[edit] Welcome
Welcome to SporeWiki. If you like, you can introduce yourself in the Welcome room. If you have any questions you can contact me through my talk page. If you need help editing, check the editing article and the Help Desk. If you have particular questions about Spore that you can't find in an article there, come down to the SporeWiki:Questions Department and we'll do what we can to get your answer. Alternatively, you could check out the SporeWiki IRC channel. Feel free to delete this messsege from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Richard 20:05, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] SporeWiki:Taxonomy
Welcome to the project! I see you have already started on some of the best classifications I've seen here, but I've noticed a couple of things--
- 1. Make sure that the species is attributed to the person who first described the species (whoever created the article). You can find that on the history page. Also, make sure it's their last name, when possible. Here's the format I use:
- For a species by Jellybean123, you can type {{ta|Jellybean123|2008}}, since that user has no specified last name. However for users like Meh 64 12, do it like this: ([[User:Meh 64 12|12]], 2006), so that only the last name is displayed.
- 2. Epithets are always lowercase.
- 3. Genera and species are always italicized.
Other than what I've mentioned above, you're doing an excellent job! Thanks for your contributions. Schnautzr 14:56, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Images
Hey, you're becoming a valuable taxonomist to have around! In order to help make sure SporeWiki maintains quality creature content articles, would you mind making sure each organism you classify has an image uploaded? You can find the image to upload by visiting the creature's page on Sporepedia (in the infobox on SporeWiki, click the name of the organism), and be sure to upload the LARGE image. Then, add the image to the infobox. In the "creature" template, this field is called "image", and in the "creation" template, it's called "large". Thanks! Schnautzr 20:15, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
