The Tick was a creature created in 2005 by Will Wright.
This creature possesses a sturdy, dark colored exoskeleton with blunt knobs on its back, a radial mouth, a set of five eyes and long claws for catching prey. Ticks seem to be poorly adapted to hunting fast creatures such as the Willosaur, which escaped with normal speed from a hungry Tick in the GDC 2005 presentation, so they probably preferred to feed on the slower Tamaranian Hoppers.
Later it is revealed that, despite their role and size, Ticks were very common in Tamaran; Will Wright's UFO has found a huge pack of Ticks being chased by an enemy tank, and even abducted one member of the pack. On Frore, a barren world of the same system, the abducted Tick was dropped as an experiment to see the effects of the absence of atmosphere on a living being. The Tick exploded in a mist of pinkish blood and various limbs fell back to the ground due to very explosive decompression. That was the last time in which a Tick was seen, and even in Spore's trailer no such creature appeared.

- Tick's feet bear a resemblance to the Scarmaker feet, only without the spike features.
- They have a resemblance to Insectrox; the captain creature from Galactic Adventures.
- A majority of fans nicknamed this creature as "Splodey", referencing when it exploded after being dropped on Frore.
