used my flight just a bit and found myself literily in orbit around the planet. It was Amazing the only way to get down was through a mating call and i landed on another continent. Their were no other creatures and just a lot of plants. Being a Herbivore that was Awesome but then my entire species moved its nest to my postion. Either an amazing glitch or a possible advantage. Suggest for you to try it.

PlatinumSpore[]

Do I need any patches to Spore in order to download PlatinumSpore? I have GA and I'm afraid it'll break my game if I had downloaded these in the wrong order. This happened to me on my old computer when I downloaded GA and BetterSpore in the wrong order, thus wreaking my game permanently.

PS: How do I tell what patch of Spore I have? Because I don't know which one I own ThaChompyLeader (talk) 23:57, September 11, 2014 (UTC)ThaChompyLeader

Adf.ly[]

The use of these links seems unethical. This page is also rife with really bad formatting. To clarify, the obvious work around is to link to the mods' main distribution sites, rather than to the adfly pages. Using a wiki for free ad revenue is wrong. Jeffman12 (talk) 04:48, December 30, 2014 (UTC)
