Beautiful, isn't she?
"Not exactly the word I would use."
"It's the most powerful weapon ever conceived in the galaxy's modern history...''

- Majestic Agent Leucothea and President Apollo during the Second War of Black Fog, 03 BNE

The Cyrannic Imperial Battlestation, previously known as, and codenamed Terminus, was a vast megastructure which began construction by the enigmatic organisation known as Majestic shortly before the end of the Intergalactic War, ostensibly under the commission of the government of the United Republic of Cyrannus. Though constructed by Majestic, the Battlestation was largely the brainchild of the future Emperor Tyrómairon himself, infusing Oikoumene technology into what became unquestionably the most powerful weapon in the Cyrannus Galaxy.

The Station was secretly constructed in the Outer Rim by Majestic and was only revealed to President Apollo when the need for the weapon revealed itself during the Second War of Black Fog, when it was used to destroy the vast demonic entity known as Okastana. After the incident, the station once again returned to the shadows though Tyrómairon occasionally visited his creation throughout the remainder of the Great Cyrannus War. After the war ended with the rise of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, Terminus was officially renamed the Cyrannic Imperial Battlestation and was placed under the command of Grand Mandator Vosætiur, who first revealed the Battlestation to the Gigaquadrant when it was used to destroy the Corruptus Overworld Brezank during the Cataclysm in the Neutral Zone.

The station quickly became the most infamous instrument of Imperial might, being utilised to destroy the Capricorn Remnant Alliance and the New Republic capital of Mou'Cyran at the beginning of the Second Great Cyrannus War. The station was the target of a bold counterattack by the Grand Republic Fleet under the command of Admiral Willelmus Cretacea, at the Battle of Cadian. The station, and all those upon it, were destroyed during the battle.

There is no way I can approve of such a weapon without the Senate and the people's approval.
"Mr. President, we will use this weapon against this new threat if the need arises. When survival is at state, ethics are thrown out the window.''

- Apollo and Agent Leucothea, the latter revealing the existence of Terminus for the first time to the President.

The origins of the Terminus Battlestation lie primarily in the events of the Intergalactic War, a devastating conflict which saw the Cognatus Alliance wage holy war on the forces of the United Republic of Cyrannus, the Delpha Coalition of Planets, Rambo Nation and a myriad of other civilisations throughout the First Gigaquadrant. The heavy allied causalities during the mission prompted the clandestine organisation known as Majestic to ostensibly seek approval from the President of the Republic to begin the construction of a battlestation which could be used to great effect to end the war. However, the station was not yet half-built when the main Cognatus Battlefleet mysteriously disappeared through an Oikoumene portal discovered on Capricaerón. Nevertheless, though one would expect the Battlestation to cease construction, Majestic continued to form the station, under the direction of the mysterious Tyrómairon, who was beginning to sculpt events behind the scenes to prepare for the inevitable rise of a New Order.

By the time the Great Cyrannus War began, Terminus was nearing completion deep in the unexplored reaches of the northern Outer Rim far from the nearest pocket of Confederate space. Majestic went to great trouble preventing the higher officials of the Republic government from learning of the existence of the hyperweapon, though when the Corruptus Intrusion began, the involvement of Terminus was seen as necessary, particularly after the destruction of the Republic world Constantipolos by the Corruptus entity Okastana.

Informing President Apollo of the continued existence of the Terminus Station, Majestic Agent Leucothea brought the President to the top-secret location of the station, managing to convince him that the weapon was needed to halt the invasion of Cyrannus. On board the station, Leucothea brought Apollo to the command bridge while ordering the crew to bring the massive planetoid to the Puria System, the home of the Ermitant and the focal point of the demonic invasion. Though apprehensive of the repercussions of such a powerful weapon, Apollo ordered the station to fire its superlaser at Okastana, utterly annihilating the demonic menace and spelling the end of the demonic invasion. However, the arrival of the Arrtkar Crowart to the station severely damaged it to the point that only the timely arrival of the station's mysterious overlord saved the besieged superweapon.

After the events at Puria, the station returned to the Outer Rim, with Apollo and the rest of the Republic remaining in the dark about its whereabouts. However, Terminus continued to be updated with ever more advanced technology and defences.

Imperial Battlestation[]

Attention, allied vessels. This is Grand Mandator Taev Vosaetiur of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus. We are victorious this day. You have fought valiantly, though we shall take it from here. Divert all ships to beyond a standard light-year of this... monstrosity and behold the firepower of the Cyrannic Imperial Battlestation. It has seen battle with the Corruptus many years ago and I deresay it is fitting retribution against any who would violate our space.

- Grand Mandator Taev Vosaetiur upon arriving to Brezank during the Neutral Zone Cataclysm on-board the Station.

After the Great Cyrannus War ended with the sudden rise of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus with Emperor Tyrómairon, Majestic willingly handed control over the Terminus Battlestation to the Empire in exchange for Majestic operations going investigated by the prying eyes of Imperial Intelligence. Terminus was thus moved to a discreet location in the Imperavelli System, where new technologies were added at the behest of Mandator Taev Vosaetiur, who was personally selected by the Emperor to oversee the continued construction of improvements to the Battlestation. Throughout the Dark Times, the Battlestation remained but a faint whisper of dread to rebel forces with the existence of it being unknown even to the Grand Admirals of the Imperial Navy.

However, when the New Cyrandia Wars began, the new rechristened Cyrannic Imperial Battlestation was in the final preparations for full combat readiness. The first appearance of the superweapon occurred during the Cataclysm in the Neutral Zone, during which the weapon under Voseatiur's command arrived to annihilate the demon world. The arrival of the weapon came as a complete shock to both the allied and Imperial forces present at the battle, with news of the hyperweapon spreading like wildfire across the gigaquadrant, with some heralding it as a destroyer of demons while others seriously questioning the Empire's less savoury motives with such a weapon.

Under Voseatiur's command, the Imperial Battlestation played a key role in liberating Imperial worlds formerly conquered by Zillum and Tyrant during the Wars, including the Saurornithanta homeworld of Carinateron and later in the campaign, the Mortalitas homeworld Moreuse. The use of the weapon in this conflict ultimately resulted in the near-complete defeat of the Imperial State in the northern sectors of the Outer Rim, which is where the rebel group had been most successful. After the end of the New Cyrandia Wars, the station was equipped with a new exalaser capable of destroying entire systems from across the galaxy—the first of which was the home system of the rebellious Capricorn Remnant Alliance.

Destruction[]

Battle of Cadian SGCW

The Republic and Imperial fleet battle above the Battlestation.

We're going to blow that monstrosity off the face of the galaxy with the fury of the gods.

- President Apollo

At the end of the Cold War, Vosaetiur's "Operation" was approved by the Emperor. While positioned near the Cadian system in the Outer Rim, the Battlestation fired its primary weapon. Accelerating exponentially at an incredible velocity, the blast of phantom dark energy erupted through the cosmos, blasting a hole through hyperspace as it followed along a seemingly endless, though perfectly liner path of egress, eventually impacting against the New Republic capital of Mou'Cyran, utterly destroying it. Filled with ego and overconfidence, Vosaetiur set about targeting the interim Republic capital Capricaerón, only for his efforts to be interrupted by a Republic counterattack.

As Fleet Admiral Willelmus Cretacea's fleet engaged the Battlestation's defence fleet, the crew of the Auethnen Raptor planted explosives on the primary lithium ion oscillator, before making their escape. Simultaneously, the Republic fleet continued to distract the unsuspecting Imperials in orbit, commanded by Vosaetiur from the Battlestation's overbridge. Vosaetiur ordered the Battlestation's primary weapon to be recharged and directed toward Capricaerón and the fleets engaged in battle above the station, in spite of protestations from Grand Mandator Deoclet Caesarius. When the weapon began to fire, Kara Inviá detonated the charges, which, when coupled with the damage caused by the interdiction waves generated by the Republic Phoenix-class supercarriers, caused the beam to fire in on itself, destroying the station.

BattlestationSurface

The surface of the Battlestation.

This is Terminus. It measures 1,500 kilometres in diameter and is equipped with a superlaser capable of destroying an entire planet in the blink of an eye.
"So it's basically a Planet Buster?"
"Hardly. Planet Busters bounce harmlessly off even the most primitive planetary shielding. Terminus is capable of bypassing shielding even on the level of Orbispira. And that's on 50% capacity.''

- Agent Leucothea speaks with Apollo about the capabilities of Terminus' primary weapon system, then known as the superlaser but which was since renamed the exalaser.

The Cyrannic Imperial Battlestation represented the known pinnacle of Imperial weapon and defensive technology, utilising and upscaling weaponry and technology already implemented on the gargantuan Nemesis-class Super Star Dreadnought, including rapid-fire superlasers, matter cannons and displacement cannons designed to repel any potential enemy fleet. However, it was the devastating Exalaser which gaves Terminus its fearsome reputation. Though planet-destroying weapons are not new inventions, or indeed star-destroying weapons, the Exalaser had varying firing strengths capable of tearing vast chunks of realspace apart, obliterating worlds and stellar objects equipped even with the most powerful non-phasic shielding. Though the Exalaser had only been tested twice within planetary systems, it has an effective range over a vast interstellar distances. This weapon system of the Imperial Battlestation harnessed the unlimited potential of dark energy to reap untold destruction on the Empire's enemies.

Within the station's cavernous core, a powerful containment field contained enough power to store vast quantities of dark energy, which when released formed a beam of phantom energy capable of travelling a theoretically infinite distance until it was intercepted by an object of a mass sufficient, or more specifically, the intended target. This weapon system replaced the considerably less powerful hyperlaser developed by Majestic and thus remained a secret to all but the highest ranking members of the Empire's hierarchy. Indeed, it was believed that the primary weapon was based on ancient Oikoumene technology, though not through discovery of an ancient artefact, but rather devised by the Oikoumene Emperor himself. Equipped with the hyperspatial capabilities of hypermatter and vortex torpedoes, the superweapon was also equipped with tens of thousands of turbolaser cannons, vorton projectors, soliton weapons and various other weapons of war cementing the Battlestation's place as a technological and psychological weapon in equal measure.

Mou'Cyran Cataclysm

The phantom dark energy unleashed by the Battlestation from across the galaxy hits Mou'Cyran.

However, like any weapon the Battlestation was not invulnerable. During the Corruptus Intrusion during the Great Cyrannus War, the weapon came under heavy damage internally while New Republic Intelligence believes that through superior tactics, the Station is far from invulnerable, as was ultimately proven during the Battle of Cadian.

Crew[]

A vast station almost the size of a small planet, the Cyrannic Imperial Battlestation was far from the largest Imperial megastructure, though it was arguably the most militarised. Nearly half-a-million people directly worked on the Station, including gunners, the command crew and providers of amenities while many more lived on the station, whether they be civilians or foreign diplomats. However, most the internal systems on the Station were operated by hyperadvanced artificial technologies while robotic droids performed much of the less savoury aspects of maintaining such a vast station. The station was officially under the command of Grand Mandator Vosætiur, though he was often content to leave directly control of the station to elements of the Imperial Navy, Army and Intelligence which happened to coordinate the forces present on the station. The station plays host to a constant Imperial fleet made up primarily of Praetor-class Star Dreadnoughts, Harrower-class Star Destroyers and Imperator-class Star Destroyers, the crews of which often visited the Imperial Battlestation on shore leave. Indeed, though heavily militarised the Imperial Battlestation also included luxurious cities made up of parks, zoos, museums and various other amenities designed to foster a positive morale amongst the crew.

Quotes[]

We believed Angforst was powerful, but Terminus surpasses even Atlantica and Oikoumene destructive power!

- Kendar Bozzel

We praise the Capricyránae, for their progress towards unification. We praise the Capricyránae, for their safe transition from dis-unified councils to centralised order. A magnificent demonstration of Capricyránae ingenuity and a token to their industrial might.

- Delpha Coalition of Planets anti-democratic propaganda

The expert in battle seeks his victory from strategic advantage. Victorious warriors win first and then go to war.

- Executor Venoriel on superweapon use in warfare

I will be the first to admit I am somewhat jealous.

- Kralgon Emperor

dats no moon. dats a space stashon. MAN I SWER YOO GEEZAS IS BLIND

- Fre'kloar

I will not deny that Terminus is what we needed when we needed it, but I fear for what the Empire will do with such a weapon. Surely their massive Star Destroyers are enough to maintain their own particular brand of order.

- Apollo

It is a symbol of Imperial majesty and justice, inviolable in its will and unforgiving in its retribution.

- Gaius Prentus

The Grand Mandator's station is folly. Wars should be won through tactics and strategy, not by who has the most blatantly obvious bite.

- Tector Decimius

There is much to be said for planet-destroying weapons that can be carried by smaller vessels, but the use of a battlemoon possesses two distinct advantages: one, it is an awe-inspiring sight that few would dare assault; and two, even if such an attack were launched, the megastructure can withstand at least as much as the celestial bodies against which it is intended to be used.

- Apalos

I totally trust these folks with such a thing. Except no way in hell, they're gonna cause catastrophe with it sooner or later.

- Koluap

Giggity.

Trivia[]

  • Shockingly, the Cyrannic Imperial Battlestation is based on the Death Star.
  • The CIB is not the first Cyrannian creation to be based on the Death Star. He once created the "Justice Star" as a superweapon for the Capricorn Sector Alliance in early 2010.
