[edit] Question About Concept/In-Game Content Pages

I have a question that I just noticed - both conceptual and in-game pages have "Content:CreatureName" as the page to create. So, when you have a concept creature already added and wish to add another page for its in-game appearance, what do you do? Is this an error or will the pages really not "overwrite" each other? I had gone in to make the in-game page for my Azghora, but when clicking it, it states the page already exists, yet asks if I wish to continue to create the new page. Hi Mason!

I see that you spoke with Angie several months ago. I work with Angie on the Wikia Gaming team. I'd like to run a simple contest for the wiki just to encourage people to participate and make sure that they know about the site. I have a copy of Spore Creature Creator signed by Will Wright, along with a few other prizes, that I plan to give away. I was thinking about doing something simple such as having a contest to see who can create the best creature (judged by the Wikia Staff), or something of that nature. Do you think people would have fun with that? Are you active in any other Spore-related communities that might find such a giveaway interesting?

Let me know what you think. I'd like to get this off the ground as soon as possible because buzz about Spore Creature Creator is still pretty strong.

Heya! I just updated the contest page. I also moved it out of the main namespace to keep that clean (but left the redirect there). I am curious...what is a sysop, anyways, and what do they actually do? Well, I'm actually a Bureaucrat, and a Sysop. Sysops have the ability to ban users or IP address ranges, to semi-protect pages (so only registered users can edit them) to protect pages (so only sysops or above can edit them), to delete pages (so only sysops can see them), and to undelete pages. They can also edit in the MediaWiki: namespace (Like the Talk:, SporeWiki:, and User: namespaces) which are basically all protected indefinitely by default (site layout, ect.).

Bureaucrats can make and unmake sysops and label accounts as "bots"

Bots can make edits that don't normally appear on the Recent Changes list.

Um Hello, I recently joined Spore Wikia and I have been editing pages, adding in-game descriptions of some of the tools and I was wondering if you were having any problems with the Spore database.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but it seems that I can't publish any creation properly since last week. What happens is that after I click the publish button it sort of loads for a long time then a notice comes up saying "Creation not published successfully" or something. Then when I log out of the game and log back in, it's published.

I was wondering if you had the same problem and if you know how I could fix it.

[edit] A quick proposal on the Shiptool template

It seems that prices on items for the Wanderer are the same as the Diplomat, and the Knight are the same as the Warrior.

So I propose that we eliminate the Wanderer_Empire_Cost and Knight_Empire_Cost from the template.

I've filled out all the pricing for all items (with two exceptions -- I got greedy and bought Super Happy Ray without confirming the cost for the Shamen and Diplomat). All the pricing is done for all the items that use this template, and the Knight and Wanderer Empires were not used.

I'd further like to propose that instead of:

Your Empire : §100,000

Warrior Empire : §50,000

Shaman Empire : §50,000

Diplomat Empire : §60,000

Zealot Empire : §50,000

which is what we see when the template is processed, I'd like to see:

Your Empire : §100,000

Warrior or Knight Empire : §50,000

Shaman Empire : §50,000

Diplomat or Wanderer Empire : §60,000

Zealot Empire : §50,000

Chris, we got Will Wright to agree to run an interview on the Spore Wiki! How great is that!! So, we'll run a 2 week event asking the community to submit questions, which we will then submit to Will. We are planning to launch a landing page this week where Spore wiki user's can ask all the questions their lovable user-generated hearts desire, and after 2 weeks of gathering questions, we will grab 20 or so to ask the big man himself! I read your graceous comment on the Hydera concept but today I find it has been deleted, and I can't find any comment on why that occurred. I loathe the current state of wiki - it is an intransparant and deeply user unfriendly system, so I do not have clear oversight. Could you please address this?
