[edit] deletion of patch articles and Patches

I'd be against deleting the individual articles, as compositing them into Patches would result in Patches becoming unnecessarily long over the lifetime of Spore.

If Patches were to exist at all, it should be as a summary of the patch notes themselves, and not as a monolithic archive.

Hello Morgoth1145. Not long ago you told me that all the acheivement pages followed a layout and had a "template" at the bottom. You saw that I didn't include this. [edit] re: New Tool Pages

The templates require a copy of the icon associated with the ship ability in question- preferably in SVG, since editing out text on a low resolution PNG/JPEG doesn't look as crisp.

Then some CSS geekery is employed. The template code is relatively simple, the CSS positioning of the text is also simple- just a case of trial and error to position things correctly.

The problem lies in my personal preference to use make use of SVG images to produce the highest quality result possible, and that process takes more time than I'm comfortable with doing right now.

The CSS is fairly trivial- as I said, it's just trial and error to position things correctly.
As for creating SVGs, admittedly I do things a little more complicated than they need to be (largely hand-coding the document, for one thing), though I would recommend checking out Inkscape if you ever want to try a software-driven method.

[edit] Rising Star/Screen Names

When you login and go to your Spore Profile, look at the top of your page. You should see 3 links, "Profile", "Manage Comments", and "Manage Spore Screen Names". Click on "Manage Spore Screen Names". Here you will see everything you need to know. Here you can create 4 other screen names by just typing in the desired name. Then, in these new accounts, subscribe to the same 10 Sporecasts that you have asked your friends to subscribe to (Supposing you know anyone that has Spore. I have 4 people, so hopefully I will have this soon.) If you still have a problem let me know either on my page or on the Rising Star discussion page. Zagorian 02:46, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Forteto:I found what you were talking about. Its probally good to delete the Alpha Creature page, but keep the Cheiftein page, because it has links to other pages such as the Cheiften consequense abilitys. Also if you have any time could you do a firebomb article? (Cheiftein consequense) Their is currently no such page and we have pages on the rest of the consewuences.

Indeed, you're right, the hut is abandoned, as is all else. Spore crashes too often for me, so I have moved on. I might update it sometime, but the sheer difference between all my creations and the parts I can use to make 'em is too great and really killed the project. But they still have biological parts, and they do not replace the rest of their bodies with cyborg parts, so they are obviously aware of their normal parts and the Grox, being a logical race, will not make references that suggest that they do not have biological parts. Sorry about the mixup. This is actually the first wiki I've ever edited aside from a few spelling/grammar edits on Wiki, so I'm not totally aware of the procedures around here, or the commands and features of the wiki, although I'm trying to get a grip as quickly as I can. As for moving the article to, say, Creature:Mikargose, or Creature:that_big_red_thing, the reason I thought just to do a redirect was because the creature wasn't linked anywhere besides the taxonomy page, where it showed the taxonomic name. It seemed kinda useless to move the page from what its only linked called it to something mentioned only in the article. Although if you have a better reason why it should be moved to the 'casual name,' I'd love to hear you out. Again, sorry for all the trouble. Remaxwell 17:10, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I'm sorry to bother you, but since you seem to be going around cleaning up the creature pages, I figured you'd be the person to ask: on the create creature infobox screen, where you have the various fields (name, personality, who classified it, etc.). My question relates to the family and genus fields (or whatever two taxonomy fields there are there): whenever I have any input there, a whole big field of redlinks that stretches the page way down pops up. The only way I've figured out how to keep that from coming up is just to leave it blank. Any idea what that's about/what I'm doing wrong? Remaxwell 16:36, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

  • No, that doesn't seem to be it. The infobox seems intent on putting down the creatures kingdom, phylum, etc.. whereas the infobox template fields only have a field for family and genus. Let's take the 'creature' I tried it with, the plant Leafsicus, family Rhizophoraceae, genus Rhizophora. I've tried putting in both Taxon:Rhizophoraceae and Taxon:Rhizophora as well as just leaving the "Taxon:" bit out. (They shouldn't be excluded from the taxon namespace, since I created them yesterday.) I suppose in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, since you can just paste in a taxon tree. While we're on the subject, the few plants that do exist (I think one or two before I started trying to put a dent in plant taxonomy) are labeled Content:X, X being the name of the plant. Do you want me to move them all to Flora:X? Remaxwell 16:36, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
    • Ok, done. I've also changed all the pages that link to them link to the new Flora namespace version, but the Content pages still exists as redirects since I can't do any deletes. If you want to delete them, they're:

On the Grox history article, one of the revisions suggests I added the "Funny Grox stuff" headline. The history page states it is me, but I didn't do it. I undid a revision at 12:53, at the same time the other "Funny Grox stuff" revision was added, at 12:53. It must be a glitch. I certainly wasn't vandalising!
